That poor girl. Stolen from mum, groomed by stepdad, likely assaulted by stepdad, married to stepdad, murdered by stepdad and her child kidnapped and murdered by stepdad. How much is one person to endure? This is why I do not judge people's lives. You never know what they have endured to end up where they are. So tragic.
That's a tral sad story. Did they eve found the baby she gave up for adoption when she was a teenager? Maybe her mother and family she was kidnapped from could at least be reunited?

In the 2nd story, a reporter broke the story wide open about the boy pretending to be the missing child named Nicholas by comparing photos of Nicholas’s ears. There are so many people who aren’t aware of the fact that an accurate identification of someone can be done by their ears. As the narrator said, a person’s ears never changes throughout their lives. A person’s ears are just as unique as their fingerprints.
Ears do get bigger as we age, but otherwise you are correct.

Well that would be the courts not law enforcement. LE just arrests and all that, it's the judicial system that decides how long someone serves time.

How little Sharon managed to be so successful in high school and get a scholarship while being raised by a monster like Frank is beyond me. He destroyed a lot of lives.

Why was frank ever released from jail in the first case? All of this could have been avoided if he had stayed in prison. Poor Cheryl, Sharron, and Michael.

Her seeking out security and comfort through multiple men isn’t uncommon with women who experienced assault, especially ongoing assault. That doesn’t make her a bad person, that makes her a flawed person trying to deal with and survive her reality. Reading more about Frank, their life, and her life is really interesting and heartbreaking.

What do you think the murderous p*do would have done to said teen boyfriend (that the victim attempted to run away with) if it was common knowledge that it was his child ( if it even was)? It's like you zoned out on half the friggin' video. Those irrational pregnancies and ''cheating'' seems more like desperate attempts to get help/support from outsiders in the only way such an abuse victim knew how to (in line with the whole stripper thing)...
When the con artist expresses concern about the family he's trying to con, that's when you know things are really messed up. That subtle "goodluck" to a total stranger you know nothing about whom you know is trying to con your family, and the con artist knows that you know, chilling. Spine chilling. I can't imagine a situation like that. That family definitely murdered that child and I think he's in the house. All the family lives there and evidence is only circumstantial so they'll never be able to obtain a warrant to that extent, they'd need some hard evidence to link the two first and the family covered their tracks. They created a catch 22 situation to protect a body.
They should go undercover, pretend to be a dog walker, only the dog is a cadaver dog. Pretend it ran off it's leash onto their property. See where it goes.
The guy is a serial imposter, and seemingly lies to get attention. so it's entirely possible that he's making it all up to keep the spotlight on him following the case, plus he looks less bad if people think that the family was in on it.
If I was trying to hush up a murder, the last thing that I would do is attact atention back to the case with a highly-publicised, and quite frankly, ridiculous hoax.
@@arfived4 i dont like the guy`s "work" either, but there are 2 things to consider in this case... a) he did this since he was a teen.. running away, pretending to be someone...looking for shelter... and Nicholas wasnt the only real kid missing he tried to impose... but it was the only time it worked...
b) he isnt that kind of a media-b***h, he gave rare interviews(i think it was 2)...never wrote a book or anything(afaik).. and all the docus and movies and stuff werent his work.. so i dont think he told this story for money... and he never told any stories of any other possible incidents with other families or stuff...
i think the family was trapped and unable to react "correct" due to their fear to handle the situation wrong when their "son" was found.. if u do someting u think about what can happen afterwards (sometimes maybe not after the crime itself..but u think at one point "what mistakes could i have made, what will the cops ask if they ask me...yada yada).. noone thought of a french guy with too much time + fantasy
@@traudelbunbel132 He's served his time, he admits that he was a con artist, and even has said that he never thought he'd get away with assuming the identity of Nicholas Barclay, he knew he looked nothing like him. He has nothing to gain by lying (he still insists to this day that Beverly -the mom - told him that Jason killed Nicholas)

