I just went and read this woman's Wikipedia article. She has missed huge fame by inches about a half dozen times. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves! Maybe the internet will get her the acknowledgment she deserves!
Still regard her the best ,what a voice
Totally agree. Deserves more recognition. Fabulous voice.
Just went to see her (again), 6 weeks ago. 76 years old and still fucking amazing - in music and beauty.
It's 2021, and I just discovered this version. For me this is the best version
Bro, I’m a joe, who has the exact same story! Got this on vinyl a week ago, mind blown!!!
Whole album is full of blazing hot covers!!
Dead right! Evie Sands had the original version in 1967, which made little impact. Followed by a crop of covers in 1968 of which PP Arnold’s version is, for me, by far the most powerful. Juice Newton’s retake decades later was also very good - but for me Pat’s version will always be the definitive one.
SAME!💗
Sane here 2021 and I'm just hearing this.
Her voice is so beautiful she's a angel of the morning 🌹
Beautiful- by far the BEST cover of this song. PP Arnold voice is incredible 😘
Here I am reading a book called Shooting Midnight Cowboy. It mentions that John Voight’s brother wrote music as Chip Taylor and wrote Angel of the Morning and Wild Thing. Had no idea. And no idea there were so many versions! I only knew the version from the eighties by Newton. This version is excellent! So glad to find it! Kids, it still pays to read books! You never know what you’ll discover!
PP Arnold is waaaaaaaay underappreciated!!!
Kaptain ate you still alive
you can say that again Kaptain
It hurts to only learn about this incredible artist only now!
EVERY VERSION OF THIS CLASSIC IS WONDERFUL.
I agree very much beaucoup !!!!!!
You're right. No favorites, they all sing their guts out for this.
I have this on 45 and PP's still one of my all time favourites, but finding these other covers was great, they are all excellent.
When a song is written that is so great, then it is almost impossible to make a bad record out of it .. So yes, just about all the versions I've heard of this song are good ( including PP Arnold's ) .. But to me, Merrilee Rush's original is still the best.
Yerrrrt but PP s still the best
By far, the best angel of the morning.
This rendition is pure Soul - the voice is alive - the Band Dynamically Electrifying , first time I'm hearing this version of a Classic.
Takes me right back to the 1960s😎 Soulful version by P.P.Arnold👏👏👏👏
Fabulous version. I was always fascinated by PP as a kid. There was something so soft and delightful about her, but she could really rip those lines out.
have a look at her with the Small Faces on the Tin Soldier video, she's gorgeous.
I have seen that video several times. It is brilliant, but yes, she's gorgeous.
Look at her with Ocean Colour Scene, aged 50+. Still gorgeous still nailed on perfect of voice.
Look at her with Ocean Colour Scene, aged 50+. Still gorgeous still nailed on perfect of voice.
Yes! That's what I've been trying and failing to say. Spot on, sir.
Brilliant singer, I remember Pp Arnold coming to the UK in the mid sixties. What a wonderful singer!
This is fantastic. She has a magnificent voice.
Here because of 8x13 of #TheBlacklist. Reddington & Anne's love story is SO heart-warming and heartbreaking.
Also FUN FACT: This song was written by Chip Taylor who is Angelina Jolie's paternal uncle. GENIUS SONGWRITING!!!
How I love this song, no words can tell it, beautiful and dramatic voice by P.P. Arnold. Amazing!
Still 40 years and love her voice
Most versions of this song are country-tinged.Great to hear a different take.....PP given' it a whole lotta soul!
Great song every version has been great !
Best version of this song I've ver heard so far.
I remember this version very well. A lovely song by a lovely lady. So very long ago...
I've found my new favorite version of this song.
this is just so incredible
what a brilliant singer, I remember her well in the 60's and this is still one of my favourite songs
P.P. ARNOLD Sie war eine bezaubernde Sängerin mit einer wunderschönen Stimme ,die tolle Stimme hat sie heute noch.❤
A rarely heard version of a timeless song.
The most beautiful voice I've heard !
Grandiosa version de mi canción favorita de toda la vida!
omg i loved this song i remember taping it off radio Luxembourg in the 1980s, love all her music 🎶 😍
P.P. version is the BEST! You can´t beat that voice!
Great version but I still like Evie Sands the best.
I agree.
Definitely the best
We saw PP Arnold at the st. Albans Arena she sang this song we met and talked to her she is a most charming lady you could ever meet to me she's the only person who can see this song it takes me back to my teen years
I remember hearing the Merilee Rush version as a kid. This is another great version.. I find it unusual. She starts off slow with not much intonation but then at the end she goes all out with gospel inspired shouts.
Not really gospel...
Such joy on her face , singing like an angel .
Well I've always loved this, I bought the original 45, still got it, still play it, love it!
Nice woman, I was lucky to see her performing live a few years ago, talking sweetly about her end of the 60s swinging london days
I love . love . love this song and PP ! Goosebumps forever!

