Hi Gert. This is a wonderful performance. Please keep uploading new ones, I'd like to hear some more of this kind of thing :)
Class again from the young man.......Bravo.
Please keep sending us your wonderful organ music Gert.
Masterful!
The tap is turned on ... and the music pours out. Easy!
+Offshoreorganbuilder one can preselect stops with these switches, with a preset button a change of stops is immediately realized
+eskatee Well, yes, I think most people would realise that. The puzzle is why there seems to be only one switch for each stop, and that one switch seems to have only one of two options - ON or OFF. Do the switches select for just one of the several pistons (i.e. buttons) which the organ has? Or do they do something else?
It seems a strange arrangement.
+Offshoreorganbuilder switching a different button one can activate the preset at this organ this is presumably one of the buttons arranged under the keys of the keyboard.
eskatee But why only one button? And which one? It's a system I have never seen before - that you can set just one of the pistons from the console. The settings on the other pistons are, presumably, adjustable, but evidently not from the console.
Dutch organs (and I don't mean the historical ones) seem to be very poorly-equipped with playing aids. It doesn't seem to be something which Dutch organists want. Rather like the stops, positioned over the player's head, which seems to be quite common in the Netherlands and which seem remarkably awkward to players in other countries.
+Offshoreorganbuilder The builders in the Netherlands are experienced since ages, the result is music, there are no complaints, it needs some healthyl exercise; nevertheless, to cope with an instrument; one can observe the engine room when stop pullers are adding to the result. Just some extra human activity is needed. It is like comparing an old hot bulb tractor, very well built, to a completely technically up-to-date modern tractor. It works in a different way, but it works.
Happy Christmas Gert, may you and your family have a blessed Christmas and a happy and successful musical New Year.
Thank you Gert for your great music that I can listen to here in the U.S. Through You-tube.
Enjoyed this special duo!!!!
Fabulous concert - great improvisation, Gert. Thank-you.
mooie improvisatie!
met viool erbij klinkt het fantastisch!
I was wondering how you were going to mold Cora's strings into your improv on the keyboard, but you backed her up nicely when she took the melody....it worked out well.
Love it, Awesome!
Very nice!
...Hearing Gert talk makes me want to learn Dutch. Love the music.
Prachtig!!!
full of public, what a wonderful thing. :)
4.1 k veiws already, congratulations.

Mooi, geplaatst op de 245e verjaardag van Beethoven. Knap!
Fantastisch! Een waar meesterwerk!
Heel Mooi Gert Golden
What did you say in the first few moments that was so funny? Curious, curious...
Heel erg mooi!!!
Prachtig
+Rob Buitenkamp dat was nu mijn cadeautje !
Prachtig Jaap
Ook mooi in beeld gebracht!!!!
wow I could imagine those organ pipes jumping up and down in musical harmony with your fingers and feet Gert.. and feeling very merry, but not sure about the violin which seems to say to the pipes hey! stop ya dancing! this is a serious piece of music, and so to me, it spoiled your lovely improvisation, am sorry man, but to me it did :( But having said that I didnt mean that the violinist was bad onthe contrary she was an excellent violinist and so kind of you Gert to have her playing with you :)
cool
Great video!! What do the little switches above the stop tabs do?
+Reagan Reese Ah! So you *do* know about Gert!
As for the switches ... I don't know. Most of them are down, and there is one, only, for each stop. They appear to have only one of two positions - ON or OFF. The Swell has no pistons at all. I am as mystified as you!
+Offshoreorganbuilder I've know about him for a while. Way before his England trip. :) Im 16 so seeing his success just gives me the motivation to play like him! He's got to be one of the best, sure he can't play a mighty Wulritzer like some peeps, but he can play EVERYTHING. Literally, he's going to run out of new music to play!! :D
+Reagan Reese Well, let me have a try to explain it in English: These "switches" are some kind of preset which makes it possible to change the registration quickly (by pressing only one button) while playing.
Reagan Reese Interesting reply. Thanks.
As a point of information, the 'mighty Wurlitzer' (or 'Wurzler' as I once heard some buffoon pronounce it) is usually a good deal smaller in numbers of pipes than a classical organ, so maybe it's not quite so 'mighty' as you might think! Mind you, I say nothing against the players of such machines, many of which are highly talented, but I expect that, some day, we will see Gert on board a Wurzler ...
Keep up the practice (or 'training' as it should really be called.) Use it or lose it!
+Reagan Reese I believe those tabs above the stop rail are couplers that allow one manual to be played from another. The pistons below the great manual appear to be the presets.
Well, that was different. I don't think Beethoven would mind. I certainly don't.
Does "Viool" means viola in English?
+Prairiezager Okay, my bad, the low strings on her violin sound really deep, that's why I thought it was a viola.
