Over the past 25 years Audi has built an endurance racing dynasty. But now in 2024 this golden era is coming to an end. Lets follow Scherer Sport PHX as they try to attain one final Nürburgring 24 hours victory for the Audi R8 V10 LMS GT3 against stiff factory competition from Porsche 911 GT3 R, Mercedes AMG GT3, BMW M4 GT3 and privateer entries from Ferrari 296 GT3 and Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo II. - Sport
It’s a shame. Rest in peace R8, you will be missed
When I was younger I never understood the r8 and always looked at the huracan. Now that I just bought my own car, I am understanding the v10 r8 manual and it makes me sad it won’t be there in a few decades when I’d be able to afford a 2nd hand supercar.
15:59 that slide is insane. Incredible how he saved that.
brown trouser moments
Eurobeat moment
That was simply insane. The general public does not yet realize how special this type of racing is.
Thanks to the idiot of race director that robbed us of a finish
Agreed. 100%
Despite the shortened race this still proved that the Audi R8 is a timeless racecar.
The live chat was so toxic, but audi really deserved this. The 16 fought so hard, and the racing we got was fantastic. It might be the shortest, but was also one of the highest quality n24s we've had.
Agree! the racing was insane the time we had racing!!!
I hope Audi Sport will Revive their GT3 Factory Programme again, I am going to miss them
They're pouring all their resources into F1 now, sadly
@@Law0fRevenge I would say more attention than resources, they dont wanna half ask IMSA or GT3
With the RS6 no please,we need a real Supercar like the R8
@@Law0fRevenge😢😢
@@fqeagles21 I mean i actually prefer RS7 myself, but ofcourse they need a new sport car version
That Porsche traction in wet weather is a game changer.
Rear engine ftw
@@GroovedSlicknot any more. Basically as rest as possible while still being mid because the engine is in front of the rear axel. The old ones used to hang over.
@@JohnDoe-gn3rg I think you're thinking of the old 991.2 RSR where they moved the engine forward. the 992 GT3 R is rear engine
www.racecar-engineering.com/articles/gt/porsche-911-gt3r/
@@GroovedSlick huh. Did not know they moved it back. Still the older ones had it WAY in the back. (ik because im pulling the engine out of one for a bug swap)
Best 20 something minutes spent on youtube. As a grello fan and estre fan, i can say that the overtakes that audi pulled were out of a movie. These guys are trully some of the best drivers on the planet. I wouldn't dare to do that in acc lol.
And this race is absolutely nuts. Gt3s with 20+ other classes minutes per lap slower than them battling it out in the middle of the night, also with literal trucks on the track. Just pure insanity. I really can't understand how f1 or nascar are bigger than this.
I agree, so much more exciting than any other form of racing. Not sure why it doesn't have the same presence
Few things demonstrate ability as much as the moves the #16 Audi pulled off in the darkness. Braking that late and going around the outside of those two cars in that corner, it's magic. That's racing for me.
@@GroovedSlickthey need a dts series narrated by you or these videos on official channels. It's super hard to follow the story/drivers if you don't already follow (like me) your channel has been an amazing insight thanks!
Stippler is pushing 50 and is still one of the best around the ring, huge respect for him.
Dan Harper is a got damn beast of a driver.
I'm going to miss the R8 so much man.
Some of the most exciting GT3 racing I've ever seen. Nothing beats the N24!
Shame it only lasted 7 hours in the end i think estre could have taken 1st place but congrats to audi the played well.
played?
Estre was driving well but grello fucked it. Maybe they could have brought it back, but that strategy put them in a terrible position.
@@biscuit715 Yeah, the moment I saw them take slicks while rain was getting worse I knew they'd be fucked. Still no idea why they did that, nobody else took slicks and the were on route to victory so why risk it?
@@Law0fRevengemaybe they were taking queues from Ferraris F1 team
Estre pass from p7 on slicks at fight for the 1st only in 3 laps dudes, for sure in 24h he could beat the R8 , NOT EASY BUT HE CAN
At the incident at 4:40 the Ferrari wasn’t the only defending champion affected, David Pittard in the Aston Martin was one of the drivers in that won last year in that Ferrari. Unfortunately that incident took his Aston out the race. It was pretty funny hearing him call out the Merc during the race broadcast after Adam Cristodoulou was in the same booth a couple hours before.
