- In today's adventure, Coyote Peterson and the Brave Wilderness crew returns to the Australian Reptile Park to profile the World's Deadliest Job: Australian Snake Milker. This time, we're here to milk Australia's Top 5 Dangerous Venomous Snakes: The King Brown aka Mulga, the Death Adder, the Tiger Snake, the Costal Taipan, and the notorious Eastern Brown.
Billy Collett, the Operations Manager at the Australian Reptile Park, handles these magnificent reptiles almost every day in order to help produce life-saving antivenom. But just because he handles them every day doesn't mean there aren't close calls -- especially when it comes to the Eastern Brown!
We want to thank the Australian Reptile Park and the fearless Billy Collett for all the work they do in helping to create the life-saving anti-venom! Visit their website for more information and to plan a visit to the reptile park: reptilepark.com.au

Coyote and the team are on-production right now recording the final snake milking adventure... any guesses on the snake species?
I don't know 🤔
So much snakes a type of python I guess 😐
Maybe a rattle snake or viper?
Top of the list, inland Taipan? But maybe in honour of Billy...the Collet's snake?
Coyote was asked to block the cloaca when holding the snakes. I can't find the reason online. Can you explain why?
I wonder what makes a person wake up in the morning and think, “I want to milk snakes for a living.”
Depending on what type of snake it is, their venom is probably worth 5 times as much as your paycheck 😂
Passion for reptiles is very real. For how dangerous they are, it's similar to the passion scientists and activists have for primates or insects, arachnids, etc. Great pay is one thing, but honestly, I will admit working with these animals seems fun and very rewarding.
I want to know🤣
Being sociopathic surely helps .
Indeed, I think reptiles are awesome and love learning more about them. I personally have no issue or fear handling any snake or spider, or really any commonly feared animal as long as I have 100% assurances it poses no threat to me. Unfortunately, these snakes don’t qualify for that list.@@lordofchaos97
I really appreciate Billy's attitude. He's incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, but he's not nearly as arrogant about controlling the snakes as you'd expect someone of his experience. He's still incredibly aware of how dangerous what he's doing is.
You can see billy's hand shaking after the king brown nearly hit his face. But i will say one thing the tiger snake in Western Australia is more common along the beaches then the rest of Australia and the colour is totally different they way more tiger colour looking so more yellow and striped.
I see him as a very smart and humble person.
that's because the ones that become arrogant die.
Gotta respect someone like that. He's confident, but never forgets how deadly these snakes are. What a heart pounding joke!
@@SumAussieCobber Yeah, he even said he still gets scared from stuff like that. A bite to the face from something that venomous is going to be pure agony.

Knowing how many people this helps and that the anti venom is free truly makes me proud to be an Australian, God bless this great great country and all our awesome snake handlers ❤
Thank God for Australians. Love from America!
God bless Australia!
Heck yea!
the amount of self control billy shows when the snake tries to bite him is insane, it's not only about having nerves of steel but also hours and hours of training and experience.
my highest respect goes out to this guy, he's a true hero!
Billy is an awesome dude. To have that confidence without arrogance, awareness and knowledge of what can happen, knowing the risks, without panicking.
Having no arrogance is such an important part of many dangerous jobs. Even if you've been working the same one for 20+ years, one mistake and your life is gone or ruined.
@infinitedeath1384 Don't I know it. Even in the military did I ever go through something this dangerous. Not comparing my life to Billy, but every time I am awesome, best at something...the moment I brag or get cocky I always mess up.
@@otterwithagun1982 Haha that's karma at play. If I had a dollar for the amount of times I've seen someone brag about something, and then mess it up, I'd have like 20+ bucks lol.
why that tiger looking snake almost scare me😢😢😢😢😢😢
He seems like an awesome lad. But then again, it's easy to stay humble when the smallest mistake could cost him his life.
OMG! That's absolutely terrifying! I'm so glad Billy's okay! Many thanks to Billy and others like him who work dangerous jobs to help others.
Yep! Major respect to them. 🎉
Coyote almost slipped up keeping it family friendly at 4:06 🤣 I love brave wilderness!!
Huge props to Coyote and Billy, snakes are extremely muscle and STRONG, especially these kind of snakes, and the way coyote can somehow comment WHILE holding the snakes is mild blowing.
Wishing Billy all the best. My heart rate was accelerating watching behind the screen. These snake milkers are so important and put their lives on the line for the people.
@JohnRedcorn-yz5vb you will if you ever end up getting bitten by a snake

