    I love my 7s, it's built like a tank and I don't need batteries since I have my own light meter. That 220 degree winding distance is such a nice quirk to it too!

    I have one of these sitting in my closet disassembled. I purchased it a few years ago and decided to do a CLA and found that one of the springs was bowed way out of shape (the film advance lever was spongy, this was the problem.)

      I have one and I use a zinc air 675 button battery rated at 1.4v which is only .05v higher than the 1.35v battery required per the manual. In order to hold the battery against the inner contacts I used the spring that I cut out of the battery compartment of an old radio. Works well.

    Hello everyone! Im using a 7s from my grandfather that hasnt been used since the late 80's and the exposure meter doesnt quite work, neither with original batteries from the time (to be expected ofc) and neither with a new battery equivalent (V625). The meter moves(with the battery in it goes to the bottom), but doesnt correctly meter anything , neither goes to the middle. Anyone that had something similar or any knows fix? thanks :)

    • @certs743
      @certs743 Před 4 lety +1

      The issue with using newer battery types with old cameras is that it over volts the meter. This results in the meter usually being out by one stop. This can usually be corrected by simply changing the ISO setting. For example with 400 speed film if you set it to 200 you should be good to go. Alternatively if you are going to have it taken to a shop for a CLA they can often adjust the meter to work with the higher voltage of new batteries.

    • @Project3635

      Hi Max, the 7s uses a mercury battery that's currently really difficult to find. You can get 1.4 v zinc air batteries and use it with an adapter for the camera.

    • @Project3635
      @Project3635  Před 5 lety +1

      If you can, check it in person. Mostly to see if the shutter fires at all speed and if the aperture rings opens and closes accurately as well as the film winding. If all is good and the lens is clear then go ahead! If you can't check and are buying online well it's a risk you have to take. This camera I'm using now I got off ebay from a guy who didn't know cameras. But I got him to test a couple of things before I buy. Mainly same as the above. Was lucky that it was in perfect condition!
