A Stolen Life is a 1946 American drama film starring Bette Davis, who also produced it. The film, based on the 1935 novel A Stolen Life by Karel Josef Benes, and was directed by Curtis Bernhardt. Among the supporting cast are Glenn Ford, Dane Clark, Peggy Knudsen, Charlie Ruggles, and Bruce Bennett. The movie is a remake of a 1939 British film Stolen Life starring Elisabeth Bergner and Michael Redgrave.
Lux Radio Theatre, sometimes spelled Lux Radio Theater, a classic radio anthology series, was broadcast on the NBC Blue Network (1934-35) (owned by the National Broadcasting Company, later predecessor of American Broadcasting Company [ABC] in 1943-1945); CBS Radio network (Columbia Broadcasting System) (1935-54), and NBC Radio (1954-55). Initially, the series adapted Broadway plays during its first two seasons before it began adapting films. These hour-long radio programs were performed live before studio audiences. The series became the most popular dramatic anthology series on radio, broadcast for more than 20 years and continued on television as the Lux Video Theatre through most of the 1950s. The primary sponsor of the show was Unilever through its Lux Soap brand. (Wikipedia)

Lying here on my sofa with eyes closed you can picture the whole story. I've seen the movie version. This was just as grand if not more. Thanks. I thought I'd doze off but no. Miss Davis kept me happily awake 😁

Nice story. When the sisters were out on the boat, it reminded me of the movie with Claude Rains, Mr. Skeffington. I think I spelled that right.

It was also a film with Bette Davis also playing both parts, I think Robert Ryan played the artist .

Thankfully, no soap hustling at the end of this one --
it would've trivialized the ending and so the production.

I apologise but having been brought up in a generation of women who understand the meaning of equal opportunity in its entirety it is impossible for me to applaud a play such as this. I cringed all the way through it. Having said this I appreciate that some of the actors were icons in their time who trail blazed the road to open up to cinema as well as using female actresses for their talent and to be taken seriously and for that I am thankful.
