ITINERARY
Day 1
2100 Take Victory Liner bus from Pasay to Olongapo
0100 ETA Olongapo City
0200 Take jeep/tricycle to Sitio Cawag, Subic (power breakfast)
0300 ETA jumpoff secure guides
0330 Start trek
0730 Summit
0900 Start descent (hell mode activated)
1400 ETA Nagsasa Cove (cast away activated) late lunch
Day 2
Nagsasa Cove
1400 Back in Manila
BACKGROUND
Mt. Balingkilat, literally the “Mountain of Thunder” in the native Aeta language, is at 1100 MASL one of the highest peaks in the Zambales Coastal Mountains and Coves area, an emerging hiking hotspot within San Antonio and Subic towns that has scenic views and nice trails that interconnect high peaks and beautiful coves.
It was once known as ‘Pointed Peak’, a name that was used by US Navy servicemen who used to be stationed in nearby Subic Naval Base, but this title’s descriptive accuracy is valid only on certain vantage point. Moreover, out of respect for and appreciation of the indigenous people’s heritage, we are preferring the native name Balingkilat, and has re-emerged as the common name given to this mountain.

Mt. Balingkilat. First time hike ko dyan kaagad during summer days back in 2016. Kaso hindi namin na-summit kasi akala namin summit na yung sa camp site. I was dead that day. I returned 2 years after and summer parin. Mahirap, mainit, nakaka ubos ng pasensya at tubig. Pero babalik balikan ko parin sya. Love my mother mountain.

Yes kapag traverse to nagsasa cove It's a mojor hike lalo na pag ganito kainit ang panahon, suggest ko bring more water take a tour guide for safety
