- We take a deep dive on LSU vs USC woman's basketball game. This game lived up to the hype and the questions going into the game where answered. The main conclusion is USC is Damn good and LSU has to get to work.

South Carolina is mentally tough. Go into a situation like that and come from behind to win is incredible.
They struggled against a team with no bench in a game that they trailed for most of it. Yup they really did something 😅😅😅 Congrats

Trust me it wasn't difficult to do against a team with all the glaring weakness that LSU has...SC could have spotted them 50 points and would have cone back and won. The players didn't wanna make the team look bad as they are. With LSU's popularity it would have not looked good for SC to smash a team that stood up for the conference last year after SC took a tumble😊

A month or so ago, I said Bree Hall is the most valuable player on that team in the clutch. She's like a rock.
This not the first game where Bree Hall turned up in the last few minutes of the game…….she did it against Stanford on their floor last year

SC still would have won...LSU is a decent team but a weak team that can't defend even mediocre players but lots of those players on both teams are friends you don't want to just step on your girl's neck when you know you can easily beat them that would not have been a good look. LSU should be grateful they didn't just run them out the gym

"Squeezed by" is also a terrible assessment. SC got down by double digits early, made adjustments, then outscored LSU 63-46 over the remaining 30+ to take the win. A swing that big on the road shouldn't be taken lightly.
You know this guy over dramatizes everything but I'm sure he was expecting a complete 50 point blowout 😂. That would have been bad for the growth of the game.

More minutes a lie, more shot opportunities another lie x factor the entire game that's 3 lies. Chloe had 10 of her 14 pts in the 1st qtr.

South Carolina didn't overwhelm LSU except in Q4. Yes I do agree that Reece was a lot better than expected but I thought that Cardozza was kinda underwhelming especially in the paint going towards the basket. As a senior Cardozza lacks moves when driving to the cup. That lack of finesse really killed her scoring production in this game. I thought Cloe Kitts was really good in most of this game. I do agree with you that LSU PG situation is still F-up. When HVL got pressured she made too many errant passes sometimes resulting Reece committing fowls attempting to reach HVL's errant passes into the paint. My takeaways were that South Carolina is clearly the best team in women;s basketball and that's coming from a UCONN fan. Reece was really convincing in this game, she even hit a shot from outside the paint. Cloe KItts was outstanding too. This was best game I've seen from her. Morrow was really good early but tailed of dramatically in the second half. I don't see anyone beating South Carolina this season.
I respect Kim Mulkey because she was a player and is a very good coach. But Guldens does not produce enough mustard to cover her. She is the biggest hot dog and drama queen since Bobby Knight.

Let's be honest. SC came in as the undefeated #1 team in the nation. They averaged 90.8 points per contest and had the #1 offense in field goal percentage at 52.6. They were #1 in point differential at 38.6, and #1 in total rebounds 48.6. Defensively, they were #1 in block shots at 8.9 per game and were holding opponents to 15.1% field goals. Additionally, they had a 28 game road win streak. Therefore, why are fans acting as though they just won the NCAA tournament? Weren't the cocks expected to beat a #9, two loss team that they had beaten 14 consecutive times?
According to gamecock nation, the LSU tigers had played a weak inferior schedule that would be telling. However, their post game reaction lets me know that they didn't believe all the narratives they had been spewing leading up to the game. They were capping all along. They were on pins and needles just like me. I knew it would be close. The tigers led the game for 36 minutes, and it wasn't decided until the final 30 seconds. It was actually a game the tigers let slip away. Reese out played Cardoso and blocked her twice. Kamilla's block on her was a missed foul call. Reeses's fifth foul on RJ probably caused them the game. She was giving Kamilla the business. Although a SC fan, I have to keep it a buck. Even with all their acclaim, SC was fortunate to win. †

winning by 6 after a 11 point deficit is a 17 point turnaround so they were overwhelmed by the gamecocks. the 11 point deficit was eliminated with reese in the game

Bad coaching job by Mulkey. She played her starters the whole first half without any substitutions, by the end of the game they were out of gas, and in foul trouble.

Can’t say overwhelmed in a game that SC had to come from behind to win. Talent was pretty equal on both sides SC had more depth but it was either team’s game with three minutes left in the fourth. That by definition isn’t an overwhelming.
Doesn’t take away from SC’s victory but they didn’t run LSU off the floor by any means. I’m not sure SC wins if Angel Reese doesn’t foul out. LSU confidence wise isn’t the same when she isn’t on the floor. Even though she has skillset issues her presence was missed.
Hopefully we get another matchup in the SEC tournament.

