  • These engines with extremely high RPMs need the thicker oil viscosities to make up for the clearances between engine parts to properly lube and prevent engine failure. Do not use thinner oils. The best engine spray is a silicone spray to repel salt water. This engine drains and fills oil through the dipstick.

    Thanks for the video! You sound just like my son. He refuses to let anyone work on his vehicles (and now ours) because he said you have no idea what they've done to them. Ironically, he was an auto tech for several years before changing career paths, but his shop was the exception to the "auto shop" stigma. They were always very careful and never did things like over tighten oil pan bolts, but he used to tell us some horror stories of the cars people brought in that had work done at other places. Once, a large car dealer in the area brought a car to my son's shop so they could fix something they didn't know how to.

      Awesome to hear. I do all our car maintenance too. Spark plugs, coil packs, breaks, rotors, oil, diff fluid, T-case, troubleshooting, filters, all of it, you name it. The only thing I haven’t done to our vehicles is rebuilds. That’s really cool how other places bring messed up cars to your son to fix, well, in his previous like if work.

    The hose you tried to extract oil out of is the wrong hose. It's a one next to it goes into a plastic plug. In the video, it's the hose to the right.

    My manual says to grease the intermediate housing, I can’t find the grease nipple. Just curious if you found a way to grease the bearing?

      And the manual doesn’t show an image or location of the grease fitting? Thats odd, now I’m going to check my manual. Usually, grease fittings are for ball joints for cars to keep them greased but ya got me on that one.

    How do you like the tr1 engine. Do you wish you would have got the 1.8 liter? Are you happy with the fuel consumption on the tr1?

    • @redrightreturn1085

      The 1.8, sure, I guess now that I’ve had this for a year, but 52 MPH is fast enough for me on a wave runner. It’s definitely great on gas. I run it for a few hours each time, some WOT, some cruising and after the 3-4th time it will need gas👍🏽

    Did ur oil smell like gas our tr1 the last 2 oil changes smelled like gas in the oil

    • @redrightreturn1085
      @redrightreturn1085  Před rokem

      The oil didn’t smell like gas. Watch my recall for gas leak video on what could happen and venting out the hull etc. check your plugs to see if snug, as loose plugs can cause a gas smell too.

      @@Digginlittle ah, yes, the front bow “hood area”. Here’s what I do. Remove the front seat and set it on the back seat while in storage. (I keep mine in the garage so it’s out of the elements). Long story short, the gas tank is under the front seat and there’s zero ventilation or blowers inside the hull. I made another video explaining all this (my kaboom avoidance video ). This isn’t a problem and not a gas leak, in your case. This is gas vapors with nowhere to escape. Mine smells like gas fumes unless I keep the front seat off. You’re good just watch that video for the full explanation 😎👍🏽

      Take a punch, or screwdriver or ice pic etc and punch a hole in the top of the oil filter, AND unscrew the crank case fill on top right where your coil packs for your spark plugs are😎👍🏽

      @@Strangerthingsvehicles anyone who watches this video, in full, WILL successfully change the oil without incident in this unit. If you are referring to some of the trial and error that was done AND caught live, that’s still not wrong info. 1) the fogging oil is for winterizing the engine, and lubing components 2) i pointed out the flush, dipstick fill, and crankcase fill. 3) oil viscosity will break down faster with higher RPMs, 4) keeping the seat off is how you avoid mold building up in the hull.