Yes, I thought that was very funny too! RLM did a great job staying out of it haha!
Was looking forward to your narration of the fight between #72 and #16! Really sad how it ended, I think it would've been amazing 24 hours of this fighting. Thanks for the videos man, amazing job as always!! 27 minutes 51 seconds well spent :)
Glad you enjoyed! Yeah, hopefully they can figure out slow zones for the next time the fog rolls in
9:26 balls of fucking forged carbon with titanium insertions. Kevin estre will be proud to see that.
I'm too scared to even try that on iRacing
A well deserved win by the R8
I see a Grooved Slick breakdown, I click. Love the videos!
Production R8 might be dead but GT3 going strong 💪
16:00 That might be the best save I've ever seen in my lifetime of watching motorsports, and to retain the lead. Unbelievable.
the Audi R8 will always live in our hearts ❤
It's a shame the race was only 7 hours, but it was 7 of the best hours of racing this year. I was glued to the screen for much of it! Can't wait for Le Mans and Spa.
Im so ashamed that the race didn't come to a fair end, but it's the Nurbugring 24 or it isn't, Audi took the advantage of it perfectly, I have to admit. Seeing the start and first hours that was a hell of a race, it was absolutely insane to watch I was thrilled, too bad the weather here is quite a mess LMAO. Great vid mate this is awesome !
Such an underrated channel. You make endurance racing digestible for everyone and I thank you for that. My dad and I look forward to your videos every race.
Really glad to hear that you are enjoying!
Another great video. Dan Harper was the driver of the weekend in my opinion, dude is an absolute beast
Im pretty sure there are other channels on CZcams like this. But im not going to search. This is a perspective that i have never seen. I love your commentary. And the none stop all the way through start to finish race. Very nice don't stop. Please 👍🏿
I always knew that the drivers of the gt3 cars were very good, but after watching this Onboard footage, I realize that they are out of this world !!! Insane driving skills!
Agreed. That overtake at 9:30 was insane! Cannot imagine the adrenaline driving wheel to wheel at this narrow circuit in wet conditions.
"slow supra" had me laughing 😂
Thank you dude, you dont see this on tv.. these guys are fucking crazy
I was able to watch the 7.5 hour race that lasted and it was great, I loved watching the battles for victory.
I would have liked the race control to wait until the last moment for the weather conditions to improve because there would surely have been at least an hour left for a good finish. 5 minutes after race control decided to end the race early, the weather started to improve, but sometimes these things happen and we are all human after all, mistakes happen. The fog lasted longer than in 2021.
Anyway, I hope it doesn't affect the next editions too much and we continue enjoying this great race
Thanks for the video ❤
totally agree, hopefully they learn from this for future races but still amazing nonetheless
Dankeschön for this video! I've been looking for a celebration of the intense racing action we got before people drowned it in a sea of complaints.
I wish we have multiple Nur24H in a year just to see your recaps. Love it! Can’t wait for the next one! 🇨🇷
I wish too! haha
Love your videos, really makes GT racing accessible to newcomers like me. Bring on Le Mans!
Amazing commentating and great edit. Thank you!
Keep it up man! Always entertaining to watch these. Thank you!
So far, the best coverage of this year's race I've seen. All that remains is to wait for the official live reupload. Excellent work! 😊
Thank you for making these videos! Its IMO the best way to show highlights of the race. very well done!
Absolutely amazing racing and as always, your synopsis is bang on !!
Thanks. What a bloody drive by everyone. Battle between the bmw and audi was spectacular
great videos...keep it up man!
Thanks for this cool video. I watched the race at home but actually seeing the epic battles between the Audi and its competitors like this was mega! Thanks again and congrats to Audi. I’m going to miss seeing and hearing this Audi on track!
thank you for reminding everybody how amazing the first 7.5 hours were, hate to end it like this but loved it while it lasted and they did let me sleep so I don't mind
Amazing coverage off the race! I will definetly follow you.