@@michaelwilder9938 The power of wishful thinking - I can't imagine what it's like to get up each day, and not know where your child is, or what happened to them, and to be almost certain that they have come to a harm that you couldn't protect them from.
They wanted to believe that their child had been found, was safe, and had come back to them, even though they knew deep down that it almost certainly wasn't true.
As soon as they got the result of the test, they would have to accept that the whole thing was a lie, and return to the near-certainty that he was out there somewhere, most likely laying dead and undiscovered in some remote place, and that they would never really know what happened to him.
Nicholas Barclay had been blonde haired with blue eyes, had two tattoos and spoke English...he came back with brown hair and brown eyes, no tattoos and French...The family murdered that poor boy and latched on to the ridiculous story so it looked like a kidnapping.
I watched that show. It was so obvious it was an imposter. But I always thought the family was hiding something, because they accepted him even though he looked nothing like the child they lost..

@@AlbionRising Friends of Nicholas said that the problems got worse when Jason (who was actually a half-brother to Nicholas and several years older) moved in. Jason was a drug addict with a violent temper, and the mother, Beverly, was a heroin addict. They were both in recovery when Frederic (the fake Nicholas) came into their lives. Shortly before Jason's death, he was questioned by investigators, and he admitted that he knew Frederic was an imposter but he wasn't going to tell his family that. Hmm. Beverly refused to give a DNA sample when the authorities wanted further confirmation that Frederic wasn't Nicholas. I don't know if Carey knew anything about what actually happened to Nicholas but it does seem that she coached Frederic. The phone call Jason made seems to cement the theory that he had murdered Nicholas and was trying to make it seem that he was still alive.
Damn that first story is so tragic, that poor girl never had a chance.
I can't ever shake her off.... this story has stuck with me for yrs 💔

Wow, Sharon's co-workers had to pay for her headstone while Frank was calling around trying to collect life insurance checks on her. She had such a bright future ahead of her and he ruined her life.
I consume true crime at an unhealthy level, and I can truly say Frank's story is the most bananas series of crimes I have heard. It wouldn't even work as fiction, it's just too bonkers.

I had watched Girl in the Picture recently, which covered this case and was like oh I know this one! (I also consume a ridiculous amount of true crime content), but when I saw the documentary on it it really broke my heart. I got emotional at times bc for at least 16yrs Susan/Sharon lived under the most awful conditions a person could and she still strove to be a good person and didn't break from all the abuse. It was shown that she was raped in front of a high school friend by Frank and the morning after she told her friend "It's okay, youre okay, I'm okay. Hes just like that" my heart was in my throat! 😢
That picture of beautiful baby Michael hurts my heart. He deserved so much better, as did his mother (Sharon/Suzanne). Unfortunately, they were under the grasp of a truly evil psychopath who would never allow them to be happy.
He made justice system happy. Another psycho to set free!
That was almost exactly like the plot of Lolita by Nabokov. Makes me sick.

Imagine being a con artist just trying to trick some family who lost their kid so you can get into America and con more people, but then the family immediately knows you're conning them, goes along with it, helps you, and uses you to cover for the fact that they actually off'd their kid.
The con artist: damn, that's another level of craziness I've got myself into here...

So Frank was allegedly too disabled to work, but he wasn’t too disabled to fight and harm women or to commit crimes.
The fact that frank constantly committed numerous crimes after just being released, and then he still manages to get away with it, and he isnt even charged for the murder of sharon

I'm 22 and French, and lemme tell you "l'affaire du petit Gregory" put the whole country in such a shock that we still talk about it today. This is such a tragedy and I think we'll never stop talking about it.
And it's not yet solved at this point !
That poor baby. I do hope that his case is solved, one day soon. I'd like to see the perpetrator punished for taking that poor little darling's life. It reminds me of the JonBenét Ramsey case in the U.S.

I'm from Croatia in Europe and there's been recently tragic death of a little girl. She died on Easter day. She had two and a half years and social workers took her from mother because she wasn't good. After mother gave birth two more babies with her new boyfriend she got her daughter back and they were worst parents ever. They molested her, and little girl died from lots of bruises and other wounds. They hit her hard with their feet until she passed out and got hospitalized. She was in bad condition for days and eventually passed out 😢😢😢. Social workers knew something was wrong with a relationship between mother and little girl. Even grandma talk to social workers and tell them that little girl shouldn't be with her mother but they disobey every sign! Little girl was bring back to a monster mom and lived in suffer. In the end she died. Only 2,5 years!😢😢😢 Whole country is NOW on legs but just to point out a blame to another. Here we got system that couldn't even be called that way.

