The Crowd - OPERATION IVY

- Lyrics-
Wrenched into the world, deanaesthetized
Blurry images fight their way through halfway opened eyes
Awakened by alarm fifteen minutes of hygeine
Twenty minutes of eating thirty seconds to the door
I looked outside I looked into the eyes
Of the impersonal mob I've seen a thousand times before
Feeling under covers like books on a shelf
If we're scared of one another
Must be scared of ourself
More than just another crowd
We need a gathering instead
Drink drink in the badland liquid bread for the poor
Another member of the crowd goes down to drown at the liquor store
Choose your escape in the heartland
Of product and demand when you feel like a wasp in the swarm
You gotta get away anyway that you can - Hudba
The dope factor of that opening bassline transcends music. It cuts through your soul. It's like hearing a bass cry out in longing.
🙌
Matt Freeman is a genius on his instrument. Listen to Rancid Axiom
Well, it is Matt Freeman….
Maxwell murder when he was a teenager
I played in a punk band and for just a small window our bass player channeled Matt Freeman and we can never go back to those days- so goddamn good man
That intro is probably the best intro to any punk song.
officer
I love this tune so much but my vote would be one dead cop by choking victim
I was just gonna write that too. Word homie
its crazy how op ivy did the best mixture of hardcore punk and ska that has ever been, no other band ever came close to being as good at this style as op ivy.....
@@oxrjbizzle1984y look up Folly from NJ... I could argue they do it even better. They're more ska AND more hardcore. Less punk.... Local badass band not known much outside of the area but they're awesome.... And I love op ivy I literally have that image tattooed on me
This song kicks ass. Wish there was punk this good all the time. Thanks operation ivy
My history teacher told us to watch this for extra credit. Now i have a new favorite band, too bad the broke up
Two of them formed rancid at least
This band breaking up was the best thing to happen. It’s called integrity. Green day are long past their expiration date…. Op ivy can do no wrong
that bass riff in the beginning......are you fucking kidding me? Brilliant.
+Doug Kunkel fuck yea
+Doug Kunkel Good ole matt
+Doug Kunkel Good old matt
It's so hard! I have learned to play it but my fingers aren't fast enough to play it at the speed! to my wife's dismay! haha
It's genius
Best OP IVY song.
The crowd keeps growing. There's no getting away anymore.
One of the best punk songs ever made.
I wish I grew up when Op Ivy was coming out with these amazing songs. Textbook definition of great music!
One of the greatest punk albums ever made in my opinon
Operation Ivy is a punk must, I'm surprised at the small # of views
KerayZ Haha. I dont mind it. I like being the only one who knows what "good" is.
Operation Ivy was an American punk rock band from Berkeley, California formed in May 1987. The band was stylistically important as one of the first bands to mix the elements of hardcore punk and ska into a new amalgam called ska punk and was critical to the emergence of Lookout Records and the so-called "East Bay Sound."
@@adamdixon5785 nice wikipedia copy and paste job.
I have both albums so no need to stream usually just came for comments
The newer generations listen to talentless "musicians" like Drake or Cardi B.
This song still gives me chills.
Hell yeah.
"When you feel like a WASP IN THE SMOKE GOT TO GET AWAY ANYWAY THAT CAN" is so fucking cool. Just, fucking so fucking cool. It makes me feel 18 again.
I love this song! Reminds me of high school when i was super into this music and hung out with the "punk" kids but no one really accepted me but the leader of the group because I was a jock and got good grades. Now Im successful and still friends with him, whike the others are scraping the bottom of the barrel and try to get ahold of me on Facebook for jobs! This song is sweet music to my ears!
relatable content right here honestly
man i get goosebumps hearing this again, been like 20 years still awesome
Almost 30 years now... I play their songs for my kids and I will pass down my signed Op Ivy sweatshirt
Happy 55th Birthday Jessie Michaels!
In 7th grade I did a poetry project but I was never going to do anything, so I did the lyrics of this song. Needless to say I got an A. One of the very few I ever got.
Old Lady here. I've been a punk for more that 30 years. \m/ Op Ivy fucking rocks \m/
When I was in high school i didnt really think much on the lyrics but at 32 this shit hits much harder
That's magnificent ❤❤❤❤❤❤
It's 2022 and this song was made almost 40 years ago...
How can one band be this awesome? I ask you.
I liked them then and still now. They opened the door for so many bands. it sucks they were short lived. They could so headline a tour in 2022 it's insane. just off of 1 album. A few years back Social D did a a anniversary tour why couldn't they.
I was a punk as a teen but i’ve definitely got into hip hop in the past 5 or so years. although i like modern shit like griselda, JID, Joey Badass, denzel, freddie gibbs, earl sweatshirt, mach hommy, etc i still always come back to punk shit and absolutely love it lol i’ve got plenty of my rap friend fans to enjoy certain punk songs. tbh i really wonder how many other deep hip hop listeners like this kind of stuff lol
More than just another crowd. Listen to Rebel Diaz if you like rap. 😊
That Griselda/Mach Hommy shit hits sooo different! Glad to see someone else who shares the same taste rap and some punk!
This song is a Masterpiece. Drum... voice... guitare riff... It was the 1st title that we tried to cover with my young punk band and my drummer had so many difficulty to catch it !! I don't speak about lyrics, because for a french singer it was just impossible!! hahaha good memories !
Amazing song.....operation ivy are awesome!
great skate song
green day has said before that operation ivy is one of their inspirations. you can also tell because they both sing knowledge
Operation Ivy is like a legend, only one album, but perfect, Rancid is one of the few remaining punk bands
thanks 4 posting this song with the lyrics.... right on!
Thanks for posting the lyrics... I've been listening to them since I was 14 and I was always thought "15 minutes of hygiene" was "15 minutes lethargy".
Great tune 🍀
When I was 7 I loved this shit.this song is fuckin bustin like hell the greatest song ever
just make me remember 15 years ago :(

