    For those of you considering this, I suggest going to 9:30 in the video and listen very closely to the sound this thing makes after he starts that truck and it achieves stable idle. The BOV just cycles open and closed when at idle and it sounds like a sprinkler head under your hood. Totally absurd, plenty of users complaining about that.

    Wouldn’t that exposed spring rust and break eventually. My concern is road salt in the winter. Also what is the difference between the supersonic and your original BOV?

    • @TurbosmartHQ
      @TurbosmartHQ  Pƙed rokem

      The spring is not made of steel so corrosion is not a concern. The Supersonic is pneumatically controlled by a vacuum reference and the Vee Port EM (TS-022-5-1001) is electronically controlled by the ECU. Performance is virtually identical.

  • @nickh3809

    Everyone, the boost port on (2018) is the same one that goes to your EVAP check valve (the one with the orange nipple) after you cut the factory hose down the middle to remove the spline line. Its a pain in the ass on 2018 2.7L because you have to CAREFULLY wiggle the T fitting at an angle, push the little metal clip behind it backwards, and push it past the oil cooler/fuel line because the T fitting is way too long. almost broke my dam Throttle body inlet nipple off. Also you have to install the 2 fittings on the T AFTER you have it on the truck, because you have to turn it 180 degrees, insert and tighten 1, add the hose and tighten, then turn it another 180 degrees without hitting the top of the intake manifold, install other nipple/hose/clamp. I just installed mine today and im very disappointed. The T is too long and not airtight enough for the 2018 2.7L as i had a slight vacuum leak there, and had almost an INCH of play between the locking area you put the 'securing' clip on (it barely does anything).. so i had to wrap Teflon around my Throttle Body nipple where the T goes, and could only get half of it because at that point trying to remove the T is dam near impossible without either breaking your adapter or having to remove everything and start from scratch. Anyway after 'adjusting' it for over 20 minutes, the best i could get was on first throttle my BOV would engage 'not very loud', but never again after that even if i waited, or immediate throttle. Maybe i'll try to adjust it 1 more time tomorrow when i get to work, but other than that, trust me i was estatic to think i could have a BOV on my truck, but this was a huge letdown. Im also an L1 'Advanced' Master Tech and 8 year mechanic, and i slightly 'struggled' with this outdated install. (Not for 2018 2.7Ls....).. so i'll give an update tomorrow if any luck otherwise im going back to stock and saving myself the stress and headache that this eventually caused me..
    Also you have to 'adjust' your BOV before you even put the CAC large pipe on, because the BOV relief end runs into the CAC hose.. but removing the clip that holds it in is quite simple.. so its not so bad, but still annoying. Enjoy. If your debating on buying this and you see this comment, wait 1 more day until i give you an update, or unless TurboSmart can give me any insight or advice. Thanks.
    UPDATE - Ok so i found the problem, my set up was flawless, but the Weld flange was loose, which is why they 'recommend' welding it into place., because it comes loose from the factory and you have to hand tighten it yourself.. like why wouldnt this be welded for us for 300$ lol..? Otherwise, sounds great, but it does cause excess chatter in the throttle body, like ALOT of chatter you would think something was wrong, but lets hope its normal. I will be posting a video on this in a day or 2, so anyone with a 2017/2018 2.7L/3.5L can see all the tweaks that need to be made in order for this to be headache free and not break anything, because this kit hasnt been updated since 2015. But it is possible and it does sound great, but honestly putting a 2$ or 35$ plug in the Recirc line doesnt really sound much softer.. may want to take that route if ur on a budjet and dont plan on tuning or upgrading your factory turbos anytime soon, because the sound is very similar and takes 15 seconds instead of 2 hours. Enjoy.

    On my 2016 3.5 ecoBoost the boost port looks nothing like what you are removing and installing. Am I doing this after the check valve from the line that is coming from the brake booster, and then removing the other end of this line at the TB? There are (2) ports on the TB. Both on the same side atop each other.....

    Have you had any problems with this BOV? I've experienced a ton of compressor surge. I learned that there's 4 holes in the vacuum cap on the top of BOV, and if the hose nipple isn't lined up with one of those holes, it delays the opening of the BOV. I've been fighting with mine since I got it, and it's never worked properly for me.

      When you are on the throttle and it's accelerating through shifts, it doesn't release pressure between each shift. A manual transmission car does because you typically let off the throttle when you shift.

      No. there is no 'increased throttle response", its just for the sound. Now if your planning on spending $3,000-$5,000 on brand new upgraded turbos, then yes you will want this to handle the boost, but i dont see you upgrading anything on a $70,000 truck under warranty lol.

Also you have to put it in at an angle until you get it on about 1/4 inch then straighten it out because the fuel lines etc are in the way, as well as those little metal tabs that stick out of their connection, so be VERY careful otherwise u can break your TB nipple n ur f**ked... the boost Ref adapter is too long/loose for 2017/2018 connections.

    Just pull the recirculation tube plug one end and it’s the same thing for a 15$ part. Don’t waste your time or money doing this.

    Seriously, why isn't there an option to run a 38mm recirculating BOV from your company? A VTA BOV is only going to cause issues. I'm not a fan of the stock BOV due to its design, but I would never run a VTA on a truck, especially with the BOV being so low to the ground. This is just asking for something bad to happen while off road or in some other environment outside of paved city roads. But then again most truck owners today are just parking lot trolls, so never mind.
    Back to my initial inquiry, please offer a kit using the recirculating BOV. Shouldn't be hard, just add 2" of aluminum to that plug and hollow it out. Also include a small 4" section of 38mm ID hose to connected it up and that's it. Bet your company would sell a lot more kits.

      Yes, this does fit but the line we have you modify on the 2.7L will look different than the 3.5L. You can reach out to our USA Support team for installation assistance on your 2.7 model.

      Can you tell me what you find? Tried mine today and notice my hose behind the TB runs into a dual to single inlet connector. Do we just run it to the bottom connection the hose is attached to?

      The functional benefits of a bypass valve/blow-of valve span far beyond the sound emitted when boost pressure is released. If you have ever looked at the factory OE bypass valve, its entirely plastic with poor sealing capability. Our valves are constructed from billet CNC aluminum making them much stronger compared to the OE valve. Additionally, if you ever plan to tune your truck (which includes increases in boost pressure) our valves improve flow, boost handling, and response while preventing compressor surge. This will aid in extending the lifespan of your turbochargers while improving the vehicle's overall ability to regulate boost. If you have any other questions or comments please contact us for assistance. www.turbosmart.com/contact-us