My best friend's uncle disappeared in 1990 when he was just 23 yo, he was coming back from a bar and he was never seen again, my friend's grandmother still waits desperately for her son to walk through her door and embrace her, when a relative dies it's hard to accept their death but when a relative disappears without a trace our hearts still hold onto that sliver of hope that they are alive.
There's another French case with a lot of weird twists, I remember growing up with her pictures everywhere and it really touched me when I was younger (and still today)... It's the Estelle Mouzin case, she was nine when she disappeared in 2003, walking home from school and the case was finally shut last year or two years ago after a lot of dead ends ...
My grandma had two child twins girl and boy who died because my grandpa refused to buy for them pharmacy milk they gave them normal milk they died 😓 I felt bad when I knew they say because they were poor but I don’t believe them my mon gave birth to me there I’m grateful they didn’t give me normal milk my mon breastfeed me till the age of 3

Yes, and friends of Nicholas have said that Jason (who was actually Nicholas's half-brother) made things worse as he was a heavy drug addict with a bad temper, and their mother, Beverly, was also a drug addict. The family loves to portray Nicholas as the problem but they were the cause of many of his issues. Jason's behavior, especially, is a red flag.

They gave that little boy to a man that showed up to the school with a gun and didn’t immediately call the police???
The only witness to that happening was tied to a tree and left.. so he couldn't alert authorities immediately unfortunately

@@subblonde3101 He went with the principal to get the boy, then kidnapped him too, tied him to a tree and left with Michael. The principal had very little choice in any of it, in fact he was left out to die, but was found in time.
I really hope Gregory‘s parents will finally get their answer. Their love must be extraordinary strong, considering they still are together!

I would second that but I would stipulate that the gentleman who narrates for this channel is my favorite of all the channels I watch. His cadence and story telling is in my humble opinion top shelf, so thank you for your skill and everyone who is involved in this channel.
I love watching this kind of documentaries and I still can't accept the fact as to how easy it is for others to just end the lives of the innocent ones especially when it was executed by their own flesh.
Franklin Floyd is one of those people that even someone as anti-death penalty as myself wouldn't mind watching fry.

I remember hearing about the last case on REPLY ALL. I believe they interviewed him before he passed away. The imposter really did thought it was strange how welcoming the family was - as if they were trying to cover a dark secret, and with the imposter saying that he was Nicholas, they couldn't do nothing but played along. Very wild and crazy case.

I think what I’ve learned from watching these lots of crimes is that the murderer or the killer is always the one who’s closer to you and someone who knows you.
The majority of crimes and child abuse is usually perpetrated by someone the family knows.
Except for the times when it’s not… 😑
This is also the case with sexual crimes as well. Statistically... if it's gonna happen to you, it's most likely gonna be someone you know. Truly horrifying stuff.

Yes, the narration is truly entertaining and extraordinary. Raven reminds me of a Book narrator who once worked for the national library service; I’ll never forget how enthralling his story narration ability was. Thanks for your uniquely good story-telling ability, raven as well as the female narrator who’s screen name I have yet to learn. I firmly believe, based on what has been released to the public about the case, that Nicholas Barclay was murdered by his family at the time he went "missing". I think the family went along with the guy pretending to be Nicholas' façade because it would have absolved them of any suspicion.

They received the threats for years while nothing happened.
It was deep into French countryside in the 80s and the house was isolated. The reason that story got so famous is because nothing ever happens there. People used to not even lock their doors and cars, that’s saying.
Also it went on for years and the whole family got the letters. As seen in interviews, in their perspective they never expected from the letters a kid would get murdered.

