  • In today’s world of social media-oriented photography and news, it’s becoming more and more difficult to know what is real and what is fabricated. All images have metadata written to the file, but this can be stripped away or modified. So, it’s important for artists and news outlets to have a way to authenticate an image. The Content Authenticity initiative is an organization of over 300 companies, including Leica Camera, that has accepted this challenge. Now with the release of the Leica M11-P, Leica has introduced the first camera in the world to directly incorporate Content Credentials into a camera, allows creatives around the world to cryptographically sign their name to their photographs as well as encrypt the metadata of their images.
In the next Leica Tech Talk Senior Product Specialist John Kreidler and Product Communication Specialist Nathan Kellum will be joined by photojournalists Cheriss May and David Butow as we break down what the Initiative is and how Content Credentials plays a part in their personal and professional endeavors.
Come prepared for insights and answers to your questions, as we will leave time for a Q&A at the end. The online event is free with registration.

Well...I find this all very interesting...and kudos to Leica for starting the process. But; what does all this help me when we still don't have the software for working on our images that pass on the content credentials to the final jpg? So far most of the software packages are still in the Beta Version. We need some time before this becomes mainstream. In this video it makes us believe everything is already in place...but far from it. I own an M11-P. It is a great tool and does what it says on the tin. But this content credential add-on remains a gimmick until all the major players in the industry come on board and make it possible for all us users (Adobe is working hard on it). I hope this will fall into place...until then it remains a sales pitch to shift Leica cameras. Just like all the so called 'independent' and 'unbiased' reviewers (or call them influencers) are paid for saying all the good things to enable sales. It's marketing...for now. Nothing else.
On the other hand, Leica cameras nearly sell themselves. Quality, made in Germany, durability, fast, small, powerful, internal memory, excellent image quality...etc...
I am a professional user of Leica cameras. I don't need an app to download my images to a mobile device. My images have to go on a computer for editing and ftp upload. The app it a tech solution for those who have time for it...I need to deliver images fast. I don't have time to get the images on my mobile to then move them to my laptop and then work on them.

I know Leica is built incredibly well and is unique, however £8,000….that is just ridiculous.
