Thank you Tony. Would be interesting to know how the jointing of that sett paving are performing six years on

Very much so! I was planning to re-visit the market square this winter to do a 'follow-up' piece, now that it's coming into its 8th winter. Might get there before xmas, but if not, then some time in the New Year for sure.

Tony I have fired an email at Hitchin Markets Ltd, requesting feedback and possibly photos. If I receive anything will share with you

great vid i did this several years ago and used roofing tar/pitch, is this the same thing as you use or is there a special type of tar,

    • @TonyMcCormack

Roofing pitch is not as robust as sett jointing pitch. It melts more easily and doesn't have the same fillers that give good abrasion resistance. On small residential projects ir doesn't really matter but on commercial or highway projects having the right pitch is essential.

Tony your videos and website are a gold mine of great information, thank you! Can I ask would you recommend this jointing or sand cement type for a small domestic area, 7 rows of 3m in length between my gate posts? Thanks 🇮🇪

7 courses - about 800mm or so in width??? And just 3m in length? That's only 2½m² or so, and would take a single bucket of the 850, if you did a bit of judicious partial pre-filling with a gravel. The use of 850 would be quick and clean and give excellent results, but I can;t pretend it's the cheaper option. A sand/cement mortar would take longer however you use it, as a slurry or for hand pointing, and then there's the cleaning, but the plus side is that it costs very little. Only you can decide what suits your skill level and your budget.

Tony that’s great, thanks. Wasn’t expecting such a quick reply! Yeh around 800mm, I just need to find a supplier in Dublin now. Any recommendations on that?

@@Garry_G I'm not sure who handles distribution in Ireland. Try emailing NCC - sales@nccinaction.co.uk

Looks like a great product, but am wondering why the PDF specsheet I read did NOT recommend it for flags and slabs?

You would think the Resin would Emulsify when mixed with pre water , looks like it !!!

It probably does, but the foaming agent (glorifed soap) makes it into a wonderfully fluid material that flows with ease across these old setts, as though they were new paving laid last week!
