- Nintendo is one of the most beloved companies when it comes to video games, due to their long history, dedication, and their ability to constantly innovate. Because of this, they obviously have a lot of devoted fans, myself included. However, many people believe that Nintendo has lost touch with their connections with fans, and are more focused on money, is this true?
DISCLAIMER: Before you start commenting "ugh i hate how negative people are online" this video IS NOT a rant about how nintendo hates their fans and is in no way made with ill intent, we're simply delving into why people think this way and if its truly justified. It’s an analysis, not a rant
An obvious point that many people like to make is Having to pay in order to play online. As far back as the wii, online gameplay has been free for all to use, with no incurred costs involved. It's been like this on many platforms like the wii u, 3ds and even the ds. It was even free on the switch up until 2018. But, in September of that year, they started charging people for itmade it so you have to pay (/started charging people for it)o. Not only that, but the company did not provide any improvements for the online infastructure. Which is not good. It's pretty well known that online play on the switch is not the best, and heres why: basically, with most types of online play, each iondividual console connects to a server. This means that if one person's connection is really laggy, only they will be affected. On the other hand, on the switch, each console connects to each other console directly. This is likely done in order to reduce costs for nintendo, as they dont have to pay to operate their own server. Because each console connects to each other directly, this means that if one person lags, EVERYONE lags. Which sucks. Its so bad, that even nintendo developers like masahiro sakurai reccomend using wired internet to try and counteract thi
Charging 20 dollars a year for switch online, and even more for the expansion pack really makes it feel unfair that nintendo is pooling in all this money and arent using it to improve their online, which has angered a lot of people, and makes them feel like the company is just milking us for money. If youre gonna make us pay for something that was originally free, at least make it worth it.
While a lot of fans really dislike the switch online sytem, i think there are some redeeming factors. for example, online play isnt the only thing youre paying for, youre also getting a growing library of NES SNES and even game boy games now. On top of this, there are a lot of other neat little things like profile picture rewards, games like tetris 99 and mario 35- oh wait. It also grants you the ability to upload save data to the cloud, but many people argue that that should also be free anyway. Its also worth pointing out that Nintendo is a business that needs to make money to continue producing their games.
In my opinion the expansion pack is actually alright nowadays, at first it was obviously over priced, paying over double for some animal crossing dlc and a few poorly emulated n64 games. These days it's much better though, having improved emulation and including game boy advance games. The addition of the mario kart booster course pass was also an excellent move from them, as it initally added a ton more value for many players which i think a decent amount of people overlook

I'm happy with the wii u release getting another chance. I never played them and was never planning on buying a wii u. And love that mario 3d all stars came out because I wanted to replay them all more often but didn't want to have to buy 3 consoles to do so.
However i feel they should have a team to re release/remaster games and make new games. If so I just want there to be as many new games as remade games.
I'm gonna look back at the Pokemon series knowing Sword/Shield were the ones that hid the best story elements from you and how this was Game Freak basically telling their fans they're knowingly going to make bad decisions on purpose even if you don't like it.

Only because of backlash.
I think most of our complaints/dissappointments are probably because in 2017 Nintendo proved us all how they can totally be the very best in what in comes to videogames (both hardware and software) and, since that year, they kind of just made their living of that.
The Switch is a great console and it has great games, but the main issue is that Nintendo has become accustomed to living comfortably without making big efforts, because now they are on a good run.
Having said that, I think it’s safe to affirm that the best ideas and projects that Nintendo came with in 2017 where the fruit of effort and ideas after years of economic failure with Wii U.
I’m pretty happy with my Switch Lite at the moment. In my opinion Nintendo does a lot of things right with their games. Of course there are some missed opportunities, but I would be completly happy if they move forward with how the switch is doing right now. In my opinion a successor is not even needed the upcoming two years.

As a committed Wii U owner I found the Switch to be frustrating at the start. The lack of genuinely new triple-A titles coupled with an emphasis on indies and JRPGs led to my losing interest. In time the variety of releases increased and I’ve grown to really like the console.
There remain problems however. Many games look blurry in handheld mode and several fan-favourite franchises are conspicuous by their absence. I won’t list them off here, you’ll know the ones I’m talking about.
The sheer quality and abundance of Switch games over the last two or three years is extraordinarily impressive, despite the rudimentary hardware. While I look forward to what Nintendo has in store with the next system, I’ll be in no rush to purchase it. There are still many games on the Switch that I have yet to get to, so vast is its library.

