  • The first part of the Ateneo/Manila Observatory forum on Laudato Si, Aug. 13, 2015 at the Henry Lee Irwin Theatre. Guest speaker at the forum was Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle.
Cardinal Tagle delivered a brief synopsis of the papal encyclical and discussed how Pope Francis is calling for a re-examination of the highly anthropocentric and haphazard way of living that has led to the steady decline of our planet.
The key term he used was “integral ecology” - the recognition of the many facets of an environmental issue that is not only affecting human beings but also every other creature on earth, to which the former is fundamentally connected.
Cardinal Tagle stressed how the problem is simultaneously economic, social, environmental, political, and cultural in nature, especially when dealing with how it has been affecting those in what the pope termed las periferias existenciales - the existential margins.

Now, I see wonder in Laudatu Si which I was prejudiced, listening to Cardinal Chico opens a lot of options for discussion. Thank you Cardinal, today I am confused but opens avenues for conversations. God bless ...

His talks are interesting steps, slowly and surely in all respects, known to each individual at growing up stages,
to each his own rich or poor through the passing life stages of holiness one goes through according to his or her historic God given knowledge information

Yes, Sharing is Caring even with financial assistance and knowledge the person goes through in a technological way - leaving it to each individual accordingly hence debating is necessary by sharing news and views

"The primary mission of Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of mankind, was not to take care of the material wellbeing of the planet, but to save immortal souls for eternal life in heaven" - Bishop Athanasius Schneider

Are you sure about that? Without material wellbeing, our 'faith' is not 'incarnate'... and without compassion for the material world given to us, we will be ill-equipped for eternal life would be hell...

    After Laudato Si:
Bless me Father for I have sinned. My sins are:
    1. I threw my garbage into the creek.
    2. I burned my garbage and released carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
    3. I kept my car engine running to keep the air in my car cool.
    4. But the biggest of my sins, Father, I pray that God forgives me,.. I did not segregate my garbage into biodegradable and non-biodegradable.
    LAUDATO SERIOUSLY?
