  • Heading down the Great Eastern Mainline is the Class 745. These have been running Intercity & Stansted Express service since 2019.
    The Stadler Class 745 FLIRT are electric multiple unit passenger trains. they are built by Stadler and form part of the FLIRT family. The 745 is built for Greater Anglia for use on their inter-city services and the Stansted Express services. After construction between 2018 and 2020 in Switzerland they entered service on 8 January 2020.
    Alan Thomson Simulation and AND Games are very proud to present the Class 745 for Train Simulator Classic. These have been designed and built to be ‘study level’ additions to the simulator and offer the best immersion possible. The build process was assisted and supervised by real life train drivers who drive the units in reality and we have done everything possible to recreate them as true to life possible.

      At the end of the day you have to be honest, there is no point showing something and glossing over things that need fixing that are evident. At the end of the day its an enjoyable unit to drive, i understand its not for everyone with the pricing and that's totally fair.

    The main thing that has pushed up the price in my opinion is the ridiculous subscription model of ATS. If you pay them £32 a year, you get the train for up to 50% less. But I don't want to keep subscribed so I can continue to receive updates. I want to buy the product and own it. It's pointless to get this train if you don't have the subscription, the main route you'd want to use this on, the GEML (modern version), you can't even buy separately. The JT Metropolitan line was expensive, but at least once you bought it, you owned it. Terrible greed.

    Used to travel on 745/755s all the time when living in Ipswich and the sounds are good especially at high speed, however the motors sound a little synthetic and there's a drop in pitch at around 15/20mph which i never noticed when travelling on them. If the motor sounds could have a bit more bass to them it would be pretty spot on from what I can remember.

  • @djappnew

    Only seem glimpses because as soon as I saw the price it was a non starter for me. But i'd happily lose some of the features for a reduction in price I don't care if you can change the passengers temperatures for example lol. Sorry not for me the 185 is much better bang for buck. Effectively for me it would be £32 for a subscription to get a half decent route for it to run on then another £28 odd for the FLIRT which isnt the most exciting stock for me personally. Remember this was also meant to be a 745/755 package and i'm assuming they'll be charging more for the 755 on top so its a non starter for me sadly. Hopefully some routes to come next...

    • @TrainSim_TV
      @TrainSim_TV  Před 2 měsíci +3

      Personally i was expecting the price to match the 185 overall. As even that is rather on the high end of pricing compared with AP. But that's fair play, as ive said to others in comments below and above the pack wont be for everyone and the heavy price tag it has attached will of scared a big portion of this lets be honest dying community. TS player numbers are dropping which really at the end of the day you want to make a pack that appeals to the masses and the price needs to match that.
      Hopefully the flirt will have a sale in time however to maybe draw in users who took a look and said no right away.
      The 755 is i believed to be a separate pack in the future. Though im pretty sure as you say in the earlier days of its development was dubbed as a duo pack.
      The train itself is nice however and drives lovely. But its a niche thats not for all players with the small useage route wise you will get with what is available.

    Those 'incomplete boxes' are not boxes. They are bolted on weights added after testing showed the train to be too light to be stable on UK lines and look just like that. BTW - I maintain them for a living and have since they were delivered to the UK. Things I've noticed are: the bogie numbering is correct but theres only one door open on the c/disabled car. Do a spad and see what the TPWS woman says! The test button you pressed just tests the lights and alarms in the cab. The CCTV is wrong as the 10x numbers don't have a first class, passenger tables or a bistro.

I added that as one of those last-minute things as I was sat down trying to figure out what was missing from the experience as you faff about between stations. Also worthy of noting, if you are running a service that runs into short platforms, you need to run the plugin to have proper ASDO communications to the train to tell it to not open doors. Excellent review Tom. Pretty well balanced. I think if the price was lower, a lot of people would be singing the praises of this unit. Apart from the few very minor things you highlighted, it looks very good, does a lot of things and it sound relatively nice. I do understand the pricing, when you consider it took 3 years for them to make it, but I wonder if it's just too much for the TS community. Everyone says they want realism, but judging by the comments, I don't think most people are prepared to pay for it. There has to be a balance and I feel they went a bit too far on the scripting here, which is clearly what pushed the price so high (along with other internal issues).

    £38 for a train that only really used on two routes is beyond the pale. The train fine, the sounds are meh and there's a couple of noticeable issues that could easily be fixed however even if all the issues are addressed the price is still a non starter. Ive brought expensive content from 3DZUG that was around 30 euros and there content is better value for money than this heck even MSFS DLC is way better value than this. Regardless of the work that's gone into at the end of the day it's a massive ask for paying £38 for one train that realistically can only be used on two routes. ATS would have been better off lowering the price to £20/£25.
