      It's all fun to watch but god damn all that waiting and lining up to get "killed" is beyond annoying. Especially when the hero grabs 1 of the dudes arms and he's just standing there watching as he messes him up, hey Einstein you've got another hand, you might wanna do something with it. Fuck... Me.

    I think that this guy has more knowledge in martial arts than he is admitting cos his movements are pretty fluid for someone whom has just one month basic training and his knuckles are calloused AF. Have a look again at the scene where he is picking up the cannister and you'll see knuckles that are well seasoned. There are also people that are just really good at mimicking moves and learning choreo maybe he is one of those people. He did make it look good and believable.

      John is a humble guy. He acknowledges the fact that he came from a modelling background and majority of the time just been the buff guy who hits the gym. Throughout most of his movies career he has been known for his physique. Arguably the most buff dude in bollywood. He wasn't really in his best shape in this movie in terms of bodybuilding physique. He looked the best at the time he did Force. His body weight stays in between 80 to 90 kgs. He moves well for his size I guess. Vidyut Jamwal the guy he faced in the movie force is a true specimen though. Looks phenomenal and knows real martial arts right from when he was a child

    The guy that's sitting on the couch and shoots at the main dude is named Kazu Patrick Tang. He does a lot of stuntwork and martial arts. He has fought Scott Adkins in Ninja II, and even had a lead role in Rising Phoenix with Jeeja Yanin. He's half-Thai and half-Vietnamese, if I recall correctly, and a pretty dope fighter, too.

    I love that you mentioned that cutting the tendons on your fingers' flexor muscles disarms people.
    I practice HEMA myself, basically Historical European Martial Arts, and in longsword, which is what I'm most familiar with, shots to the hand are incredibly common.
    Heads and hands are the targets to aim for if you have a sword. Cut the hand, it disables them so they can't hold their weapon, or it does a literal disarm by cutting the hand off.
    Hans Talhoffer from the 1400's has a few manuals on sword and buckler and longsword where cuts to the hand were shown.
    In one of them, Talhoffer does it in one move unsheathing the longsword as he cuts.
    So yes, THANK YOU for mentioning this small aspect of armed martial arts.

    • @BurridgeMartialArts604
      @BurridgeMartialArts604  Před 3 lety +2

      I am no expert with weapons but I remember doing a seminar with a Kali instructor when I was younger and him discussing striking the arms with the blade to disarm your opponent and thought it was an incredibly smart use of the weapon.
      I would love to try HEMA one day, but unfortunately it's very difficult to find it out here where I am.
      Best of luck with your training!

    Yeah, @8:04 he definitely should've just gone for the 'potato peel'. In Silat you catch and break/maim/sever/slice whatever is the threat. The knife hand is the threat. If you're already there with the blade then peeling down the arm with the knife is always a safe bet. He did it with the multiple stabs then the slash down the arm earlier in the fight. Plus he could've just trapped with knife hand against the arm and locked and peeled down dude's arm, crossing his left arm across dude's neck, fully extending the arm, tightening those muscles/tendons for the peel all the way down. That's a Silat fav.
