  • In this tutorial, I will teach you how to make the Daft Punk Vocoder in Ableton. This particular one is the one from Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.
    Note that this is just a remake with the Ableton Live vocoder. In their original song, they most likely used a talkbox (which is a different effect all together). However, the sound of this vocoder is still pretty similar.

    Super good! Short and sweet. Have you tried other vocoders like Arturias? I found them very tricky to get a good tone. Spectral resonator i found to also produce good textures with voice

    • @MattFlanc
      @MattFlanc  Před 3 lety +1

      Maybe it's a shame but I actually haven't😅 I have read some good things about Reason's BV512. It should be very capable to get a Daft Punk ish sound. Interesting! I'll give the spectral resonator a shot too then!

  • @aliice_qt

    I'm not that familiar in using Ableton Live, but I am familiar with reaper. I wonder if there's a way to get the same vocoder effect for reaper.

    • @MattFlanc
      @MattFlanc  Před 3 lety

      There definitely is a way. If you know how a vocoder works you should be able to apply this technique to pretty much any vocoder

    • @gorkskoal9315
      @gorkskoal9315 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes their is. I haven't used reaper for ages. In fancy speak it's a side chain stunt. What that means for a vocoder? just making how you talk, or sing sound like a robot. (Daft punk, tpain, a lot of cRap). All you need to do is check if you can make a filter for Reaper.

    Am I able to download this in studio one professional? I downloaded it and extracted the file but nothing is popping up in studio one. It doesn’t even recognize it as a VST plugin. How do you download it and install it?

    • @MattFlanc
      @MattFlanc  Před rokem

      Unfortunately not. It’s not a VST plugin, it is a preset for the Ableton stock vocoder (so it only works in Ableton)

    • @MattFlanc
      @MattFlanc  Před 2 lety +3

      There's two things that come to mind:
      1. You have the frequency range of the vocoder set incorrectly
      2. The synth is not playing in the correct range.
      Have you tried the demo set that's included?

    • @downthedrain_82
