Oh there's a commenting competition ? - Well here I am then !!!!, As for the M2 Comp, was so torn between getting one and the Cayman S I got (September) but decided to go for the Porsche to experience it. In 2-3 years will be looking to see how good the new M3 will be.....

Not sure how you clean your alcantara wheel but unscented baby wipes are great for rejuvenating these.

I went for the manual in my m140 Joe and I love it. An M2 is definitely on my list as an upgrade in a couple of years. These random videos are always your best mate👍
Regarding UK roads, our B roads are maintained by local councils on a shoestring, overseen by questionably qualified engineers on a shoestring salary. Look at the average country road in the Netherlands or Germany. You'll see how much better their roads are constructed and more importantly, drained on the shoulders (none of that ponding that we see).
Yeah that makes sense, crazy when our council and road tax amounts to so much....
yes thats right. i live in surrey and the some roads look like they get IED's exploded over them on a daily basis...
its great to see our taxes wiseley spent on decent quality road maintenance

As you said, Audi TT, Alpine A110... probably are good cars. For BMW fanboys, like most of us on this channel, they do not compare to an M2 Competition, that's for sure.

It's funny, as I started my search with a 120d coupe, and ended up with an M235i. Your videos inspired me to go all out, and get something really special! 👍

Another great vid Joe! Thanks for the call out re the Australian bushfires. I’m in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney and its pretty bad here. So far around 5 million hectares have been burnt across Australia, and 9 people killed. More scorching weather coming. Not great!

Jo thanks to reviews by you I am keen to buy an M240i, but there are references on Forum's to issues with oil filters falling apart while being removed from the oil filter housing during dealer or owner oil & filter changes. This results in having to have the filter housings replaced with a garage book time of 5 hours. OK is under warranty or BMW dealer service department having an issue when I assume you could argue the problem occurred while their technician was working on the car. Forums refer similar oil filter issues with other B58 engines in other models. Have you heard of such issues?

Absolutely looks awesome and fell in love when I had the pleasure of taking it for a decent drive. Really jealous now that I’m looking at getting one for my self! Joe, i had my steeringwheel done by royalsteeringwheels not so long ago, after watching your original video on the topic. I used there exchance service since i’m located in belgium. Really happy with it. I keep a little brush in the car, to brush the alcantara. Curious to see how it will age. Maybe my old original steering wheel ended up in your car...😀 i drive a 2018 M2lci. Recently bought a pair of
M4 competition seats for it. Getting upholstered this week to match the rest of the interior. Alcantara on the inside like the M3/M4 CS. 😉 Love the seats, they sit so much better. Can’t wait to pick her up on friday...

jb001 jb001 you should get a carbon m2 CS spoiler for your car 👍🏽 I got mine from auto Id for my m240i. I also got carbon M wing mirrors from there too 😜

Great looking car. Still not a fan of the interior on the m2 it's a bit too plasticy. Not sure if extended leather option is available on them but it needs it.

Love the M2 Competition Joe. I'm going to have to drive to work 60 mile round trip so looking to lease a Fiesta or similar. Our M140i will be replaced with either an M2 Comp or a 991 911 C2S. Great video sir

The Remus sounds awesome. I have an Akropovic on my 1M and makes the sound of the car match the rest of the driving experience. Single best mod in my opinion. 👍🏻

Ryan Davis you’ll be looking at a second hand M140 as they don’t make them anymore. Few low millage ones still around tho :)
Good video Joe. All you say makes sense to me. I prefer the old school dials in my M-lite to the new full digital version and don’t see anything wrong with the older cabin design either. Looks smart and functional to me. The newer ones are just bling-ier. Prefer the design of the F series cars too, personally, even if the are looking a bit dated. Not a fan of the new big grilles and fake vents etc on the latest models if I’m honest. Good point 4 vs 2 seats. I had a Cayman for a while and it is a pain having to take two cars where one would do. Also, the Porsche is more ‘visible’ and expensive, so personally I found that limiting too. There’s places I would park a M-lite that I wouldn’t park a Cayman. You really feel the rear weight balance in the Cayman too in my experience and the front has a slight bobbing motion, especially if the tank id near empty. It can catch you out. It certainly did me on a couple of occasions, not good on public roads. It’s why I sold mine and literally paid the price. In comparison, non of my BMs have every given me such a scare and that includes going flat out on the German autobahn in a M235i. I intend to keep my current 2 and a half year old M240i indefinitely. In fact, I often wish I hadn’t changed my M235i for the Cayman. I love these, but that’s just my opinion, before anyone has a go.

So Joe, how are you finding the manual box now? How does it compare to the manual in the M140?I know you didn't think much of the box in the old M135.
Mate I absolutely love the manual, the one genuine negative is the short 6th gear,even at 70mph it's revving high and uses so much fuel from it's small tank... The box is miles better than the one in my 2015 M135, but I've heard it's the same one that's actually in M140/240's...

Thanks man! Stock for stock both cars have their pros and cons... I've not driven a OG M2 for a while actually so hard to judge, maybe that should be a video 🤔👌

Love the stance. The car looks and sounds great. I am on the fence about getting a 2020 M2 or just waiting for the new and hopefully AWD M4. The new M2 has similar performance as the current base M4 and that is why I am on the fence. I use to have a 2017 M3 Competition package that I absolutely loved and I had to get rid of it to cut back on some financials for a job change. I guess my question is, will I be totally disappointed with a 2020 M2? I just don't want to feel let down....

PS. Mate, you'll understand better than most, manuals are wonderful but not when you have to sit in 8 miles of crawling Manchester traffic every day. ZF for me next. Cheers Joe

Great video Joe, love the car...considering F87 M2 Competition and F80 M3 Competition package. Drove both cars with DCT and enjoyed both, now confused more than ever...lol Have you considered F80 M3? If yes, why did you end up with this awesome M2 Comp beast?
Hi Joe, I've just purchased a 435d convertible and it's very heavy on fuel. Do you know if the coolant temperature should stay a steady number like 90c when warm?
Yeah 90 sounds about right... The 35d twin turbo unit really isn't that efficient (I'm actually swapping my 740d for a 730d next week due to efficiency), also the Cabs are very heavy....

Nice vid! What kind of rpm are you at at 70mph in 6th? My M140i always felt like jt was revving too high in 6th, to the point where I wish I got an auto!
Cheers man! Yeah that's one Def negative about getting a manual 140/240/M2 etc, 6th is too short, especially on the continent sitting at 85-90 ish... Think your 140 and my M2 are geared identically, 6th is around 2600 rpm at 70mph which is too high... Be greatful the brilliant B58 is more frugal than the alcoholic S55 🤦🏼
Oh really!? I was hoping to daily one of these but the ~300mile m140i range was annoying me. What kind of range/mpg do these get? I used to eek out 35+ doing motorway miles.
