I can personally account for how many people lost their shit after being there in person. I lost my hearing in my left ear for 15 minutes. That's how crazy people got, myself included. It's one thing to watch the trailer from home but to see it there with that many people was one of a kind.

When we saw the movie in theater on opening night (actually, we got it a day early, so opening night minus one day), the fire alarm went off. Only a handful of people started heading towards the exits. When it turned out it was a false alarm, someone said "That's what I love about Star Wars fans. We'd all rather burn to death than miss this." The fire alarm went off a second time a few minutes in. Nobody moved. Nobody died, incidentally, it was a false alarm. If anyone had bothered to determine who did it, I doubt that person would be moving today. As is, we got a complimentary show for our inconvenience. Which I intend to use on Episode VIII: The Force Yawns, Hits Snooze, Rolls Over, And Goes Back To Sleep.
+alan morton more than likely to do it, cause it simply doesnt get bigger than Star Wars....No marvel movie, Bond movie, Pixar movie or freaking Bayformers movie (thank God) is ever able to break 2 billion worldwide, but this movie has every potential to break Avatar's 2.77 billion record and go for even 3 billion...much depends on Chinese market though, if the movie is well received there, then it has the potential to do just that.
The Force Awakens will always have a very special place in my heart, as it was the first Star Wars movie I saw in theaters, and it'll always be remembered as a worldwide event. Man, Star Wars was back after so many years. What a time that was

Even knowing what happened to these movies, this brings me back to the energy that was present at that convention when the possibilities of what they were going to do were endless. The end of this trailer is EASILY in the top 5 trailer reveals. I won't watch the sequels that much, but I'll watch this any day.
The trilogy was a mess and a train wreck (wish we'd gotten duel of the fates instead would've fixed more) but this energy, community and love was something I will never, ever forget. Plus we got Luke in Mandalorian which brought us back together.

Watching this video literally make me tear up. It's the fan's devotion and the spirit of Star Wars that really gets to me. When Han and Chewie appeared on screen everyone went crazy with Joy and Happiness. That is what I love about star wars the most. The Fans... That movie was absolutely amazing, watched it 4 times in cinema, once on opening night. Truly magnificent piece of work JJ.

No Marvel movie or any other than Star Wars or Avatar sequels/prequels can even go beyond 2 billion worldwide, so this is going to be a quite rare thing to see. I’ll always maintain that Force Awakens was a great movie and set the groundwork for what should have been an incredible trilogy. Unfortunately there was never a unified vision or plan for the rest of the movies which is why the trilogy became so messy and void of what makes Star Wars special
I agree. There was so much unlocked potential with these characters in TFA, but the arrogance of the the executive leadership and their disconnect with the fans destroyed it. They won't even admit they screwed up. They seemed to just quietly hand the torch over to others more capable of maintaining the integrity of Star Wars. I'm hoping with Filoni bringing elements of Timothy Zhan's novels (i.e. Thrawn) and Clone Wars/Rebels will usher in a new timeline completely, not simply fill in the gaps between the trilogies.
Completely agree. The potential this trilogy had was insane. Rey should have remained a nobody (though still force sensitive) Finn should have been a Jedi in training too, Kylo should have turned to the light side at the end of Force Awakens. Rest of the trilogy should have been the three of them going on a classic star wars adventure with Luke as their teacher. Leia's force abilities should have been shown more as well.

Force Awakens was the fucking greatest shit when it came out, man. There was so much hype, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I'll always remember the first time I saw it and no matter how much hate it gets now it can't take away from how good it was.
My mother was a huge Star Wars fan. She took me to see the OG when I was 5 years old on opening day. Sadly, she passed July 12 of 2015. My daughter started a Reddit post to get her a private screening of this film, but to no avail. I did, however, get to show her this trailer just before she died. She cried. Then I cried. On opening day, I bought an extra ticket and took a large framed photo of her to put in the seat next to me. The memorial tattoo on my arm and my daughter's arm as well reads: "The Force is with me."
God, looking at this there was so much potential the sequels could have had. My dad is a very hard Star Wars fan to please and even he was absolutely thrilled with the force awakens. I really wish the following 2 movies were better and it hurts

I swear to god, I'm a grown ass man in his 40's, and I tear up every time at 'we're home' - a combination of the line, Han, and the crowd going mental just kill me.
I saw this film on the premiere. The theatre was absolutely full, people were noisy over the trailers and what not. Then the screen went black and the "A long time ago..." text appeared. The room was so quiet you could hear someone's breathing. But there was none: everyone was just holding their breath. Then the fanfare began with the STAR WARS logo on the screen and holy cow, it was like the second coming of Jesus. People were not cheering, they were fucking ROARING. As much criticism this trilogy got, those months surrounding the premiere of Force Awakens were just magical.