@@M64bros No. Not the main site. AllMost all fan games were non modernized, there are a select few like uranium that did which explains why that got banned.

From my point of view and perspective, Nintendo has never been out of touch with its fans. But the big problem about the situation is the toxic Nintendo negativity hate train that needs to be exposed to the public.
the toxic side has done nothing but has done a bunch of terrible stuff lately, Weaponizing lwata's death, harassing and attacking casual gamers for enjoying tears of the kingdom on switch hardware and enjoying it, supporting the toxic smash community with a bunch of lousy 35-year-old neck beards that cry over a stupid 21-year-old game and are p3dos and pr3dators behind the scenes, Wishing Shigeru Miyamoto is gone or dead all because of story changes that I'm Sure not every casual player is completely interested in, blaming splatoon 3 developers, sending Sakurai death threats over DLC, bomb threaten Nintendo HQ over Gary Bowser and believing misinformation that Nintendo assassinates or kills anyone who is named Mario or any of their which is truthfully not real. For me personally, care about Nintendo's developers and employees, but disrespect their DMCA legal team in Japan. But the one problem I have with the community is if you blame Nintendo as a whole, You're dragging in its developers and employees with it considering the fact they have absolutely nothing to do with those decisions.
I'm honestly happy that a bunch of casual, respectful, Nintendo fans are actually stepping up towards the situation, We get Nintendo has some flaws but we don't want to be reminded all the time 24/7.
That's why I'm very thankful that moon channel, Synergy96 and some other respectful fans are stepping up and exposing those types of complainers.

I too actually agree with this. In all honesty it not only makes me feel terrible and regretful for playing and having Nintendo games and consoles like the switch but it makes me down seeing the long history of negativity and controversies at every turn. It also certainly doesn’t help that there are quite a few games I genuinely enjoy but the vast majority hate. I agree that the company has flaws and made mistakes that could’ve easily been avoided but at what point do we realize it’s creating such a negative aura to people who just honestly and genuinely enjoy playing games without being caught in such toxicity?

@@megaseamuslol3863 Exactly and I know people will disagree with me on this but I can definitely see why video game companies tend to not care about us, Sure, there are some companies out there that we also criticize for their BS but it could be our faults as well sometimes.
For example: during Marvel Spider-Man's 2 release a bunch of people were harassing and insulting the MJ actor and forced her to leave the internet in a lot of CZcamsrs weren't happy about that and they did prove a point that it could be our faults as well and show people how toxic every community can be towards developers and employees.

It's not Nintendo that is the core of our disappointment. It's that we're expecting from Nintendo what everyone else has. I expect full online affordable games competent hardware and just a modern touch. Playing Series S exposed me what gaming is truly about. Locked on a solo system with a misty barrier barricading me from the norn ain't it. Yeah your 1st party aint struggling but that's selfish, everything else about the console suffers: That's my gripe, it doesn't try to be anything more than a game machine. I will get Super Switch but I'm only gonna play their competitive online 1st party lineup: Smm2 mk8d ssbu s3 superstars. Sure I'll get the occasional xenoblade & fire emblem but that's cause those are my soul, quick to avoid all the other stuff. I got another library to manage, can't keep getting disappointed & throwing 60s. All in all being a switch user is just a poor service

I think the next console should have Nintendoverse, a immersive hub functioning similar to Miiverse. Include poll room and a Mytendo Room. Mii should be revived with Mytendo and with clothings that earned in games and maybe stickers for Nintendoverse can also be earned.

Looks like that's not happening anytime soon with the switch 2 confirmed not happening and Super Mario Bros. Wonder becoming successful along with the other successful games this year, I highly doubt Nintendo's going to fail anytime soon.

If they want a good online services they only have to copy what Sony is doing with Ps Plus (Online multiplayer, Cloud data, every month free games). Nintendo also needs more bigger Online games like COD and a couple of good online racing game.
