If you're building a snow cave to actually live in, (and not just build for clickbait before skiing down to a warm village) make sure to make the entrance lower than the floor of the main sleeping/living area. Since warm air is lighter than cold air, it will be trapped in the top of the cave (aka, where you are sleeping). If you do that, the cave will be exactly 0 degrees celsius. Comfortable and safe.
also make a litteral hole at the entrance to trap the cold air that do come in.
Also it’s called a quinzhee btw 👌
Thx
@@Yzeyr you dont want to trap the cold air tho
@@basher1904.5 yes you do. You want the air at the bottom so that the rest of the iglo is is warm. Imagine the cold as water. If you dig a hole for the water you dont have to lay in it.
I really think he should do more research before these crazy challenges.
This was insanely dangerous and people could have been seriously injured or even died.
Building an igloo without proper technique and lighting fire inside is dangerous.
Stay safe kids!
Yea it is without proper ventilation he could died from smoke inhalation if he passed out
the whole thing is super obviously fake. They're right beside a skilift which you can see in the zoomed out drone footage. It's also clearly not -17, you can't wear a sweater with an open jacket in that weather, you'd freeze incredibly quickly.
@@Poppetmoth yea i could tell it was staged he miggtve just been warning people that want to do this
@@Poppetmoth it was most likely -17 C which is about 1°F
Dude there professionals totally !!! 😀
It's weird that there wasn't any condensed air from his mouth when he breathed or talked. It can usually be seen as "smoke" in -1C and colder. Also a cotton hoodie and open jacket would probably not keep someone warm in -17C for longer periods of time. With sweat it would be even colder because cotton looses it's warmth when wet and it dries slowly. Maybe the temperatures he presented were true, but I just found some things a little unusual.
the camera might not have picked it up
it was fake
Nah you would probably be fine when its sunny in .17C with that kind of clothing
Check 3:16
COTTON KILLS
He was litterally never alone, after he said they all left, but in the same shot u can see someone in the background.
Wait really what time in the vid
Yea and he obv wasn’t filming himself lol there also a camera person
@@redsmuff5767 yeah true
3:01
At 3:02 you can see a person with a black hat and black coat in the background
As a scout, looking at how he built the igloo and seeing him light fires in it is painful.
As cadet, seeing him potentially bury himself alive in snow and nearly die from nitro monoxide poisoning and when he said “mmm smells nice in here kinda like smoke 😭
Yup as a cadet well once a cadet he did a few things wrong that could put himself in a lot of danger ⚠️ I used to do this type of stuff all the time when I was in the core
Ello happy to see some fellow cadets, what force yall in?
I’m a scout to,that’s so cringy lol
As a Russian potato toaster model #4 this is painful
While I respect your determination, I would highly recommend you do a little more research before facing these types of temperatures. Being a resident of Alaska, I know the cold isn’t a joke, and it can get super rough. Excellent drive, brother! Just take care of yourself a little bit more next time
-30 is for baby’s well that is for Canadians well some but yes it for baby’s
As a Alaskan I second this
@@B0bIam13 xx act zzz zz zxxxxxxxxxx Z. ZZ. Zz. z. AXz o
The video’s fake, it was proven that he slept in the warm village at the bottom on the hill
I really appreciate the fact that this man puts himself in these conditions and does these crazy challenges for our entertainment. He deserves a lot of respect for that, I hope he's ok after being so long in those temperatures.
But he is copying arrack
@@kevinkharkongor4010 when the fuck did airrack make a video where he builds an igloo mansion??
He could have a heart attack at any video he makes
Bro Chris is the man bc ne went back to help
I live in canada and last year it got to -50 for 3 days
Every time I watch this guy’s videos I think he’s just a little bit more insane.
I love your videos and all the work you put into them.
Hahaha me too
I hope it’s gets 100k I liked the vid hopefully more people do aswell
Same here, a bit more strong and tough
#creatornow
there is absolutely no way we have the same pfp wth
With any snow shelter it’s essential to smooth out the inside and create drainage areas to prevent any snow melt dripping on you.
Love the video😆
why smooth out the inside?
@@garmgarma2318 I assume if it's smooth, surface tension will keep the water from dripping. If you have rigid or obscure edges it may give the water a place to drip from, this is an educated guess so someone correct me if I'm wrong lol.
@@Gvistic yes, you should make the ceiling nice slope, and then a drainage rows in the edges of the snow shelter, it makes it so melted snow from the ceiling flows out, and doesn't drip on you (a wet sleeping bag is a cold sleeping bag).
@@hognigylfason1167 Yeah that sounds logical
Man shout out to him bro never gives up and pushes through no matter what mad dedication keep up the work
Ok so imma just say stuff ik while watching this video as I'm from the northern part of sweden and all my life I've been out in harsh weather like this maybe even worse but yeah
1. an army trick I learned from a friend is that u always mix a little alcohol with your water to keep it from freezing
2. It's never good to sweat as it is easy to do it and once you do it in a cold environment you will start to freeze and that will give you hypothermia and that's why you should always take it slow, even if u have to hurry just think that you will be better off dry and a bit late than dead by hypothermia in the night
3. In the army youth program that I'm in we never take our gear inside the tents or igloos if we are in the swedish mountains doing winter exercises we always leave them by the entrance
4. Something you always need us a chimney if you're lighting a fire inside any structure as the smoke goes up and not out the entrance so keep that in mind if you try to do this again
5. In the army they give you multiple socks and they always change them if they get wet, also if u wanna keep from getting blisters or wtf they r called then wear double socks 1st pair that feels good and fits then a 2nd pair that is a bit lose so that they dont grind on your skin
6. Wtf dude dont go out in the dark I think its basic knowledge in the winter especially if it snows
7. I'd love your chocolate bars
8. Next time if you go back, make a chimney, more clothes to replace the ones that freeze, now you have more space so ig it's ok to take the gear inside but remember to leave it outside in other similar situations, get some electrical lantern to put on the top of the igloo so that you or others can easily see it at night incase you need help or have to go out to pee or something in the night and have to find your way back, also alcohol in the water and since its already cold in an igloo I bet you can refrigerate food there and since you have that gas stove you can probably cook steak+ cooked potato with some brunsås sorry idk what the sauce is in English but damn that dish is super good especially if the meat is from a moose, damn my mouth is watering by the tough, but yeah hopefully you read this comment and use the advice for next time
The chocolate was sold out :(
Love this guy he’s a legend I’m so inspired by you! Oh and have a great day everybody merry Christmas❤️
Reminds me of when I spent 3 hours digging out a snow tunnel. Pretty tame until I ventured too far in the tunnel and realized it's elevation would lower the further you went in. I got pretty scared and panicked, took me about 10 minutes to get out. Then I was stupid enough to do it again.
Wow..you're amazing and insane. But knowing you I'm not surprised, lol 😆 😂 🤣. Nice job man. Love the video. I watched your whole 24 hours walking video live.
Wow thats mad