Thanks for the content ❤
Really enjoyed this! DON'T STOP! KEEP MAKING THE VIDEOS!
I got a lot of goosebumps watching this video, your content is amazing, thank you!
Always happy to see your videos.
I love these videos so much. I love the insights in race craft. It's hard to really understand all the nuiances and complexities going on during the live race, especially switching between all the cars and classes. The stories your videos tell already make this channel one of my favorites!!!
really glad you're enjoying!
Thanks for the video, I’d never know how close the battle was without watching
As allways, such a nailbiter! Great naration.
Amazing video once again. We could have had the best race in history, but the race director didn't care about racing. After the 5th lap under the safety car, the weather was good to race. He sad didn't trust the weather team. What a shame. At least Audi will retire the R8 LMS with a win. See you in Lemans.
Narration is top tier! Amazing work and entertaining as always.
Great edit and narration, well done👍
The video I was waiting the most ❤
We are back with some complications but the race got trough amazing vid by grooved slick again i wish it had been 24 hours tho
Have been looking forward to this N24 video from you, great breakdown as always!
Glad you enjoyed it, and huge thanks for becoming a member!
A little correction to the comment about pitstop times.
It's actually not necessarily about the fuel pumps but because there is a minimum pitstop time for every lap you have driven in the stint. That's the main reason why pitstops at the 24h NBR usually take about 5min.
This has been done to increase fairness for lower classes that might mix center lock and 5 lug wheel locking systems but also improve safety in the busy pitlane.
Still huge love to your videos, always a big enjoyment for the late nights!
thanks for the slight correction, glad you're enjoying!
Shame race ended so soon, the start was crazy with the RMG BMW fighting it's way up and the weather situation. Great vid and commentary ❤
YEEEES I was waiting for that video soooo bad! ❤
I´m a big fan of the way you are commentating the Race and sum up those GT3 battles. Because i was watching the race live from the track at Wippermann and its not always easy to follow, but you made possible. Great work keep up this type of Videos because they are so unique.
Glad you enjoyed! Its a dream of mine to camp at the Nürburgring one year
It's crazy how they drive in such darkness
I was able to watch the night fights the Harper, Mies, and Guven were doing sometime before the race-ending red flag. It's a shame the weather ended up the way it did, I would've loved to see more of that kind of racing.
that was incredible to watch
I do love that ‘Gaggle’ has become the collective name for a group of race cars.
The man just dropped another banger 🔥
20:25 still can't wrap my head around that overtake by mies. absolutely bonkers.
he was already in the gap before it opened 🤯
I would love to see you do older GT race commentaries. Like same narration style as this but like doing races such as the 2009 GT2 Porsche vs corvette at laguna battle! I think people would like this
not sure when I'll get it out but I have been working on a "historic" onboard video 🤙
wow the battles were insane
Gotta say I'm impressed with your pronunciations, most of them were pretty spot on.
Also, that double overtake against Harper and Maini is freaking amazing
Haha I'm always scared people will hate it but I'm glad you thought they were okay! Yeah that was seriously incredible
very enjoyable commentary
Dude 22:45 is insane!! Was shaping up to be an amazing race. So unfortunate for the way things finished.
This was really fun to watch, and your commentary's great too, really tells the story well and with the excitement the action on track merits. I'm not big into sportscar and endurance racing as I'm a single seater guy first and foremost (I do like the cars though, particularly prototypes), but I do appreciate the discipline. It's quite mad that the cars are still able to go at pretty much racing speed past recovery vehicles though, I imagine there's a lot of trust placed there between everyone! And some serious cojones on the drivers to carry on flat out in the fog, especially at night! Not to mention some of the moves and saves!
