Hi Sweet Friends, Today I am making Fish Bone Broth which can be ready in 45 minutes. It's rich in protein but even better - it's rich in iodine to support thyroid health. And the good news is that is costs only $10 to make over a gallon of broth! Love, Mary

Dearest Mary, In my first 25 years of age I was eating all fish dishes, because the place I lived had big lake, several rivers big and small, pristine Adriatic Sea water. Sometimes, we’ll have Fish soup over polenta for dinner. My dear mother continued cooking when we arrived in U.S.A. I wasn’t wise enough to write any of her recipes, and now thanks to you and your superb knowledge and how to go about getting more fish bones you have me back on the healthy road. Thank you 🙏 💐🤗🎵🎶🕊

I grew up eating fish soup, cow foot soup, chicken soup and they were such a great foundation in my health. Another fabulous tutorial. I have never thought of asking my fish monger for bones and heads, I've always waited (forever) until I had some in my freezer. That meant I really didn't have fish stock for a variety of dishes (I like adding it to cajun with fish/shrimp recipes). Now I'll be able to make and freeze or can some to put on my shelf. Thank you!

@@MarysNest I subscribed to your channel about a month ago and watched a good number of your videos regarding beef and chicken bone broth. So far I've only made beef twice. The first time produced a gelatinous consistency, but the second time didn't (I think I added too much water). In regards to other traditional foods, I'm still a newb. I only hauled out the slow cooker a few months back, experimenting with healthier eating to support weight loss.
My version of traditional cooking is the bare basics which includes peeling and chopping carrots, butternut squash, turnip, ect. And with potato, I often leave the skin on. With these kind of chopped veggies, I throw them in the crock pot with a few cups of store bought salt-free or homemade broth and some boneless chicken or beef. Crock pot dishes often gets frozen in separate zip lock bags for future lunches. These better versions of frozen dinners beats McDonald's and Swanson!

I made broth from salmon head and cuttings. After I put the left over bones and fat line meat + skin and some broth into the blender. This creates a creamy broth. Zero waste from the fish. I think it tastes very good and must be packed with nutrients.

Lily Pierre - Hi Lily, Thanks so much for visiting! The oils in oily fish are highly perishable. So simmering them for 30-45 minutes can cause them to become rancid and create an off-putting taste in the broth. Hope this helps. BTW - Do you enjoy making traditional foods?
