      red green colorblindness actually doesn't affect how you see red and green specifically, you just don't have as many color receptors of those kinds in your eyes. I'm red-green colorblind and I can see both perfectly fine.

    For those of you panicking at not being able to see the following, calm down, they're meant for colorblind people only to see. If you can't see them, that's normal, if you can see them, it doesn't necessarily mean you're colorblind, but it's possible.
    10:15 this is a yellow-grey 5 on a greyscale background.
    10:21 This is a 7 on greyscale. It's really hard to see if you're not the right type of colorblind, but you can see the angle of it in the upper right to be sure.
    10:29 This is a teal-grey 4 on a greyscale background. This one isn't as difficult to see for colored vision people, but just in case.
    10:45 this is a 1. This one isn't a colorblind only one, I just saw people asking about it.

  • @pedrostormrage
    @pedrostormrage Před 6 lety +414

    Red-green color blindness is more common in men because the genes for both red and green color perception are linked to the X chromosome, and the alleles (versions of these genes) that cause color blindness are recessive (meaning that someone will only have color blindness if all of their X chromosomes have those color blindness alleles). Since men have a single copy of the X chromosome (which came from their mother) per somatic (non reproductive) cell, they are more easily affected by color blindness. Women, on the other hand, have two copies of X chromosome per somatic cell (thus, they will be fully affected by color blindness only if both of their X chromosomes have these recessive alleles, which makes them less prone to color blindness). Fun fact: since one of the two X chromosomes per each cell in a woman's body gets inactivated, a woman who only has color blindness alleles on a single X chromosome can still have retinal cells affected by color blindness, but usually there are still enough working cells for them to tell apart red from green.

    When you get your glasses... try them on for the first time on camera and then take the tests again. You could look at some iconic red pictures too. (Since that is the color that is affected.) For example strawberries, pokeballs, a sunset, fall leaves, and so on. Just an idea...

    I've taken a couple of tests, (actual tests, not just the online tests) and I have better than normal color vision. I can guarantee that all of the ones in the first test had the right numbers, and I can see why you guessed what you did on the two testing for red/green color blindness at the end. The first one had yellowish orange dots connecting the space between the upper and lower parts of the 8, which I guess looked similar enough to the green that you couldn't see the difference between them. Same thing with the 74, except with a yellowish green. Most of the ones in the second test had numbers in them, but a couple of them were just random grey dots, probably just used as a control to tell if someone was just randomly guessing.
    Going back to the dress thing, I've always seen it as blue and black, nothing else. It's a really vivid blue too. I legitimately can't tell in any way whatsoever how anyone could ever possibly see it as white and gold. It's really interesting to me to think that someone could see color so differently. Apparently those glasses enhance color contrast even more for people with normal color vision, so I'd also be curious to try them out at some point if I ever got the chance.

Everyone is different and that applies to why they wear glasses or how colorblind they are too. red-green color blindness is a recessive trait caused by a mutation in the x chromosome.
    Since a male is xy and a female is xx if they both receive one mutated x chromosome the male will be color blind since he has no normal copy of the gene and a female will have perfect vision due to the other x chromosome

    What is happening here is that the parts in your eye that see the colors from red to orange and green to yellow, are overlapping each other. This means that you can see the color perfectly if you only look at it alone, but when looking at the colors together, your brain won’t be able to figure out which color you are looking at. It will cancel out big parts. Pretty fascinating if you ask me:))

    Color blindness has always fascinated me, because my dad is red green color blind, while I have perfect color vision. So every now and then we’ll get into arguments over what color something is, and then he’ll claim I’m just messing with him because of his “disability” 😂
    His color blindness used to really upset him, especially since it’s what got him kicked out of the Air Force. His dream was to be an air traffic controller, but that’s one of those jobs that becomes difficult/impossible when you can’t see colors properly. But now he’s come to terms with it, and I can poke fun at him whenever we’re shopping for furniture or something. He tells people I’m his “seeing eye daughter” and my job is to make sure he doesn’t buy a couch that clashes with the carpet, lmao.

    I can see pretty much all colo(u)rs, but I'm near sighted (Myopic) and somethings I see are a bit shaky. so overall I am extreamly nearsighted I can barley read a sign with big text from about four feet away without my glasses on, and on top of that I also see things shaking or more then is actually there.

    Color blindness is what is known as a x-linked trait. Meaning that is carried on the x chromosome. Since females have 2 x chromosomes one can act as a "back up" if the other has the trait. But males only have 1 x chromosome.

    i got them all right but i can honestly see how some people would have issues, especially when a lot of the colors are so close to each other on the "color wheel". things become muddled and im sure it makes it super difficult. so glad color blind mode is a thing

      @@sharleezajuillerat450 Yeah when I was in university I took a class on color science and my male professor was actually red green colorblind. If I remember correctly colorblindness genes are carried on the X chromosome which is why men are way more likely to have any form of it, if women have colorblindness then they have to have gotten the gene from both of their parents whereas men only need it from one parent.

    I have a friend who is colorblind. Earlier today, his girlfriend pointed out a painting that was completely purple on a panel that had only red, green, blue, and purple paintings and said "Hey, look, I love this purple one!" He looked at her and said "I have no idea what purple looks like. Most of these look blue" I looked at her shirt and noticed it was blue, purple and black, and I ALMOST asked him what color her shirt was, but I didn't want to seem rude, so I didn't.

    • @davidlessard3877
      @davidlessard3877 Před 6 lety +3

      nah it's not rude, actually it's very practical for a colourblind person when their friends point out what they're wearing XD
      well, at least that's my experience coming from a family where 1 in 2 men are colourblind.

      Enchroma glasses don't actually fix colorblindness, they just filter out a certain color so that others look more vibrant and it makes the illusion of normal vision, but its really not.
