They just pick up their box of pretty vegetables and drive away! Thank you! I love your ideas on creating a beautiful, bountiful harvest with less weeding and NO back-breaking digging and tilling - been there, done that! This video just makes you want to grow food! Love the sound effects. Here in the eastern US, you can sign up for a home-delivered box of "misfits", not quite perfectly formed vegetables and fruits. You choose the mix, it's organic and not too pricey.
I can taste the freshness, lovely to see all this. We're all far too used to seeing "perfect" vegetables, it's time we caught ourselves on. Nature isn't perfect. People should think of the flavour and colours and freshness before the shape and length. Well done, Charles and team 😍
I had closed down my veg garden after a few years of draught and water restrictions here in South Africa,but today, I have harvested the first salad leaves from my very tiny veggie patch,what a wonderful taste. There is nothing as good as fresh veg,I love watching your enterprise ,Charles, you are a very industrious man. Well done to you and your keen helpers.Regards from Capetown

harvesting is the pay-back for all the work that went before, but it's a lot of work in itself, and you can't disappoint your customers. Timing is everything; this is the first video I see of harvesting and preparing the produce for market, and it was fascinating to watch.
Memories are made by simple things. I will never forget the taste of my first home grown organic cucumber. Charles' story of the shop is proof the people are sick to death of dutch mass grown "vegtables".
the fact that people commented that they'd forgotten what cucumber tasted like - having only had shop cucumbers until the last 2 years growing our own, i really appreciate how good they really can be :)
I can totally relate with that. Mass grown vegetables, Dutch or Spanish, it really doesn't mater, they all taste like s(word). They're wonderful for "business" not for your palate. :-( My wife, me too for that matter, we're staggered by the amazing taste of our natural and organically grown vegetables. I had almost forgot, my childhood memories, of how good vegetables could taste and smell. It's a pity that "industrial" food is lacking so much in both of these departments. On the "bad" side of the story, shape, form, size was all over the place. Some big some small, some twisted...BUT they all smell and taste wonderful. I would go with taste first, that's for sure. ;-)
If Edward stitched these videos together into a 2 hour movie and sell it as a download in the shop I'd love it! January to December in the garden. I'd watch it over and over.
I wouldn't! I would want to get out and do it myself. I guess I can safely say... I garden this way now. I haven't worked everything into my system yet... but I can say... IT WORKS !!! But I would have to go back and re-watch stuff that my brain would forget. lol

I'm in the USA and they have different formats or something. I think it's time for an updated version of "The Victorian Kitchen Garden Series" the Charles Dowding Way and Edward could do the job for sure. So talented. We'd have the past and the present. I bought the DVD set of Victorian Kitchen Garden but was not able to play it on my computer or DVD player. I was thinking .mp4 would be Universal. Maybe use the iTunes Store or Amazon?

Beautiful video. I so appreciate watching vids of gardeners harvest their veg. We began watching them in early spring prepare the beds, choose their seeds, potting on, transplanting and sowing and garden tours. So many channels think it is more important to have their talking face close up in the screen when we would rather see actual harvests of their gardens (especially partial to potato harvests). This vid was so well done, I have watched it 3 times so far. Bravo Charles and great editing as well!
As I reach a 'certain age', I have been thinking more and more about retiring from my tech job to do small-scale farming. While I have enjoyed learning about the no-dig method, this video in particular has really made me think my dream could be a reality. Thank you so much, Charles, for the generosity and thoughtfulness that you bring to education on nuturing not just the plants and soil, but the gardener as well.
Hi Holly and the is nice to heart, good luck with future plans. Bear in mind tat I slowed down a bit for the video, and that I have some volunteers help which is not always the case. Harvest can often be stressful as you have time deadlines.
Enjoyed seeing the amount of work that it takes to harvest, clean and package vegetables. We forget how much care is put into organic grown harvesting compared to large commercial mechanized producers.

This is one of your best videos Charles. All your videos are great but there is something about this one. Watching how you pick, pack and deliver; the whole story - as a new grower and farmer myself, it is invaluable. I love how you don't use any gimmicks, it's just great food grown well, packaged simply and driven to where it needs to go. Supporting local growers and small-scale farmers is so important and what you and your family/team are doing is just amazing. You've inspired me to take on the challenge of growing food for my local community. If one day my growing space can look even a tenth as good as yours, I'll be happy with that. Thanks for sharing.

Watching your videos has inspired me. I will probably never garden commercially but I'm sure I can grow enough for my future family and friends to be eating 100% fresh veg out of my own yard year round. And who knows? I love your normal videos full of tips- just like your book and diary, but this video was a really enjoyable, relaxing watch and very insightful to the amount of work put it on a daily basis. We started an allotment early this year and have used your No Dig approach and other seasoned allotment holders have been commenting on the yields, health and fullness of our plot. A couple have even said they 'might try it next year'. Learning so much from you with each new video. Thanks for all the inspiration.