I love how he constantly pushes himself to his limits and still gets better great vid man!
I have a bit of experience doing this, as I am from Alaska. Some of those things he was doing due to inexperience were super super sketch, especially going alone
Hey Tyler I really love this video but when you have those candles and fire be careful because you could easily get hypoxia or carbon monoxide poisoning
Idk why this hasn’t hit the algorithm yet, but it really deserves to.
Keep it up man I love it, takes me back to the days where CZcams was how it should be
I love this guys content sooo much it so well edited and entertaining
This man goes all out for every video, and it’s great
Being lost in the snow is terrifying. Another survived experience to make your stronger and wiser. I'm guessing you know you built a quinzee rather than an igloo, but igloo sells better.
another upload let’s goo!
this is gonna be crazy
I just love this guy’s determination!! He could’ve left the first day with his friends right after that freezing night :)
He skied down each night to sleep in a cabin, with his gear it would not be possible too survive a night.
Watch out if you try lighting a fire in an igloo not because it might melt but because the smoke can suffocate you in your sleep
What you have to do is make a small hole in the roof above the fire to let the smoke out
This, But research the best technique
@@TheRealEOC yeah you don’t want it to collapse when you try to make the hole
GET HIM TO 100K LIKES PLEASE!! He is an absolute BEAST great job man
This is defiantly one of the best videos on youtube
This man is so inspiring and determined! Respect to you Tyler.
RESPECT!! Hes like that older brother everyone wants
He didn't actually sleep in the igloo he skied down each night to a cabin
When you make a igloo you use snow plus you got to pack the snow and you need water so you can turn it in to ice and connect it you know you cut it out in the box you cut the make it pack the snow to the point of the block use water so that you know it turns kind of to ice and you do that all the way around the whole to the point that it goes like ice stone and then you need fur that you're supposed to nail into the all around you know when you got to leave a little area open on the ground and make sure you got like a little area at the top that's open for the smoke bellow out of and you can have you a little fire pit
I'm so happy you upload more you have the best motivational videos
this guy risks him getting a cold and getting sick for our entertainment what a legend and inspiration to newcomers on youtube
him telling stories to his grandchildren:
"i survived 4 days in snow, and you cant go to the shop"
the reason why it was so warm is because the heat is trapped in the igloo that makes it more strong
sick video bro!!! not many youtubers like you anymore who go all out for videos like this!!
Omg this just made my day been watching u all day happy holidays Tyler you rock
You might have made a good protein chocolate but it’s crazy expensive like quadruple the price if normal ones
Subzero temperature, unpredictable weather, middle of the mountain, poorly dressed, insufficient lighting, unreliable heat source, no phone service, wandering out at night, sleeping under massive pile of snow, with no experience in the wild, all lone... what could possibly go wrong XD
what a banger! mans is out here making other challenge videos look like a walk in the park
Such an awesome video Tyler!!
Dude, insane igloo, chris and you are the best there
How come nobody is talking about how dangerous this was and the fact that at the end he advertised a chocolate bar and didn't even show us the igloo? And to top it all off only good comments are liked and this was probably the most sus thing the algorithm has sadly Givin me.
Its cool to see a large scale version of this survival igloo i learned about in school
you put your mind to everything i love it
I don't know what's more impressive, surviving for 4 days in a barren wasteland. Or how much effort he put into making that chocolate.
The fact that he put him self in harms way, to make this video for our entertainmet, is just what makes me have respect for him!

the fact that the video is short and entertaining is really nice

Theres a hut about 4 km away from there at egypt lake and its cold at night even with the wood burning stove it's amazing that igloos can keep you warm

I subscribed bc this guy randomly pop up and saw his work W
Please do more challenges like this this was awesome
Looks like you’re going back out there bro hahaha go nuts !!!
Bring a blanket next time and put it in the entrance to cover it, that way heat will get trapped, also, don’t bother with the log, but it’s still nice to have in case of emergencies. Next time you do this, bring several pairs of socks, change em put when they get wet, and put the others in a small tub near the fire, that way they are warm when you put em back on
This man is crazy props to him
