Close up the Honky Tonks is one of the earliest to feature Don, but listen to the studio versions closely and you'll hear lots of Buck and Buck. I prefer the live albums and ranch show versions because Don is amazing.

There are still some country music with pedal steel these days, but not to the extent of yesterday. Many country songs these days lack a melody. Every try to whistle along with a new country song? There are pedal steel guitar players out there the world, and that would like to play gigs. I don't think producers want to call them for jobs anymore. I know there are some, but not a lot. I can't stomach new country s#$@!&t myself, so I wouldn't know if there is any pedal steel on it or not. These days, you may find steel on indy labels, like out of TX, or here on CZcams. I have a pedal steel guitar sitting a couple of feet from me right now, so I am biased.