@@JohnRedcorn-yz5vb There's no shot you're 20, you're acting like a 12 year old lol
Billy has completely the right attitude for this job. Respectful of the animals and what they can do, knowledgeable of each snake’s unique personalities and never ever putting himself at risk to show off to camera like some CZcams personalities.
It’s crazy to think how many lives billy has inadvertently saved
I mean considering even if it takes 30ish vials per snake, if he’s working full time for years just doing this every day, probably hundreds if not thousands at the absolute least. Props to him, he’s quite literally putting his life on the line for others daily. Even more so and more regularly than most emergency respondents.
Never even thought about how antivenom was "made", that is an absolutely crazy process. Even more crazy how someone figured out it was even possible!
Let us all be thankful for people like Billy who put their lives on the line to help develop life saving anti-venom. Billy if you're reading this you are wonderful, sir. Thank you.
Who knew Horses were so strong with their immune systems! Hats off to the Reptile Park, and to the many horses it takes to create the antivenom!! Very well done!
Before this video I knew horses had something to do with the antivenom, but now I know and it's quite interesting. Also good that the horses aren't harmed because of this, and people get to be saved.
That and they are fing massive, it's like a small guy and a giant drinking
This man is an absolute legend. So humble, so courageous.
Thank god for ppl like him keeping us safe.
Billy is my new hero. Way to go buddy! You're saving lives! Thank you for what you do!
The way that snake bite drill is so well rehearsed it's so interesting to watch
Coyote's acting hahaha, well done to billy and co. though!
@@Kurse_of_Kall yeah, he was milking it!
Idk mate. The fact that their first reaction is to let go of the snake. Is a death sentance
Coyote really is committing to his role. Lmao love these videos.
He did great, he really went with it.
Well he has enough experience xD
@@Roozyj lol oh for sure.
Billy truly is a hero, especially for the amount of work it takes to get one anti-venom, keep up the amazing work!!
The snake bite drill was invaluable - well done! Billy is a very professional bloke. Thank you, mate!
Very impressed that the antivenom is free. That's so freaking awesome! It's made for people, not profit. 👍
We have a public health system where people who are injured or even bitten by one of these snakes can get treatment quickly and efficiently for free and at the most subsidised cost for something like discharge medication.
@@nahsik Its not free it's just paid for through taxes. (Prepaid)
Yup. All civilized nations have free healthcare.
i mean i get that it's impresive to the us, but it not that uncomon to have free health care... still awsome tho...
@@alecb8509 dha... doctor aren't slave, and deserve every $ and respect they can get, just important that everyone can access it.
"Venomous danger noodles" has to be my favorite way of describing dangerous snakes
Be safe Billy, and go home every day after work. Thanks for what you do. That is some seriously scary work that you do. Your a brave and humble man.
Thanks as an Australian that lives just north of Gosford we were privileged to watch one of these snake milking demos but it was by Eric Worrell. He was the man who deserves all the credit for the miking program started way back in 1951 with Tiger snakes. He died in 1987. Extra thanks and bravery award to Billy...you to Coyote.
So awesome to think about how many lives Billy has saved through his years.
@@JohnRedcorn-yz5vb No, he doesn't, not a single part of this process hurts them and he saves hundreds of lives every year, worth it if you ask me
i own a snake, while i do agree that they arent living as a pet snake would, these are livestock snakes, its like how not all dogs are like your dogs, there are dog farms in asia where they're bred to be cooked and eaten, there are pet chickens and then there are chicken farms where they're born to die, though it is "abusive" it needs to happen, we cant build 130 gallon inclosures with hides, waterbowls, reptibark and humidifiers for the hundreds of snakes there, we need live stock to keep our world alive@@JohnRedcorn-yz5vb

I couldn’t imagine being in the room while this was being done. I was on edge throughout the whole video. These people put themselves in harm’s way dozens of times every day. Their efforts save lives. Lots of respect and admiration for Bill and colleagues.
He said "I can't have an off day" and I was just imagining someone with ADHD or just an inattentive personality trying to do this work xD I think I'd die within a week ^^'
One of the best snake anti-venom harvesting documentaries ... plus covering all aspects of antivenom collection+production. Especially appreciated the snake-bite drill. Both entertaining and educational! Great job ... well done!!!

Absolutely blows my mind that these guys don’t use any clothing to protect themselves from bites. Truly a terrifying job.
Right? We have Bee suits but we can't make something similar for Snakes? Definitely seems weird.
I was wondering that too: *why don't they use protective gear* ?
Just a speculation on my part, a material that is not pierced by those fangs restricts handlers movement and if the snake loses the venom biting the gear, very little venom can be taken afterwards, so they choose the most dangerous route to maximize yield.
The materials are prohibitively expense. The only thing they make specifically for punctures of this caliber are the company HexArmor’s Venom-Defenders. And those are just gloved
@@TangoCharlieWhiskey96 Thanks for sharing, but wouldn't metal or hard plastic strapped to the body be enough, even if custom made? Mobility would be affected though...
@@andanssas it could also break the snakes fangs too? Maybe. Too limited mobility and they are intelligent creatures.
Awesome episode. One if my favorite so far. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to the entire Brave Wilderness crew.
Billy, thank you for what you do!! This was amazing and incredibly scary yet I am so grateful for what you guys do for the world we all share. Btw, Coyote’s Death Adder reaction was adorable 🥰
the reptile park also milks spiders for anti-venom! if you like watching brave wilderness, i suggest you the channel bondi vet or untamed :) if you specifically want to focus on the reptile park, there are episodes called “the wildlife of tim faulkner”.
@15:41 - It's crazy, because if you watch the snake, it basically waits for a shift in his momentum and when he stands still it launched at him. A good lesson to never think snakes are mindless creatures.
Nice spot, just need a particularly grumpy one to take a bite of his leg as well and its curtains...I'd wear boots just incase.
@@schneidervonhammer722 that’s what I was thinking. It seems like this job should require some sort of protective equipment not just shorts and a t shirt
@@schneidervonhammer722 yes, that snake came very very close to his legs many times!! I was surprised they didn’t use the snake hook to keep it away from his body, I wouldn’t want my fingers ( or body ) near that thing!!
Thanks to billy for his courage and professionalism.
Thank you, Billy! My respect for you is sky high and of course for Coyote!
