    Converted mine to run a Rohloff gear hub, had the wheel made up in Germany , stuck a 38t Race Face Narrow Wide Single Chain ring up front, and 18t cog on the gear hub, high recommend this bike for its build and price compared with others in the market

    Looks lovely.. I feel like a bike like that must attract many eyes... Too many eyes! It looks like a thieves dream. I'm kitting out mine to look and be more budget'y to avoid those seeing a rolling bag of money.... But I tend to end up in less savory places as well.

      You would be surprised at how ordinary it looks with a bit of grime and a bohemian-looking cyclist on top! We haven’t had any issues with security so far through 22 countries and almost a year.

    Hi, Great bike.
    We are looking into long distance touring bikes and your set up looks great. We are in the uk and looked into thorn and oxford bikes so far. Can i ask where did you pick yours up from?? It would be nice to test ride one.
    Thank you.

    Any updates on your bike? Has there been any problems or something you'd change on it? I'm looking to get one for a UK to Singapore trip. Thanks

      Hey! We’ve ridden them so far from London To Saigon, via the Pamirs, and we love them more and more every day! The spec is fantastic, very happen with the hydraulic brakes. I’ve changed my bars to Jones Loop bars and found them more comfortable that the butterflies. And we’ve added a larger cassette to help with the SE Asian hills. If I had the money I would look at a rohloff drivetrain - but they are quite pricey! Can’t recommend the Bike enough.

    What's the item on the top tube mounted near the seat tube? Looks like a low vision/blind person's collapsible cane....

    That's a great bike ! Where can I find the extension on the KLICKfix system (handlebar bag) ?

    • @rollingeast
      @rollingeast  Před 6 lety

      guile0 It’s made by Ortlieb. I think they call it the extension bracket.

    How did you get the Cycle2charge internal cable routing to work? I'm looking to adding it to my TX400, but it seems there's no hole for the cable..

      joppetie it will come out the bottom of the steerer tube, then wrap it around the fork leg!

    How are you finding the tx-400 so far? How is the frame? Do it shimmy under full load?

    • @rollingeast
      @rollingeast  Před 7 lety

      +yaknyeti The frame is great. Steel has a nice compliance, and actually feels more stable fully loaded!

    Just wondering for the rear view mirror, you set it on the right, this is ok when you ride on the left hand side of the road, but when you ride on the right hand side (most of the European countries do) your mirror will give you a nice view of the shoulder of the road. Just hope you can easily switch it to the other side.

    • @rollingeast

      +Un Pajaro Sin Nido the shifters are Deore.

    • @schmuhf
      @schmuhf Před 7 lety

      If you ever consider an upgrade of the drivetrain, XT shifters are quite expensive, but feel a lot better than the Deore items. More precision, less lever travel required.

    • @rollingeast
      @rollingeast  Před 7 lety

      +Dennis Thanks for the info, Dennis. No planned upgrade, although if I did it would most likely be to a rolhoff with carbon belt!

    Steel? Does it rust?

  •  Před 7 lety +1

    I met cyclists in bolivia who lost roloff oil for the height, it does not solve the chain change,
    Has fewer options in the marches if you compare it with a shimano and it is terribly expensive
    If you have a problem with the wheel they will have to do spokes the whole wheel, if the rolhoff breaks in an remote place ........ those problems do not have them with a shimano, it is better to know something of mechanics this is a bike friends, my solution is to take 2 chains and change them every 3000 km with a link I quickly avoid changing the casette.
