    You know Josh is really speaking from his heart when his teaching us. When he gets happy, serious, angry, excited and so on his stutter acts up and no I'm not making fun of him. I think it's really cool also I know he always speaks from his heart and mind. So glad i found this channel. He has some amazing, beautiful fish. I would love to see a huge flat head or a huge blue catfish in the monster pond. A piebald blue catfish would be AWESONE.. Piebald blue cats are consider one of the rarest catfish. Odds for one are 2 in 2 million babies.. That's insane if you ask me

    This is the problem with calling this hobby a hobby. It makes every Joe Blow think that you just go to Walmart and get a pool or some kind of wooden built thing and it's going to keep living things alive. Building a tank with wood requires a good bit of know-how or education. And those swimming pools from my experience using them for a swimming pool is that they don't last very long. I'm glad you put this video out to help educate people. People usually mean well but you need years of experience before keeping fish especially large fish like that.

    Depending on the make of pool pond , beware of putting pacu species in them! Some of the real cheap pool brands have big internal seams in the pool liner and I've known of bored pacus having a munch on them. So if you get a pool pond and you want a pacu species in it, make sure it's not a cheap, thin vinyl type and also make sure you have no big folds or anything that a pacu can get it's teeth around!
    Another fish to be careful with are the big black wood eating plecos ( not the common pleco). Ive seen a two foot specimen gouge an acrylic tank with marks 2 - 3 mm deep! It would nail a poolpond liner with no trouble.
    But if you can afford one of these plecos I don't think you'd be cheap enough to keep it in a poolpond and not a monster sized tank.
    Great information as always guys, experience is the best teacher and there are a lot of amateur FishTubers out there that could really use these valuable insights.

    • @jonleiend1381
      @jonleiend1381 Před 4 lety +1

      From what I have been told you can not use roof liner. It needs to be pond liner. The roof liner will leach chemicals that will kill your fish. That may be rubber roofing only and not the tarp material.

    My son brought me up his above ground outdoor pool to put my koi in 3 years ago, we live in Nevada where the temperature gets above 115+ during the summer and usually around 34-40’s during the winter. I’m sure it’s going to give out somewhere soon and we’re planning to build a real pond with cinderblock we got an incredible deal for. Any ideas for me in that area is very welcome! At any rate I watch all the time for stress points in the pool and so far so good.....so far! We have it filled about halfway around 1500 gals, it’s a 2500 gal pool.

    In my experience if you take a pond liner and you fit it to be on the inside of your pool pond you can do across fold to make the corners perfect then you cut the corners just slightly so you can fold everything down you some clamps to hold it in place it'll last you about 8 years before you have to replace the liner which save you from having to constantly by liners for your pool pond and break it down and replace it it's much easier to replace the liner when it's a pond liner as opposed to a pool liner you set it up with the pool liner and then you put the pond liner on the inside of that

    Put, your pump in a five gallon trash can with holes drilled around the top to create a weir, so if you get a leak from your filter that isn't dripping back into the pool, the pump won't totally drain your pool and kill your fish. The reason you put the insolation on the floor under the pool is because, floors transfer heat, If it is freezing outside the floor transfers cold to your pond by stealing heat energy, if it is hot it boils your fish by transferring heat into your pond. With sheets of insolation under the pond it stops the heat transfer. it's a stop gap. yes it also protects from sharp objects.

We have even completely drained pool and refilled it again & the same thing happened. We don’t have this problem with our outside koi pond using same well water. We are using an antibacterial RV water hose to fill pool faster. This hose is only designated to be used indoors with fish pool. Could this be our problem? How do we stop getting ammonia build-up?