This may sound strange but I don’t like gardening at all but I found this video smoothing and relaxing. This year, I underwent some painful cancer treatments and I found that in the worst moments of pain, listening to this helped me keep my mind occupied, providing some distraction and relief. So thanks for it.
Hi Charles, great video. I live on a Parkhome site with 36 houses. No shop anymore in the village. I tried to sell my surplus via a donation, but people were not interested. I had a fall out with one of my neighbours for the table I had put against my house. He did not want to look at a cool box. So I give some vegetables away and I preserve a lot by freezing and bottling (according to the American 2 lid system and Mason jars) The taste of home grown vegetables is so much better. A lot of work, yes, but not always "hard" work. I call it "satisfying" work. Use your body, move around in the sunshine, chat and laugh with co-workers, deliver beautiful, nutritious food to your customers...that is not really "hard" - it is a life well-lived.
hello charlles, your work with plants and vegetables is magnificent; one of the greatest human creations was the internet as I am from Brazil and breaking the barrier of distance between us is admirable; It is essential to produce our own food, as we can see that it is a way of prevention we know that they are totally organic free of pesticides, where today almost everything we eat involves poison. One thing that encouraged me to planting vegetables here at home was around March 2020 and a practice I had was to produce my own watering can, then came the taste of producing vegetables, soon after recycling the egg trays and disposable cups I realized that it is a great option to recycle and reduce environmental impacts.
When Charles mentioned his local 'Spar', I thought he meant Spa. I was envisioning some high end organic super posho beauty treatment and wellness centre plating up organic carbon negative veg for £25 a plate. Was both a bit surprised and releaved to see the Spar and to know we're operating in the real world still...
What orangie flowers are growing in the greenhouse? I will be adding a number of flowers to spread in my outside and inside garden next season. Any tips? Blessings to all.
That was absolutely fascinating. Stunningly simple, wholesome food grown on an intimate scale yet available at your local Spar! The residents of your area are very lucky to have you on their doorstep. Thankyou for sharing this with us. I am trying to follow your advise as best I can in the garden I am making in my new home. I have been here a year and am very proud of the changes I have made so far. It is going to be an ever evolving situation for me but always based on no dig, no pesticides principles. Fab video Charles, I'm amazed at how cheap our food is. I've started using my onion and garlic scapes in omlettes and stir fry, cut the head and top inch off and use about 6" of the stem the same way you would cut chives. They don't store well or i've not found a way to store them yet, but they are a real punch of flavour from what generally is waste. Thanks for the video and information shared. Inspiring.
Beautiful harvest! It is so wonderful that you have so much to share and distribute. I've seen people use a reconfigured, old washing machine spin cycle to dry out the salad greens. I cannot believe you do all that by hand!
The thought of a lot of those veg "not selling at the market" just kills me. All perfectly great produce with much better flavor than the crud from mass growing but because it isn't perfectly straight means some people would turn their nose up at it, so sad to think!!! I love my crooked carrots lol
I grow chilli peppers and some peppers aren't perfectly straight. some are a little smaller some are a little fatter. They're all still good. If anything seeing the same variety being sold in supermarkets that all look the same shape just makes me think there is something odd going on. I hate to think of all the unnecessary meddling in the aid of some flawed notion of superficial "beauty". Truly, I think it represents everything wrong with society.
Such honest and hard work, so much respect and love for nature. It is a shame that growing vegetables and fruits gets put under the same “farming” umbrella with cruel and unnecessary animal farming. I love watching your videos Charles.
I harvest lettuce, spinach and arugla the same way in my simple garden. It enables them to bolt later rendering gangs of seeds for friends and neighbors.
This is the season Charles that I will plant in the "no dig" area I started 2 seasons ago because of you. I have so much erosion over the years, that making it all go "no dig" made the best sense. I even got a humongous squash volunteer last season ( I thought it was a weed till I had a closer look). It was scrumptious! I hope my effort is prolific, so many leaves gathered and put down along with kitchen scraps, coffee grinds and egg shells, then covered with a wool rug. Well I hope it works out. This year, I am going to create a hot compost bin just so I can add on top. I don't have much space but I think I can supply myself ( about 40 by ten feet). Anyways I don't even have much in goals but I enjoy what you say and show. Thank you

This is one of your best videos Charles. All your videos are great but there is something about this one. Watching how you pick, pack and deliver; the whole story - as a new grower and farmer myself, it is invaluable. I love how you don't use any gimmicks, it's just great food grown well, packaged simply and driven to where it needs to go. Supporting local growers and small-scale farmers is so important and what you and your family/team are doing is just amazing. You've inspired me to take on the challenge of growing food for my local community. If one day my growing space can look even a tenth as good as yours, I'll be happy with that. Thanks for sharing.

