80's RnB Throwback: D-Train - Keep On (DJ FMJ Edit) (with lyrics)

An inspirational song with a positive message, powerful vocals and an unforgettable classic 80's electro-funk sound.
D-Train was a musical duo from New York comprising of vocalist James 'D Train' Williams and keyboardist/songwriter Hubert Eaves III who were friends from high school and would later get the band's name from (D-Train was William's nickname in high school).
Hubert was part of the band Mtume for most part of the 70s and would later collaborate with Williams to form the band.
They released their first single "You're the One for Me" in late 1981 which became an instant success, reaching no. 1 on the US Hot Dance Chart.
"Keep On" would be their second release in June 1982, reaching no. 2 on the US Hot Dance Chart.
The group would next release their cover of the Burt Bacharach song "Walk On By" originally recorded by Dionne Warwick and later Isaac Hayes.
Other notable hits from the duo are "Music", "Keep Giving Me Love" and "Tryin To Get Over" and "Work Your Body".
D-Train was one of the first and only to combine funk, soul, and gospel with electronic elements, and much of what they left behind remains powerful and fresh. They are one of the most exemplary post-disco/pre-house groups, and have remained influential within dance music for almost four decades.
Fortunately James 'D-Train' Williams is still performing live and recording as a featured vocalist on many songs.

Always loved this song! Great lyrics! Clubbing in NYC in the 80’s dancers would raise their arms high when it says “Sky is The Limit” and “Reach” 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 We went to clubs to dance! Not to take selfies! 🤣
