      No drainage keeps me sane growing the amount of plants I have 🫠

    The Fall here in SF is usually foggy, and cold. Luckily, it is warm and hot now, but it won’t last. Glad most of the plants are doing well! 😊 Yes, it would be nice to get advice on anthuriums seedlings, and get some tips from you!

    99% of my anthuriums are in non-drainage vessel. Some of them are in pons and some of them are in tree fern fibre (70%) with perlite (30%) with leca at the bottom. They are happy in my cabinet.

      Anthuriums grow really well with no drainage! Glad you're loving it too 😄

    That forgetii is adorable! I grow everything in ambient room conditions, so I've been reluctant to get into anthuriums, but this is really tempting me to try a couple of easier ones

      Go for it! I think it will do ok in an ambient condition too.

    Thanks for the update on the queen with no drainage. I was curious about that. It looks like it’s doing just fine. 😊
    Luv your videos.

    Really enjoyed your video. I have some of my alocasia in self watering pots and some of my Hoyas are in self watering pots. It takes some getting use to knowing when to add more water. Good seeing you again.

      Self-wateeing pots are great especially with water gauge! They work really well with philodendrons too 🥳

    I had the same experience with the Felix! I was really bummed both because I think it's cool looking and also because it was pricey😔 After hearing similar stories I'm not sure I would try importing it again, maybe if I can get an established one locally

      It's very sad because I love the leaf shape too! But I've heard multiple people tell me it does not acclimate well. I only know 1 person who grew it well...

    Oh Jing its all good! Your plants are amazing! I love cozy sweatshirts too because I'm usually cold 😥 I have my hoyas in pon with a bit of leca on bottom .. I am trying to just give a small amount of water once a week.. I have been a terrible overwaterer.. I love my glass vessels from dollarama.. but I need advice on how or what to do with my crystallinum.. It's got so many growth points from the main stem and I don't have a clue on if I just leave it or do they need to be removed and repotted.. What I did do was add a pot extender(actually its the cone from when my kitten got fixed 😅) and I added some moss.. it's growing but now the roots are growing out the bottom.. I bought a blue oil fern that has some blue as well but I don't know if it needs more light or less for the blue to be pronounced.. I have several of those mosaic pots from homesense.. My crystal is in one but its square. My orchids are in the round

      If the anthurium is growing offshoot, I usually wait for some roots to develop and then separate them during a repot. There's no harm in keeping them intact, but you'd need a bigger pot for sure!

    I think your no drainage looks beautiful. I have tried it but I am a classic over waterer 🤣 I'm going to try again one day. I would love to know when you do water it, how much water do you put in and do you allow it to totally dry out

    • @planthappens
      @planthappens  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Thank you! I usually water them when they're probably 80-90% dry, but I find it to be forgiving when I water them when they're not dry too. Sometimes I just top it up. I usually let water pool at the bottom up to about 20% of the total substrate depth if that makes sense!

      I appreciate your videos. Very calming and honest about your plant experience. ❤
      I haven't done "no drainage in glass" since I've been on the fence with algae growth in the pot, but i have done the "self watering in terracotta and glass"....my gateway planter 😅. It's worked ok so far and doesn’t accumulate much algae. When it does, it's a little easier to clean off, but doesnt give the plant roots as much room to grow.
      I have a veitchi with bigger leaves in a 4 inch plastic pot with good drainage and chunky mix that i water by just running it through the sink once a week. It lives in room humidity and I'm in chicago. It's thriving, and it surprises me what plants are ok with and tolerate.

      I put a lecca layer at the bottom. It helps me see exactly where the water line is so I don't over water 😊

    how to control its tip browning

    • @planthappens
      @planthappens  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Tip browning typically is due to condensation collecting at the tip. Increasing air flow might help!