You gotta respect how long they been around though and some of their songs are gold

Piss off with your "who is listening in (year)" formula.
Whatever the current year is, we're listening to it.

2020
2020😉🍀♣️🎱

Sick song...operation ivy rules
my new motivate song
Zajebista kapela...:)
Zgadzam się w 100% :) !
Joey Penny and Drew Tovar from La Puente would cover this one . Not bad if I do say so myself. Thanks Operatin Ivy for a great song for an old Oi! Band to cover.
Uploaded on my bday haha.. awesome
Crazy.
Does the intro sound like joy division's "Disorder" to anyone else? I mean I love this band and this song, but disorder is the first thing that popped into my head when I heard the drum intro.
This shit rocks like hell
Old School!
The fucking lyrics!
Always lifts me from the shit, will always love this
who agrees if they still play and there on mtv today they will be popular!!!
I love the skapunk mawacho Ipis xxx
1 person should get lit on fire... this is the greatest song evar
Op Ivy & Rancid = Kickass..
Great song op ivy was a good band to bad they split up
hey they kept on making music ;) they aren't gone! tim just went on to found rancid which i wouldn't want to be without!
ronnie logic Don't forget Jesse's bands Common Rider and Classics of Love.
demmm... remind my 1st punk band we make it..🔥
3 people have an opinion...and i respect them for it...
this shit takes me back to my youth
Well that, and also when Op Ivy finished up being a band 2 of the members went on to form Rancid. Both bands weren't ever in existence at the same time.
TzarBombah rise up
I came from TheFOLD music
this is that prima materia id say
theyr both greater than thou
I’m 17 and I still listen to this shit
Wrenched into the world, deanaesthetized
Blurry images fit their way through halfway opened eyes
Awakened by alarm fifteen minutes of hygiene
Twenty minutes of eating thirty seconds to the door
I looked outside I looked into the eyes
Of the impersonal mob I've seen a thousand times before

To drown at the liquor store
Choose your escape in the heartland
Of product and demand when you feel like a wasp in the swarm
You gotta get away anyway that you can
xD YES!! YES!! YES!!
God, listen to that bass >_
great song, too bad the fans here are just another crowd
We need a gathering instead...
I hear a lot praises of Matt on bass, but damn, Dave Mello is a very overlooked drummer, he kills it like no other. In the punk world, I would put him up against Bill Stevenson or Earl Hudson
I'm 12 and this and the ramones are some of my favs
Now 20?
who cares?
What if i told you I enjoy both equally.
operation ivy, operation ivy,is the album id imagine google will help you find a place to buy/dl it
...in what universe does that make sense...
I love opiv and the last thing I would want to do is overrate them, but my band from high school would play this song every fuckin show, and it was the best shit ever!
My friends' band does a good cover of this song, but gaaaah seeing the original live mus be amazing. They probably do a fucking beautiful show.
OI a close second to the pistols of greatest punk band evah
its on energy by op ivy and their self titled compilation
If you’re not here, where the F are you
This is pure this isn't a fuckin' faction.
Holly fucking shit!!!!!!!! goose bumps.......
@epicone256un00b Try screeching weasel,sloppy seconds,the descendents,blank 77,orange 9mm some of my favs
It seems that Green Day was very inspired by this band!
Indeed, they were buds in the Gilman and like half of Op Ivy is Rancid and vice versa
Roots
@uzidude132 i don't know very much about theoretical music, but if the key this is in needs to have all the chords in its scale i can only think of A major.
in what universe does it need to make sense? :)
where can i find this song?in what record?
@Seizre that's a tuning, not a key