Watching your videos has inspired me. I will probably never garden commercially but I'm sure I can grow enough for my future family and friends to be eating 100% fresh veg out of my own yard year round. And who knows? I love your normal videos full of tips- just like your book and diary, but this video was a really enjoyable, relaxing watch and very insightful to the amount of work put it on a daily basis. We started an allotment early this year and have used your No Dig approach and other seasoned allotment holders have been commenting on the yields, health and fullness of our plot. A couple have even said they 'might try it next year'. Learning so much from you with each new video. Thanks for all the inspiration.

This may sound strange but I don’t like gardening at all but I found this video smoothing and relaxing. This year, I underwent some painful cancer treatments and I found that in the worst moments of pain, listening to this helped me keep my mind occupied, providing some distraction and relief. So thanks for it.

Hi Charles, great video. I live on a Parkhome site with 36 houses. No shop anymore in the village. I tried to sell my surplus via a donation, but people were not interested. I had a fall out with one of my neighbours for the table I had put against my house. He did not want to look at a cool box. So I give some vegetables away and I preserve a lot by freezing and bottling (according to the American 2 lid system and Mason jars) The taste of home grown vegetables is so much better. Eveline in Southern Scotland.
Ah Eveline that is shocking, maybe most people have forgotten these wonderful flavours. Good you can store the veg.

A lot of work, yes, but not always "hard" work. I call it "satisfying" work. Use your body, move around in the sunshine, chat and laugh with co-workers, deliver beautiful, nutritious food to your customers...that is not really "hard" - it is a life well-lived.

hello charlles, your work with plants and vegetables is magnificent; one of the greatest human creations was the internet as I am from Brazil and breaking the barrier of distance between us is admirable; It is essential to produce our own food, as we can see that it is a way of prevention we know that they are totally organic free of pesticides, where today almost everything we eat involves poison. One thing that encouraged me to planting vegetables here at home was around March 2020 and a practice I had was to produce my own watering can, then came the taste of producing vegetables, soon after recycling the egg trays and disposable cups I realized that it is a great option to recycle and reduce environmental impacts.

When Charles mentioned his local 'Spar', I thought he meant Spa. I was envisioning some high end organic super posho beauty treatment and wellness centre plating up organic carbon negative veg for £25 a plate. Was both a bit surprised and releaved to see the Spar and to know we're operating in the real world still...

That was absolutely fascinating. Stunningly simple, wholesome food grown on an intimate scale yet available at your local Spar! The residents of your area are very lucky to have you on their doorstep. Thankyou for sharing this with us. I am trying to follow your advise as best I can in the garden I am making in my new home. I have been here a year and am very proud of the changes I have made so far. It is going to be an ever evolving situation for me but always based on no dig, no pesticides principles. Thankyou for the inspiration :-)
And PS, I would still buy that wonky cucumber over a straight mass produced one :-)

Fab video Charles, I'm amazed at how cheap our food is. I've started using my onion and garlic scapes in omlettes and stir fry, cut the head and top inch off and use about 6" of the stem the same way you would cut chives. They don't store well or i've not found a way to store them yet, but they are a real punch of flavour from what generally is waste. Thanks for the video and information shared. Inspiring.
Beautiful harvest! It is so wonderful that you have so much to share and distribute. I've seen people use a reconfigured, old washing machine spin cycle to dry out the salad greens. I cannot believe you do all that by hand!

The thought of a lot of those veg "not selling at the market" just kills me. All perfectly great produce with much better flavor than the crud from mass growing but because it isn't perfectly straight means some people would turn their nose up at it, so sad to think!!! I love my crooked carrots lol
I grow chilli peppers and some peppers aren't perfectly straight. some are a little smaller some are a little fatter. They're all still good. If anything seeing the same variety being sold in supermarkets that all look the same shape just makes me think there is something odd going on. I hate to think of all the unnecessary meddling in the aid of some flawed notion of superficial "beauty". Truly, I think it represents everything wrong with society.

I harvest lettuce, spinach and arugla the same way in my simple garden. It enables them to bolt later rendering gangs of seeds for friends and neighbors.
This is the season Charles that I will plant in the "no dig" area I started 2 seasons ago because of you. I have so much erosion over the years, that making it all go "no dig" made the best sense. I even got a humongous squash volunteer last season ( I thought it was a weed till I had a closer look). It was scrumptious! I hope my effort is prolific, so many leaves gathered and put down along with kitchen scraps, coffee grinds and egg shells, then covered with a wool rug. Well I hope it works out. This year, I am going to create a hot compost bin just so I can add on top. I don't have much space but I think I can supply myself ( about 40 by ten feet). Anyways I don't even have much in goals but I enjoy what you say and show. Thank you