If u have a good look at "Sharons" photos throughout her story, u can find that they're almost disturbing. She clearly doesn't appear happy & if anything come across kind of dark and almost sinister even. I'm aware she is the victim in this story & am not trying to imply anything because I think we can all agree she's had a horrific unfulfilled life. I guess if u've had to endure all that she's been thru, it would make difficult trying to smile for damn photos.

This happened in very small town in rural France in the 80s, not todays America. The whole extended family (dozens of people) got the letters and phone calls, they werent taken too seriously. They were also made by a member of that large family, so I guess no one expected it ending in a murder of child. Very good documentary about this is on Netflix, Who killed little Gregory or something like that, cant remember the exact name.
Hasn't the the situation been going on for four years too? I think at some point people stop to care so much about a threat, if nothing ever happens.

It might not be Top Tenz, but it's a super popular channel whose name I can't recall right now. I can't watch the videos because he has a weird, amused intonation. Also, the voice for Criminally Listed would be annoying if I wasn't so used to it by now.
I highly recommend the book "A Beautiful Child" by Matt Birkbeck. It's a detailed account of the investigation into Sharon Marshall. The book was published prior to her identification as Suzanne, but it is still a good read.
It was a very good book! I just noticed he wrote a sequel to it in 2018!

it genuinely blows my mind that people will abuse, rape and murder. like.. never in my life have i had a moment where i have even considered doing something so despicable to innocent people going about their lives, especially my own family or friends. i just.. can't wrap my head around the idea of WANTING to hurt innocent people..

lol why didn't they just check for the tattoos on the guy pretending to be nicholas barclay? the kid got 3 DIY tattoos, why wouldn't detectives look for that and it would've cleared it up?!
I've seen the netflix documentation in which they explained that the imposter "copied" the tattoos of Nicolas after seeing his pictures.

I remembered the first story from a lot of true crime doc TV shows, so I already knew how disgusting the killer was and how horrific the tragedy was. People who knew her truly loved her and wanted her to thrive, it was so sad to see their heartbreak through their testimonies of her 🥺 at the time they aired, they didn't know her real name or true history, it was truly an aloof situation. I'm very happy to learn we finally know her real name, because it helps her friends and family heal. I'm glad that monster rots in jail to this day, because he 1000% deserves to be there.

There's a Law & Order: SVU episode that's probably based on the Nicholas Barclay case. Girl was missing for years, imposter (who'd actually escaped captivity from her bio dad) showed up and pretended to be her, and turns out one of the older sisters had killed the girl and the mom knew about it. It's called Stranger, season 10 episode 11.
I want to thank you for being the only crime youtube channel I've found who talks about women in your stories respectfully - referring to their character traits, rather than their looks. Can't count the # of times male crime commentators just say 'beautiful young woman/girl'. Deeply appreciated.

The first story is so confusing
From my understanding, basically, the step father abducted the children of his first wife, placed them into social services, yet kept one of the daughters. He basically kept traveling with her and giving new aliases; there's also suspicion he raped and abuse her, since thet did get married at one point--I think. The step daughter got pregnant twice, from two separate fathers, but kept the second son (Michael), which the step father (technically step grandfather) kidnapped from school and murdered, after he was denied custody as he wasn't the real father. I think the problem is how this video was told, as it kept going back and forth, so it was rather confusing.

The thing that always got me with Gregory Villemin is that there is repeated references to his father's work promotion, yet police solely focused on family members instead of following up on other candidates for the position or employees who may have fired or otherwise faced disciplinary action
The person who wrote the letters was a family member. They knew all the dirtiest family secrets.
Adding Boss felt like an obvious misdirection. If you didn't want to get caught, you wouldn't put something that narrowed the pool of suspects so clearly.

@K J Sharon Marshall, Tanya Hughes, and Suzanne Savakis are all the same person. She was the little girl kidnapped by Floyd and then "raised" and abused by him until her death (murder, IMO). Cheryl was Sharon's friend whom Floyd abused and murdered.

My sister disappeared when she was 3 and after a few hours we were able to find her in the arms of a police officer. Luckily nothing happened to her and he was holding her for us. This was the only time we lived something like this in my family , but oh well you know life has unexpected turns. It was 1985
