Michelle Beadle joins us today to talk about the Spurs draft, the rebuild, Wemby and the NBA finals. It’s episode 109 of the Sneakers and Cleats podcast!
The one thing I like about this draft for the spurs is there options at the small/power forwards! I would be in for a point guard, but I'm just not seeing them in this draft, but I'm seeing a lot of 6'7"+ wings that would be nice to have on our undersized team!
Nice show overall. Always love seeing and hearing Beadle. But Don with the Spurs "missed draft picks" bit and then using the Vassell /Sochan drafts as examples. My goodness, what rubric is he using? How their stats are in 3 or 4 years and that's it? Is that what drafting talent is all about, and not a long term investment? Everyone at the time of the 2020 draft knew that Haliburton was a sure thing short term but felt he had a lower ceiling than others, and folks were a little surprised he fell to 12. Vassell was drafted with a floor as a 3-n-D wing and a higher ceiling if he could development his overall offensive game, which he is right on schedule for. And yes, he could still finish with a better overall career than Haliburton. Same deal with Williams having been someone the Spurs "missed" on in 2022. I really like his game and how he adds so much to OKC right off the bat, but there's not a chance I would trade him for Jeremy straight up. Sochan is already the best defender and rebounder out of the four guys mentioned here, and he has shown obvious improvement offensively from year one to two. The dude could be a perennial DPOTY candidate and be a vital connector piece offensively for a title team, a la Draymond Green, and it would still be a "miss" by San Antonio's front office? I don't get it. Both of these Spurs are younger than the two other players they're compared with, too. Who knew that your entire career value could be called at age 23 and 21.
Remember how Don tweeted Devin as selfish and making boneheaded decision, Devin clapped back with Jeremy joining to defend Devin yeah Don ain't unbiased to those 2 Other wise why not bring malaki and Kessler to the convo with hitting on picks
Haliburton is a solid player but a lead guard. We had DJ when Vassell was drafted. To say that the Spurs missed on that pick isn't correct. Spurs picked Vassell as a shooting guard. Haliburton 17.2 ppg @ 32 minutes per game shooting 39.3 from 3. Vassell 13.6 ppg @ 27 minutes per game with 36.9 from 3. Considering TH plays more minutes per game slightly their PPG and 3P percentage is the same. The Spurs made the correct pick there.
Beadle with Max Kellerman and Marcellus Wiley was the best sports show of all time.... their chemistry was unmatched... that show was so good...
Where did Don get that shirt? I like it
Fire 🔥🔥🔥

Haliburton is a really bad defender, so his good impact is mild. And Jalen Williams is a miss but sochan can still be a good player

WTF?!?! Delusionals of Grandeur! B. Wright F'up not getting Haliburton, Poole n so many other players....
Parker advanced stats are significantly bad compared to manu especially in the playoffs
If Sheppard isn’t there at #4…I’m taking Devin Carter.
#8 going is a toss up for me. Spurs just can’t miss.
Castle at 4 and Dillingham at 8 obvious
Thank God you’re not in charge
@@Ptally No defense Dillingham is not needed. There are enough players on the Spurs who are not good at playing defense.
I would pass on Sheppard, period. But I do like Devin Carter, a true point guard.
@@sarahmccoy1941carter doesn't pass, he is a shooting guard
Jalen Williams is better than sochan right now but he’s 3 years older.
we also gotta look at chemistry and its known that Sochan and Wemby grew up together playing together and playing against each other
.
Hate to say it, but Don Harris day dreams during your podcast or is on drugs 😆
FAIL! Alvin Robertson is #4 all time best ever SPUR or #5 after Wemby era...not Parker or Manu they benefited of Duincan. Retire his jersey already!!!
