    21:30 how to enter a fix point on the keypad using Abris coordinates. Thank you for showing how the leading number is 0 (positive) for Northing, and 0(positive) for Easting. I went into the South Atlantic map to test my knowledge by pressing 1 for Southing, and 1 for Westing, while keying in a fix point. Very helpful, thanks.

    Wow thanks man, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for. An intro to BS3 cold Start Up & some Nav stuff, will watch again. Seems no one is doing many tutorials on BS3. I guess Apache stole all the thunder huh? I’m keen on learning this module & hope to see more of your vids on this awesome Rotor. Cheers GA 👌

    At 8:45 you have to enter the current latitude instead of the magnetic declination. The gyrocompass needs that value to calculate the compass drift caused by the rotation of the earth. The N/S switch above selects the northern or southern hemisphere.

    • @generalgrevous2458
      @generalgrevous2458 Před 11 měsíci

      ? Where would you enter current latitude and isn't current already entered (Self Cordn 6:03)?

    • @marvinblomer991
      @marvinblomer991 Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@generalgrevous2458 At 8:45 his cursor is pointing to the scale where the latitude should be dialed in. Right below the N/S switch. With greek letter φ next to it. Which stands for latitude btw. At 6:03 he entered it coordinates into the INU which is a different system. The compass system doesn't know which latitude is entered into the INU.

    Adding WP's in the ME is straight forward (same as other modules). How do you designate a target point in the ME ? Perhaps you can cover that in a future video. Thanks.

  • @nialball9023
    @nialball9023 Před rokem +1

    Hi. Thanks for the video, it was a great help. However, I believe there are a couple of errors. Using the two dials on the left panel you set the heading and 'declanation' - I think this is wrong. The left dial is for magnetic variation and on the Caucuses map it is just a little over 7 degrees. The right dial is for Latitude and should be set to 42 degrees in your example.
    You also talked about differences in lat long between the two systems. That is because the ABRIS uses degrees, minutes and seconds my default while the PVI 800 is set to degrees, minutes and decimal minutes. You need to change the units in the ABRIS then the lat long correspond in both systems.
    Anyway,thanks for taking the time to make the video. I now sit through 15 minutes of initialisation for every mission 😂

  • @FerrellJ
    @FerrellJ Před rokem +3

    6:20 The lat/long coordinates on the INU panel appear to be degrees and *decimal* minutes as opposed to degrees, minutes and seconds (as on the ABRIS panel). Hence why they don't match.

    • @MarcTNL
      @MarcTNL Před rokem

      Yes. And it is is quite easy to set the ABRIS to D/M/Dec. That's the first thing you should to when the ABRIS is started up. And maybe put your altitude to feet. In the main menu select Option - Setup - Units. Use up/down to select the desired item and use "Change" to change it.

  • @MarcTNL
    @MarcTNL Před rokem +1

    Finaly, the video I have been waiting for. Comming from the BS2, this doesNOT make me happy though. Apparently this was all not modelled in the BS2, which made life much easier. First of all, you didn't have to wait 15 minutes from a cold start ! Jeeez !
    Wouldn't it be good the first of all set your ABRIS to D/M/Dec ?
    Can you also make a video about the special settings for the BS3 in the mission-editor ? There are some NAV-settings you can choose from.
    Can you also demonstratie if the datalink-points still can be (usefully) shared with your wingmen ? Since your drift might be different the the WM's drift, what happens if you capture a target and send it to your WM ?
    Thanks

    • @deephack
      @deephack  Před rokem

      Thanks for the tip on the ABRIS units. I didn't think of this. Different drift and variances in the position derived from the laser rangefinder is implemented and so datalink points will never be exact but should always be good enough to get your wingmen looking in the right area.

    Hi, great video, thanks 👍🏻 I have a problem that you may be able to help with. I follow your tutorial for normal alignment but when I turn on the INU the HUD just goes straight to the normal 'in flight' HUD. I don't get the letters at the bottom of the HUD as you do.
    In the back of my mind I sort of recall a control setting that does an automatic alignment, maybe that's turned on or maybe I just dreamt that bit 😂 Any ideas?
    Thanks again for the Ka-50 III tutorials.

    • @nialball9023
      @nialball9023 Před rokem

      I was beginning to think I imagined this but I found the settings I was looking for.
      In the Mission Editor go to 'Additional properties for aircraft' - the three dots next to waypoint editing. You will get the following options ...
      Realism
      No alignment or fixtaking needed
      No alignment needed but fixtaking
      Fully realistic
      At hot start
      Fast
      Normal
      Normal with Gyro
      If you select 'Fully realistic' th eINS initialisation will be as Deephacks's video.
      I hope this helps anyone else who is having the issue I had 😀👍

    Hi, the INU over waypoint aligment can only be done on hover or can you do it on the run while moving?. Also INU Corrections using Shkval are working?

    • @deephack
      @deephack  Před rokem

      You can do it while moving but your timing on pressing uncage will have to be quite good. Yes, the Shkval fix taking works as I describe in the video, just set the mode switch correctly.

    What does it mean when the overhead-light "AC POS CALDATA" is on ?

    • @deephack
      @deephack  Před rokem

      I think this is when the doppler nav system isn't getting good returns from the ground in order to update the INU. It means that the system is falling back on using the air data system which will be less accurate. Unlike modern western inertial systems the KA-50 takes updates from the doppler nav and air data system rather than GPS in order to reduce drift.

      Under the gameplay tab (or misc tab, can't recall) of the settings, there is an avionics language setting
      If you set that to english, all the digital displays in the game translate to english, with only a few exceptions

    is this the only way to align this helicopter? no store alignment like others? 15 or 20 min is too long

    • @deephack
      @deephack  Před rokem +2

      It has a stored alignment procedure which is labelled as accelerated alignment in the manual which takes only 3 minutes. However I personally feel that this mode drifts too quickly and is less accurate. Alternatively if you don't want to wait you can disable the "Realistic INS" option in the mission editor and your INS will align instantly.

      This is a simulation of how the real aircraft works, you can however disable the option in the mission editor if you would rather not wait. Or do the accelerated alignment I show here and accept the increased drift. czcams.com/video/1sMOCWP4NLM/video.html
