"She was murdered. And you think I did it...."
(Pause. Runs away.)
"Did he...just throw my cat out the window?"
"No...I don't think so..."
LMAO! That took me a minute too. I laugh so fucking hard in the theatre at that line though, lol!
"Where's "Boy With Apple"?"
"None of your goddamn business!" LOL!
39:23 I think with M. Gustav and the various rich old ladies it was also a case of them knowing it was something of an illusion but they came back to the hotel because of that illusion - he made them feel cared for, happy, attractive and because he paid attention to those little details. Even if it is an act, he made them feel loved
Watching you laugh for so long to one of my favourite directors really made my day, thank you so much!
That painting he hangs in the place of ‘boy with apple’ is a Klimt. It’s an in joke because Klimt was a very naughty man but also a very valued artist.
I think you’d like The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel….about elderly British folks who go to India to live out their retirement years….very funny, heartfelt, and endearing.
And of course The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel afterwards.
And the famous 30s movie simply titled 'Grand Hotel'
Omg, I do agree, I absolutely love that movie!!
I haven't read enough of Stefan Zweigs work to know if there was a deliberate adaptation of his books, but I've read enough to know that you have to read his works to see how they inspired this movie - it's something about his writing that feels the same here even if it wasn't generally as funny as this movie was (this movie was like a combination of 30s comedies and Stefan Zweig's works). And in half the ones I've read there's always a case of a story being told, generally a story in a story.
After you watch this movie, you should watch schindlers list, both films feature the same actor Ralph Fiennes, and you can get a real feel for his acting range, he is a real star performer
This might be my favorite movie ever, and I agree that the painting of the two women is just so funny.
After the gut wrenching drama of Lord of The Rings, it's a real delight to see you laugh so heartily again.
This movie is so funny. I love it, i love it's art direction, it's cinematography, the direction and acting, the script, everything is great.
*its art direction.
I love this film, it's charming and moving and consistently clever.
Oh please consider watching, “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou”. It’s another Wes Anderson. “Moonrise Kingdom” is also great by Wes.
Your laughter at 23:00 is too good
If they had known how extremely valuable an Egon Schiele painting was about to become later on, they wouldn't have replaced this "Boy with an apple" painting by this on by any means and Dimitri would never had destroyed it. But so a piece of art, which today would be worth probably 20 million euros/dollars or even more, was smashed in a second.
Yes, I know it's a movie but this idea is just hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣
Crossed keys is the symbol of concierges - the guys who can get you the best seats at restaurants and seats at theatres. So it’s a secret society of concierges - guys who can organise anything.
This is a Wes Anderson movie and they all have his stamp on them. The Darjeeling limited is a similar style but after this one my favourite is Isle of Dogs, then The Darjeeling Limited. Wes Anderson is hugely loved by actors and he always puts lots of the same famous actors in his movies, even in small roles. That’s Tilda Swinton playing the countess.
Its a reference to the Italian comercial secret society, a secret society between landowners bussinesowners and other importal comercial charges.
Everything about this movie just vibes with me and my sense of humor. Love it. Also Mr.Gustave sometimes talks in a manner similar to mine which makes things even funnier. :'D
Let the Wes Anderson movies journey begin!
This film actually has a lot of metaphors about the second world war and the fall of the old European values, or the “enchanting old ruin”, as the film said. The “ZZ” symbol used by the army in the film is very similar to the “SS” and lightning symbol that Nazi used. The two times they encountered soilders in the train could be about the first and the second world war. In the first time, they were able to get out of the trouble because of Gustav’s acquaintance, which shows humanity and grace still remains even in war time, while the second time they were in the train the death squad murdered Gustav, which can be seen as about the cruelty and the destruction of humanity in the second world war
Wes Anderson's movies are a real treat. His tight formal camera framing is very stylised and his signature style.
Was wonderful seeing your reaction to this. You clearly saw the compassion and heart in this movie, as evidenced by the observations you made after watching. I was also tickled to see how much the humor resonated with you. I think this is easily the best work by Wes Anderson in just about every aspect, and the performance from Ralph Fiennes is somehow a career highlight in a career that only contains highlights.
This is one of my top 3 favorite movies of all time! Can’t wait to see your reaction! You should also try “The Royal Tenenbaums”, another awesome Wes Anderson movie. 🙂
Thank you Kevin!! & Thank you, K.S.O for the laughs!
I must say....besides your overall reaction, the highlight for me was when you broke out into hysterical laughter. :-) That was one of my favorite scenes as well! I know exactly what you mean. Once a hilarious visual plays over and over in your mind, you cannot help but laugh every single time.
Movies like this one is joyfully strange, and entertaining again and again :-)
Great film - one of Wes' best and most ambitious films; glad you enjoyed it (that one laughing jag you had had me LOL!) You need to see RUSHMORE too.
You should watch, fantastic Mr. Fox and Isle of dogs. Both written and directed by the same director. Very funny.👍
Love that laugh with the knee slapping. Keep reacting!
Nominated for 9 Oscars including Best Picture but won for:
Best Costume Design
Best Makeup
Best Original Score
Best Production Design
It lost Best Picture to BIRDMAN or The Virtue of Ignorance.
I adore Wes Andersons films and this is my favourite. I would also recommend "Moonrise kingdom" and "Isle of dogs"
Such a beautifully filmed, amusing & heartwarming movie 💜 -x-
Another day returning for this reaction. Another day made happier for it. Thank you.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time! I've seen it about ten times and I love it each time. Wes Anderson is such an eclectic and charming storyteller. I've seen all of his films but this one to me is the best. Great reaction!
This is one of my many favorite films I love to watch. I feel fancy when watching this!
Wes Anderson films are moving works of art. You should look into all of them. A couple of my favorites are Isle of Dogs (animated) and Moonrise Kingdom.
I adore this film! One I will watch again and again for many years to come.
I hope you get to see other Wes Anderson films such as Moonrise Kingdom and Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
This is my favourite Wes Anderson movie closely followed by moonrise kingdom
I'm glad you liked the movie, I loved to see you laugh so much!
THANK YOU DARLN'
The Darjeeling limited is a similar style but after this one my favorite.
Another brilliant reaction try In Bruges funny but tragic film at some point also features Ralph Fienes
This movie is brilliant! 🤣 I hope you enjoy it
"NOBODY MOVE! EVERYONE'S UNDER ARREST!"
I loved laughing with you!!
In the 32 there was a movie called Grand Hotel. Greta Garbo most famous line came from this movie." I want to be alone"
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😉
There are people who don't like this movie; I feel very sorry for them. :)
Great movie..
8:10 My experience every time I was trying to cross Ukrainian border while still having USSR passport on me... Oof.
When I watch this movie I get the special mints I feel goes well with this movie. The meltable mints I feel give this movie a nice touch.
Your laughter is quite infectuous, lol.
HIGHLY recommend watching The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou(2004) since you loved this movie so much. It's also directed and co-written by Wes Anderson.