Her voice is full of power and is beautiful. Perfect arrangement...Like the piano figures and the sound.
First time I’m hearing the original version. Lovely!!
I had the enormous pleasure of listening a version by Helen Francis, a young singer from Lincoln, UK.Overwhelming
Ooooh damn girl. How much FIRE can this be??? .... Wow. I LOVE IT.

Good Music Brings Back Really Really Good Memories
So very beautiful her voice :)
She never seemed to age. What a voice and how the sound of it kick starts so many long forgotten feelings in this old baby-boomer.

Great to hear this again by this great singer so many memories of this era. Thank you
I like the back up vocals as well
Beautiful ! See you at Southport in March 2015, PP. Great singer with 4 greatest songs of all time, not forgetting " Tin Soldier"
That bridge and then to the end, that's priceless 😍😍😍
Best version, in my (pretty worthless) opinion. I love P.P. Arnold.
Your opinion is as much as worth as anyone else’s never say anything of you is worthless!
Awe. Don't say that. I agree with your opinion btw.
Agreed
Wow! Never heard of her when I came out to check this particular song! Wonderful!!
Wow. Just brilliant.
Just discovered this version last year. The best version tbh
She and late dusty springfield did some of my fav covers about that hard and beautiful song
First saw her on a Small Faces Vid a couple of months ago. Became an instant admirerer.
That is groovy!
Very nice cover, thanks to PP. Arnold now and forever...
Outstanding version, love this song in many incarnations
pp arnold has an amazing album called Kafunta, also The First Lady-Kafunta is basicly a story of lost love and the return of love and all the tracks are interlaced with crying babies and thunder it was made in the 60/s and was a really inovative lp for the time
I'll look it up
Saying thanks to the poster of this video for writing the number of versions by different artists and the year. That's really helpful.
Was very lucky to see this lady with osc at Sheffield some time ago brilliant.
Fantastic... Sublime
Absolutely amazing and beautiful 🥰
One of the greatest singers on earth.... Period

On this day in 1968 {July 13th} P.P. Arnold performed her covered version of "Angel of The Morning"* on the German TV program, 'The Beat-Club'...
At the time the song was at #45 on the United Kingdom's Official Top 50 Singles chart, five weeks later it would peak at #29 {for 1 week}...
Between 1967 and 2005 the Los Angeles, California native had ten records on the UK Singles chart, one made the Top 10, "Evapor-8", a duet with Altern-8, it peaked at #6 in 1992...
She had two Top 20 records, "It's A Beautiful Thing" {#12 in 1998} and "Burn It Up" {#14 in 1988}...
P.P. Arnold, born Patricia Ann Cole, will celebrate her 74th birthday in three months on October 3rd, 2020...
* And from the 'For What It's Worth' department, on the same day P.P. Arnold appeared on 'The Beat-Club', in the U.S.A. on Billboard's Top 100 chart, Merrilee Rush's version of "Angel of The Morning" was in it's third of three weeks at #7, and that was also it's peak position on the Top 100...