SC completely underwhelmed. Terrible at the charity stripe. Poor shot selection, not just missing "easy" shots. The only thing that saved their bacon was a weak LSU bench, and Reese fouling out. SC will struggle outside the SEC, especially if they come up against a strong outside shooting team like Iowa .

HVL isn’t overrated, she’s learning a new position which takes time. Hopefully once March arrives she is more confident if not I think poa will probably end up playing more than she does.
Morrow impressed. Most team points for LSU. She's a more consistent contributor than Reese and Johnson.

The games needs 6 refs on the court at all times. If the 4th foul on Angel is corrected to who the foul was on ... Cardoso ... LSU wins the game.
South Carolina is second half team. LSU's 7 player rotation will get tired or in foul trouble with S Carolina's full team. Angel Reese is the star of this match up, no question with that. BUT BASKETBALL IS A TEAM SPORTS.

Cardoso got away with as much as Reece did -- but my point is less about officiating than it was about Reece making a huge mistake on foul 5. I was all Gamecocks in this one and was happy to see Reece leave the game
No one knows how it would have turned out but you tell that Gamecocks were wearing them down……out running them in the last three minutes of the game

@5:20 Mulkey shortened Poa's playing time because she wanted HVL to be the star or at least A star for the night. Things were looking good for the first half of the game, and Mulkey had the whole narrative written in her head about HVL coming into her own as PG if LSU won. It's just disgusting.

Lol this vid is so dumb. The title is misleading. The actual reality of the game was at no point in the entire 40 minutes was SC ahead of LSU since the score was 2-0. They scored a lucky three point shot in the final like 2.5 min and that was it. lol

The most interesting thing I’ve noticed about SC is that they don’t have a main star player shooting most of the points for them. In Iowa it’s Caitlin, LSU it’s angel etc.
Dawns coaching doesn’t get enough credit amongst casual fans, she’s fantastic at teaching her team great skills and helping them improve on there talents.
Iowa ain't beating South Carolina this year. Won't be surprised if Iowa gets bounced early like two years ago before everyone jumped on the Clark bandwagon

LSU, with a very depleted bench led practically the entire game. Miserable shot selection by both teams. Even free throws % on both sides were a joke. Reese has the dumbest foul-out ever, with 4 minutes remaining. Van Lith underwhelms when she was scoring 20 PPG with Louisville. Cardozo is really big, and really slow. Honestly, if these are 'elite' teams, pretty much anybody in the top 25, on the right night can take either of these teams down. The style of play reminds me of why I wasn't interested even in men's collegiate basketball back in the 80's/90's....move the ball around on the perimeter, dribble under the iron from wing to wing, then have someone muscle in and penetrate in the paint, hope for the basket, hope for the foul. PAC 10, BIG 10, hell UConn with multiple losses could prove more than a match for either team any given game.

This was LSU's super bowl. They swung as hard as they could but didnt get the knock out and eventually Carolina wore them down. Next opportunity is in the conference tournament but its not likely the Gamecocks will shoot as poorly from beyond the arc next time.
Reese played a little bit better than Cardoso but there is more talent on the Gamecocks and it eventually showed. LSU is in trouble and might fade some trying to be top 4 in the SEC when Reese graduates.

Bro what do you mean Reese won the numbers game? Reese had 4 more points than Cordoso true, but she had one more turnover, one less steal, and most importantly she fouled out!! Lastly, Cordoso were a non-factor until the second half so the damage were done by her when it counted the most. Reese went into the 4th with the same stat line she finished with. Numbers aren't just "numbers" in bball, those digits have a story within them!! At best the match-up were a wash in comparison. In the clutch, your best ability are availability, so where was Reese in the clutch?

Basketball is the easiest sport to fix. That game proved it. It has gotten so bad, they don`t care how obvious it is.

Reese never blocked Cardoso they were both fouls that never got called. Cardoso also didn't foul herself out of the game. And Reese didn't get to the free throw line like she usually does. I think Cardoso won that battle.
Reese offensively is limited struggles when she plays girls just as big if not bigger. Statistically she might've put up better numbers than Cardoso for LSU to beat any of the elite teams Reese and Williams have to play better.

Cardoso admitted after the game that Reese won the battle when she was interviewed by a Latino Sports TV.
Maybe biased as expected Reese to get dominated by KC and she didn't. Reese is under sized at the 5 so IMO playing Cordoso to a draw is a win IMO.
