Installing a Wireless Controller on your Dump Trailer

- Installing a $18 wireless controller in a Dump Trailer!
In this video I will go over installing a wireless controller in my dump trailer. This controller was purchased from Amazon for only $18 and so far its been working great!
Please note that this installation will require some knowledge of 12 Volt electrical systems, and should be performed at your own risk.
*MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL A FUSE FROM ON THE POWER FEED FROM THE BATTERY TO THE WIRELESS CONTROLLER*
If you to not have the know how or are uncomfortable performing this type of of install/modification then I recommend you seek professional help.

I was wondering the same thing about the fuse. I have the same set up and I used a 15 amp diode
Any idea what brand or style of circuit breaker that is? I'm having issues finding that style.. Seems like all the ones on amazon are push button reset only, not actual on/ off.
Wandering if anyone knows that the wireless receiver has a continuous amp draw and will run your battery down if you don't put in some sort of a power cut off switch to the hot lead of the wireless receiver. This can also be done without the diodes by using fused relays.
I did a 300 amp Blue Sea battery cut off switch that disconnects all power to everything except for the DC to DC charger from the truck and Solar input charger to the battery.
I would assume there is going to be some type of low power draw that the receiver uses as it’s searching for input from the remote. This is the reason I installed a the trip style fuse with on off switch. I leave it off until I get to where I’m dumping. I also don’t know if there are any devices (frequencies l) that might trigger the receiver to lift the dump while I’m driving…. I don’t have must trust in these cheap Amazon devices, but it has worked flawless time after time. People still look at me with that confused look as I’m backing in and the dump is already going up. In and out quick, especially if it’s an extra smelly day at the city dump.
What size diode did you use
Does your solenoid click fast and repeatedly while you press up? My solenoid clicks really fast as it moves up. My down feature is fine
My solenoid clicks only once to activate and stays on continuously as the button is pressed on both my wired and wireless controller. Does this happen to you when using both wired and wireless?

@@torojunkremovalSD are you using the same wireless remote as mine? Only thing I can think of is an intermittent signal or wire connection causing your issue. Make sure remote battery is good also.

20 amp might be a bit high, the circuit is low amp, it is just for tripping the relay that transfers the big power. I would say 10 or 15amp is plenty. I only used the push button type breaker because I had one laying around, and it was easier than an inline fuse and a on off switch. I like the idea of turning it off when not in use, as I don’t know if and how much of a power draw the wireless box has.
