Guess that is the big reason people think anime watchers are weird because all the "normal" people would never say they watch it. People also need to understand that some anime watchers like me don't watch anime because I think they should win Oscars, but simply because it is incredibly soothing, and the soothing parts ARE the bad parts.

      Women's 100m, Women's 200m, Women's 400m, & Men's 200m in my opinion are where it's at in sprinting right now. The men's 100m & men's 400m aren't that hype right now. Sure for the Women's 200m it's mostly only Shericka that's super exciting, but for me that's enough, because the Women's 200m WR is from before I was born, so I've never got to see a Women's 200m WR, I would love to see Jackson clock that 21.33!

    In my opinion a more accurate way to rank sprinters in terms of 100, 200, 400 or 100, 200, 300 is to set different "weights" for amount of times per event. Being 0.1 seconds faster than someone in the 100m is the same caliber difference (or same percentage of time compared to distance) as being 0.2 seconds ahead of them in the 200m, or 0.4 seconds in the 400m (& 0.3 seconds in the 300m). So instead of 100m time + 200m time + 400 time, it would be more accurate to do (100m time * 4) + (200m time * 2) + (400m time), or (100m time * 3) + (200m time * 1.5) + 300m time.
    Using the above calculation the 100, 200, 400 order would look like this (lower number is better):
    - Usain Bolt: 121.98
    - Michael Johnson: 122.18
    - Fred Kerley: 122.20
    - Michael Norman: 122.29
    - Wayde Van Niekerk: 122.47
    - Letsile Tebogo: 122.81
    This makes sense because Usain Bolt is 0.51 seconds ahead of MJ in the 100m, which is the same caliber difference of 2.04 seconds of difference in the 400m, so Bolt's "lack of a great" 400m & MJs lack of a great 100m pretty much cancel each other out, & then Bolt comes out on top in the 200m. So despite Bolt not really competing in the 400m I would say he's statistically still #1 overall across the 3 sprints if the events are weighted "properly" (just adding the 4 times makes the 400m weighted pretty much 4 times as much as the 100m, which doesn't make sense imo).

    • @richardgallimore5976
      @richardgallimore5976 Před měsícem +9

      Using the above calculations the 100, 200, 300 order would look like this (lower number is better):
      - Usain Bolt: 88.50
      - Letsile Tebogo: 89.58
      - Michael Johnson: 90.10
      - Wayde Van Niekerk: 90.39
      In my opinion this more accurately shows Bolt's caliber as it's more specific to the events he accels at. It doesn't show 200/400 runners caliber as well though, I think a 200, 300, 400 chart would be the most accurate to compare MJ & Van Niekerk for example. Noah Lyles would also do very well here, he would not do well with the 100, 200, 400 comparison as his 400m PB is low 47. For sure Lyles could beat a low 47, but he's not as good as Tebogo in the 400m, so a 100, 200, 300 is a better comparison between Tebogo & Lyles for the events that they accel at. Lyles would score 90.33 on this chart putting him just ahead of Van Niekerk. If Noah ran say a 31.10 outdoor 300m which sounds accurate to me (he doesn't have Tebogo speed endurance in the 400m, but he has a bit more speed endurance than Bolt, however he doesn't have Bolt's speed) he'd get down to 89.66 putting him pretty much on par with Tebogo which sounds accurate to me. There 100s are 0.05 apart, Noah is a decent amount ahead (0.19), & Tebogo would be quite a bit ahead in the 300m (0.51 or so).

    • @richardgallimore5976
      @richardgallimore5976 Před měsícem +11

      Just to add on, another way to compare that already exists & has the caliber of each performance already rated is using an IAAF scoring calculator & then adding up the points of each performance. MJs 100, 200, & 400m would add up to 3813 while Usain Bolt's 100, 200, 400m would add up to 3865. So with each event weighted equally instead of just adding up the total seconds, Usain Bolt's overall 100, 200, 400 combination is considered superior to MJs.

    This year? Lyles gold, Tebogo silver in the Olympic final. Tebogo will certainly challenge and I can see him possibly beating Lyles in other races or possibly running a faster SB than Lyles this year. I just think Lyles will bring his absolute best for the race that matters most, like he did during the 2022 WCs. I can see times anywhere between 19.2-19.4 in the final, maybe even from both of them if Tebogo saves his best for the final. Next year though, if Tebogo keeps improving like he has this year, he's going to challenge the WR. No question.

  • @DefenseMight
    @DefenseMight Před měsícem +1

    As much as the sprint times are impressive, the difference lies in the number of races. A meet with a single event whereas worlds with multiple rounds is not the same. For example, in 2019, Noah Lyle’s best 200m timing was 19.50 set in 5th July, a one off race. But when it came to the world finals, his timing was 19.86 which was in September, 2019. While this video certainly highlights Tebogo’s potential and he may run faster at the olympics but inferencing his timings in one off race events compared to worlds is unjust for the other athletes

    I think it is interesting to consider does training on your start at the 60 and the 100 help more with your 200 than working on your endurance with the 300 and 400? I think the epic race where Tobogo ran the 19.5 finishing 2nd to Lyles shows that competitive stamina matters. If that race was 210 meters he would've won. Maybe Tobogo can start his finish earlier than he thought.
    At the same time maybe Lyles can have a bigger lead from the start and force other to run a race other than their own plan because they see too big of a gap. It is all very interesting.
