    Just seeing this several years later as I have the same issue on my '06 Ultra, but another method to fix those is to cut some pieces off of a zip tie and put them in the hole. Heat up the knurled piece and push it back into the hole. The heat will melt the zip tip pieces to the fairing and also to the knurled piece once again providing the grip needed to keep it in place. :)

      Sounds like a good idea too. I suppose a epoxy resin would work great too. Thanks for watching Mike.

    Thanks very much for posting this Video! However, the material that the inner fairing is constructed is ABS plastic as opposed to fiberglass. I thank you again for bringing this repair product to our attention. Great job! Very old Navy saying, if ain't broke, don't fix it!

      Jason Buchanan I wish I would’ve put her in the video because she passed away in November. She’s a German short haired pointer.

    Will this work for the bottom screws also ? I have one that is stripped and won’t go in all the way

      I’m not sure. You’re gonna have to make the call. Thanks for watching

    How do you get old ones out? Have one that is striped will not move .

      One of the three was missing already. The other one started spinning when I was tightening the screw and the third one I left in because it was sill tight. They’re just knurled and pressed in, so I would think if you can get a bite, some vice grips would work with a little finesse. If not, maybe get some kind of self tapping screw and try to thread it in being careful not to stress the fiberglass too much. You can try a screw extractor. Don’t use any heat from a flame, but a drill and a close sized drill bit will produce enough friction heat that after a minute of creating drilling, switch immediately to the extractor and try that. Get the extractor that you have to screw in not pound in.

      What ever you end up doing, do not make the whole bigger in the fiberglass that the original screw is pressed into because if you do the screws from the won’t work.

    What to do if the fiberglass is cracks? Why you do not fully screwed the inserts?

    • @TheCoffeeguy67
      @TheCoffeeguy67  Před 5 lety

      I could only screw it in that far because I didn’t want to crack the fiberglass. It’s that tight. It doesn’t get in the way of anything if it’s not all the way in. I suppose if you crack the fiberglass it’d be a tough fix. You could probably contact the manufacturer with that question. Thanks for watching.

    Can’t you just use super glue or something?

    • @TheCoffeeguy67
      @TheCoffeeguy67  Před 4 měsíci

      I personally would not recommend that. There’s a lot of stress involved and I wouldn’t trust superglue on something that expensive to fix if it flies off in a windstorm. Thank you for watching.
