I had a filming pass so I thought I’d make the most of it by filming the whole entire building for you guys, showing you the different clothing stores!! (Actually, I forgot to film the bottom 2 floors because I was SO tired by the time I got to the final floor haha T____T)
I love shopping in Japan and Shibuya is one of my favourite places to shop!

It's so interesting how Japanese shops have one "theme" like cute/girly or edgy or chic while places like Australia have a mix of styles in one store.
***** hehe yeah, most of these brands have a certain theme they stick to!
***** Honestly it's sad to see all these brands in Shibuya 109. The majority of these shops aren't even GAL brands. Just normal everyday brands that you can easily find outside of Japan. The only shops that were once proudly GAL from the 90's- 2013 have all been washed down with basic clothing items, mature American girl style, & or fairy-kei fashion. During your walk through of the mall there wasn't even one GAL their not even the ones working in the mall minus baby shoop.
Miyu Yoshida There are still gals around. I just purposely made my shots so I can have as little people in them as possible for their own privacy reasons :) However I do agree that a lot of the brands in Shibuya109 have changed, but I wouldn't say they have changed to normal everyday brands.
***** what does it mean that shibuya brands have changed? They're more westernized or something? It doesn't have that uniqueness that was sought out by both Japanese and foreigners? Sharla did a videonof shibuya 109,it doesn't have those stores anymore or its just a different area? I hope it doesn't change much because I've yet to go to Japan and enjoy it...
mikah ong Yes, I would say they are more westernized now. I still think they are still unique and different, but not as "out there" as it used to be. The stores in Shibuya109 have changed over the years, a lot of stores closed down and new ones reopened. To be honest from the first time I went to Japan (2011) to this year, the fashion has already changed a lot

This is a stupid question! But do the shops in shibuya 109 have women's fitting rooms? All the shops look so tiny I can't imagine where they'd put them... silly question I know lol

Madison Dienhart Yeah, pretty much all of them should. But you're not allowed to try on some items though, like blouses because they don't want you to get makeup on the clothing.

Soo cute!! I wish we had more cute stores like these in Canada! I'm very petite so I always have issues finding clothes that fit me well but when I visited japan and Hong Kong sizes are soo much easier to find! Going back in November/December and watching these videos gets me so excited!

are these high end designer stores? some of the prices i saw were quite expensive which is scaring me lol! i converted 1 dress to about £150
Tootsie Time average price would be $50-$60. This is autumn winter time so the price goes up a little bit comparing to the summer season. Shibuya 109 isnt high end designer stores at all, but for teenage girls and 20s girls.

*****, do Japanese shops/boutiques like these have a certain etiquette in regards to handling items? For instance, do you point to or hand each item you wish to purchase to a person working in the shop or are you free to hold whatever you wish to buy (in your hands or a shopping basket) until you set it down at the register? Just curious, traveling to Tokyo this October and don't want to make anyone think I'm stealing! haha

Maevamilk haha yeah you're usually not allowed to film. But I had a pass that let me film because I was filming a project in the building, so decided to make the most of it and film the high quality tour too!

I do have one suggestion though - I think the videos would be more enjoyable if you could speak about the shops and maybe show where they are in the centre as well instead of seeing clips of them with just music! I really like them, but I come to your channel to see you more than any of the shops and clothes!
LisaJoan I wanted to do that but there were just too many that I would have to speak too fast to talk about the stores. The shopping centre is literally just a circle of clothing stores so the shops I showed will be found very easily in there

aznlovesbbtea There is a Shibuya109 Mens which is opposite Shibuya station, though to be honest I don't like Japanese fashion for mens, it looks too host boy style which I don't like lol. When my boyfriend goes to Japan he likes shopping at Uniqlo, and there is a floor of men's clothing in Mio which is in Tennoji, Osaka which is not too bad either

Kimmipi B. There are more places that offer free wifi now, but not in 'most places' in Tokyo. Shibuya109 has free wifi but you need to ask the counter for the password. Starbucks/McDonalds you need wifi already to actually set up an account so it is very hard to set one up (if you don't already have wifi). Some of the Tokyo Metro train stations have free wifi, but not many of them. Wifi is still very hard to find in Japan so whenever I go, I get a pocket wifi device.

I noticed a lot of English text throughout the stores; is it very common to use simple English phrases in Japan? I guess it's a bit different when you come from an English-speaking country, you don't realize how much it's used everywhere else!
MyLittleRarity Yeah, it's very common to have English text throughout stores. Tokyo is more tourist friendly too. Unfortunately using English is another story, a lot of the time you will find that Japanese people can't speak much English :(

My favourite shop in Shibuya 109 wasn't in this video - it's called Sango :3 the clothes were all really cute and good prices too (at least from a British perspective) and the staff were so nice in there, they made me feel really welcome. ^_^ Also the clothes actually fit me - there are so many beautiful clothes in all these shops but most of them don't fit me, so I was really glad to find somewhere where everything I tried on fit (I'm 98-74-97cm, so not that big by western sizes but a lot of Japanese clothes don't quite go to my size
Lena Y A lot of stores close in Shibuya109 so it's possible that the store might not be there anymore. I didn't film the 2 bottom floors since I forgot (was exhausted from working that day) so yeah if it's in the bottom 2 floors then I would've missed it haha

When I went to Japan, I really wanted to get cute j-fashion. It was probably my main goal ehehe :3. But when my mom and I went to Shibuya 109, or Takeshita Street, she dragged me through them without giving me a chance to look. She doesn't like j-fashion at all, and I was heartbroken. Is there possibly a way I can get j-fashion without waiting until I go on my own?

Yeah it's mostly clothes. I usually buy makeup at drugstores or at a donkihote
