    Micro greens are a blast! I love using them in omelets just before you fold them, and with a bunch in top. Yum! Having a dinner party with soup and salad - having a row micro greens on a lazy Susan at the table and a scissor as part of the silverware so people can cut their own is a great way to introduce folks to micro greens!

    Great video, thanks 😄clear, concise and well presented! I noticed you put the seeds directly into the sun, while I have seen other people starting the seeds in complete darkness (ie. a tray with seeds and another tray stacked inside to simulate the weight of soil and lack of light underground) for 3 or 4 days, the idea being the sprouts start off stronger and begin to lift the tray on top of them. Then you take it off and give full sunlight and they explode. Have you experimented with that method to compare to full sunlight from the start?

    • @GetUrbanLeaf
      @GetUrbanLeaf  Před rokem

      some can be grown a bit more, but generally after harvest you just replant and 7-10 days later you'll have more. The reason we use separate small trays is so you can have a staggered start and therefore a constant and rotating supply.

    Most videos I’ve watched say keep the seeds in the dark and put the Micro Greens in the light after they’ve started to grow…about the fourth day. I’m wondering why you don’t do that?

    • @GetUrbanLeaf

    Do you ever cook the microgreens? Maybe you loose the nutrition?

    • @GetUrbanLeaf
      @GetUrbanLeaf  Před 2 lety

      Most people do not cook them because they lose some of that signature fresh microgreens flavor. Also when reduced down by heat you'd end up with micro-microgreens, similarly to how spinach or other leafy greens lose a lot of volume when cooked.

    • @JWHealing
      @JWHealing Před rokem

      For cooked mini greens I'd suggest mung bean sprouts. They are more substantial so are nice lightly cooked, say in a noodle dish with lots of veggies, garlic etc.