I must admit, I was hoping that the footage came across the #150 Bilstein BMW (Jimmy Broadbent and co.) at some point, but sadly it didn't seem to. It's a shame the race ended as it did, but a nice way for Audi to send off their GT3 racing programs (are they stopping full-stop or are customers still going to be able to use the cars?)
customers can still race the car but Audi wont provide any drivers or monetary support. Scherer already had all of the resources from previous years so it made sense for them to continue but slowly we will see the all pro teams move to other manufacturers
Audi fan since forever. Tom K being my idol its sad seeing Audi gone. Best end possible for the program
Mr. Le Mans and Alan McNish were my childhood haha
Around 22:35, that's some good reflexes, pushing while avoiding the flashing recovery trucks .. at night in the green hell !
what I find interesting is that the audi didnt lift for the recovery trucks at 22:35 like you pointed out, which he was able to use to get a great run around them on the bmw, but then at 26:11 he braked for them, on a straight, for almost no reason... cheeky move on his part, only noticed it when watching this. Well done but you would think caution would be excexcised whenever ems vehcicles are on track, regardless of if it is beneifical to the driver. Great driving from the audi overall tho
@@WelcomeToAir I completely agree ! I know it's part of the race, but a safety car following the trucks would be safer. Especially at night, with GT4 drivers, a lot of trust is placed on them, but you never know what could happen.
Hopefully a crash wouldn't be that bad, the cars are safe enough I think, but yeah, you can the difference between the turns and straight. They didn't necessarily know where the trucks were. Massive courage, boldness and reflexes
I didn't think about that but so true thats some 1000 IQ race craft right there
@@GroovedSlick if anything I’m not sure how “of the rules” that is, since you’re encouraged to be cautious around the safety vehicles. But it certainly paid off in the Audis favor lol
Babe wake up a new Grooved Slick video dropped ‼
ure the man!
BABE, WAKE UP! GROOVED SLICK JUST UPLOADED! 🎉
R8!!!!!!!!!
Good one
That's Very good God narrative 💪🙂 amazing racing!
Nice video horrible start good comeback as a grello fan i think Audi was lucky to win thanks to the fog as they where all pushing for it could have been an amazing epic race..
would've been an epic battle with grello for sure if the race had continued
Dan Harper is one of the most entertaining to watch in racing these days
he's amazing and certainly will be winning this race in the future BMW Junior no longer
Do you have a license to upload these ombaords?
13:53 is a war crime
Hey, I just wanna point out how clean the position is integrated into the graphics package. Love to see these small details.
Glad you liked that!
May the algorithm bless you sir
🙏 😅
3:56 walking a line
What was the cause of fog? Why was it mainly seen on the gp circuit?
Title kinda sorta very misleading, given the fact that Scherer is a fully private team who carried on using the R8 after Audi itself pulled out. Title suggests you credit that win to Audi as a brand, this seems misplaced imo.
Babe wake up new Grooved Slick video just dropped
im so mad i couldnt watch the race chz it was banned in canada :(
This Nurburgring race was probably this best one I've seen but it was unfortunate that It only lasted 8 hours with a 14 hour red flag
What does the Biping noise mean ?
The Nurburgring Race Officials and Fog won that race.
Do you think Frikadelli could've bagged a P5/P6 with a complete race?
definitely, they weren't as fast as last year but ran in the 5-10 spot all day and just ended up finishing a bit behind because they tried a cheeky pit stop after the red flag, which would have given them the win if the race had gone until the clock ran out.
@@GroovedSlick well not a win but maybe P4/P5
too few moments from the grello porsche
didn't know you spoke german
haha nur ein bisschen :)
6 people disliked this video wtf??
Porsche #911 would have won. Like if you agree.
#KevinEstre
Ehm. Nürburgring is different from everything. Saying which team had won over full time, is complete impossible. Manthey did a lot of strategy things wrong on that saturday. Kevin Estre is overhyped by far. Everybody thinks, he is the goat for doing special things in the first hour of 24h race. But he crashed a lot in the past, overdrives the 963 hypercar. Vanthoor is faster as Estre overall, but Estre is more agressive. Vanthoor helds the record in an 911 GT3 at the 24h and is faster in the 963, too.
True. Who do you think would have won?
P.S.(Estre’s many crashes were often due to other cars, although to be fair, he did crash a lot by himself.
50 laps doesn't count as a 24h win !!! Change my mind
2021 it was 59 laps. But because Manthey won, everyone was fine with it...
this guy’s hacking what the hell