I'm still 100% certain that the "Chewie, we're home" line was written and included in the trailer specifically as a subtle, subconscious promise to Star Wars fans that everything is going to be OK. It was JJ and Kathleen Kennedy and everyone else involved saying, it's OK, don't worry, we've got this, and we promise not to burn you guys like George did.

TRoS: Better than TLJ, but would have been great if JJ didn't have to do damage repair from Rian's deviation from the intended outline for the trilogy (which Kathleen Kennedy gave him permission to ignore) Now they're supposedly talking about "resetting" the sequel trilogy using a plot element taken from Star Wars Rebels called "The Veil of the Force". Essentially, episode 7, 8 and 9 happened in a different dimension/universe. Could be a good thing if they do it right. Redo it without actually canceling the original sequel trilogy.

Force Awakens was the fucking greatest shit when it came out, man. There was so much hype, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I'll always remember the first time I saw it and no matter how much hate it gets now it can't take away from how good it was.

After watching the movie three times (at least for now) I still come back occasionally to watch this video. Them feels are strong with this one.
One of my favourite parts of this video is when everyone cheers AGAIN at the Lucasfilms title. God, these fans rock.
My mother was a huge Star Wars fan. She took me to see the OG when I was 5 years old on opening day. Sadly, she passed July 12 of 2015. My daughter started a Reddit post to get her a private screening of this film, but to no avail. I did, however, get to show her this trailer just before she died. She cried. Then I cried. On opening day, I bought an extra ticket and took a large framed photo of her to put in the seat next to me. The memorial tattoo on my arm and my daughter's arm as well reads: "The Force is with me."
God, looking at this there was so much potential the sequels could have had. My dad is a very hard Star Wars fan to please and even he was absolutely thrilled with the force awakens. I really wish the following 2 movies were better and it hurts
I think if ROS hadn’t tried to retcon TLJ the trilogy would have been better received. At least it would have been more coherent.

I swear to god, I'm a grown ass man in his 40's, and I tear up every time at 'we're home' - a combination of the line, Han, and the crowd going mental just kill me.

Even now in 2021, I still get the goosebumps watching the trailer and reaction from the best fans in the World!
I saw this film on the premiere. The theatre was absolutely full, people were noisy over the trailers and what not. Then the screen went black and the "A long time ago..." text appeared. The room was so quiet you could hear someone's breathing. But there was none: everyone was just holding their breath. Then the fanfare began with the STAR WARS logo on the screen and holy cow, it was like the second coming of Jesus. People were not cheering, they were fucking ROARING.
As much criticism this trilogy got, those months surrounding the premiere of Force Awakens were just magical.
I WAS there, and my f**king ears are still ringing to this day!

It has been over 3 years since this video was posted, and I still tear up when Han comes on.
I'm still 100% certain that the "Chewie, we're home" line was written and included in the trailer specifically as a subtle, subconscious promise to Star Wars fans that everything is going to be OK.
It was JJ and Kathleen Kennedy and everyone else involved saying, it's OK, don't worry, we've got this, and we promise not to burn you guys like George did.

Now they're supposedly talking about "resetting" the sequel trilogy using a plot element taken from Star Wars Rebels called "The Veil of the Force". Essentially, episode 7, 8 and 9 happened in a different dimension/universe. Could be a good thing if they do it right. Redo it without actually canceling the original sequel trilogy.

First time I saw this trailer , when Han and Chewie appear, I laughed. But because I was so happy to see my childhood staring back at me! Laughter because of joy ! That’s never happened to me before!
I wish I was there with all the fans, I cannot stop watching and listening to the reaction, absolute genius & priceless !!!!
My very favorite part, as many would agree, is when Han Solo and Chewbacca appear at the trailer's end before the title drop and the crowd goes WILD with happiness!
