You can't get a better berth in Capetown than the Waterfront. I was fortunate to work on a vessel that was berthed there for about 3 weeks over Christmas - new year a few years back and we partied every night. One of the best trips I've done.
eSysman again rocks the MY world with incisive and investigative expertise. No other channel compares. Gotta love this ongoing drama from a bonafide professional and helpers. Cheers
I watch every one of your videos and it never doesn’t stagger me how freaking big these boats are. Unreal
Just think how the average American is pleased by the cargo space in their SUV. Suckers, or lucky to have the ability to appreciate what they have?
I have been anxiously awaiting this video! Cheers!
we use a similar putty in the Navy for sealing around plugs it is amazing stuff
that yellow denso stuff ? messy to use but works great..

@@Darryl_Frost I always keep some in my toolbox - was introduced to it as an engineer officer cadet in the 1980s and it has got me out of very tricky situations on many occasions 👌👍
I used something similar called miliput. I think they still make it. Bought it in the local garage for not very much. The chandlers just down the road charged 4 times as much for a "marine version" (different coloured box!)
A yacht I worked on in the 90s was sent from US East coast to Capetown by the owner (40 days at sea). We were there for three months and the Owner came on board for lunch once. Then we took her to Palma. (another 40 days at sea)
Not that unusual, is it? I was Chief for twenty years and saw plenty of similar waste. I loved the industry when I started but decided in the end that I didn’t find any satisfaction in taking care of a super rich people’s toys when there are others dying for lack of potable water and food. Part of me misses it, but I’m glad to come home every night.
@@lowandslow3939 Agreed, There is a lot of waste in the industry. I didn't see this as waste tho. 80 days at sea is probably cheaper for the owner than 80 days in port. The boat was a 50M Schooner so we weren't burning copious amounts of fuel. We got lots of sea time as crew. Got to see an awesome part of the world and saved all the wages we couldn't spend while at sea.
@@ChrisCameronPhoto Ok. Fair enough if you were under sail.
Chris, I wonder if he was transporting something.
@@boa1793 I don't remember us taking anything there for him, It's possible but I doubt it. There wasn't anything large on board that would have warranted saving shipping. If it was something illegal that would have been very dangerous for him as he had a wine farm and Estate in Stellenbosch, not to mention arrest of the yacht were it to be discovered.
@esysman, There is only one shipyard in Cape Town big enough to handle Nord. That is a shipyard owned and operated by the Damen group, and they are no where near the waterfront. So there is Something weird about the whole setup. Also the Damen outfit in Cape Town as far as I know are primarily focused on heavy industrial operations not luxury yachts.
I'm sooooo disappointed I missed out on that sale of Golden Odyssey. 🙃
Probably the Golden Shadow has been sold to and the big Sports-fisher as well. All part of The Golden Fleet.
Local government (Cape Town) is opposing to National Government. They attempted to have Nord landing in Cape Town blocked. National Government over rided this attempted block as the country has no policy refusing it landing here. It will most definitely be here around 9th or 10th.
Good a place to scuttle it as any I suppose.
Collect your docking fees upfront.
I'm standing by for the fire if it does dock. Ukrainians are at war with the Orks, and lets just any target of opportunity, well, it is a target.🔥🛳🔥🛳🔥🛳🔥🛳🔥
Meet you at the docks 🖐

Excellent report as usual-Thanks
NORD is still my favourite Super Yacht. Love a detailed tour of this Yacht.
My son, who happens to know all the countries in the world, their capitals, and their flags, has often said/complained that BRICS is the least-known country organization in the US & world. He should be happy to know they at least get a shout-out in your video. 🙂

Your son is a redditor, not something to be proud of.
@@churblefurbles My son's never been on reddit. He does have autism. Thanks for being a prick.
I only know about it because of the channel "The China Show".
Brics is the least-known country organization in your world just as Nato is the least known country organization in their world.
The best product I have found for these types of repairs is called Splash Zone, which can be effectively applied underwater below the waterline for general or emergency repairs.
Another good vid, keeping us up to date with all the News..
By the way, a little correction its Multi-lateral (BRICS) not Bi. Cheers
Good to see you. Thanks for the info..take care
Thanks for sharing the info about the compound. That's exactly what I need in my home!
Hello there, I just wanted to let you know that you are doing a tremendous effort and please you must keep up this accurate and very interesting information . . well done.
There are very few, if any 150m berths in the V&A. Most likely will dock at the Cruise terminal in Duncan Dock for fuel and supplies and then find shelter on Sea Point side of the mountain to escape the terrible south easterly wind thats common in summer.
There are only two berths at the V&A big enough to take her. Quay 7 and Jetty 2. And both are normally pretty busy.
If they want to dry dock her at the V&A it'd certainly be "interesting" to see her going in. She has a reported beam of 20m; and the caisson gate into the V&A's Robertson Dry Dock is only 20,7m wide.
Keep up the great work.
That transit to Cape Town passes within reasonable distance from the U.K./US base at Diego Garcia. They do have fuel, but you have to have a US secret security clearance to visit.
However when i was there we did provide services for a large sailing yacht that suffered damage to their sailing rig.
They would also be detained as US sanctions apply!!!!
Doubt they'd need to refuel. Should have the range comfortably.
if they did then it'd almost certainly be in Mauritius.
Interestingly, she will need to re-fuel in Cape Town.
Unfortunately for the yacht, Chevron, Shell & BP supply marine fuel for vessels in the harbour
Isn't there a high security prison at Diego Garcia, a black site.
Happy Sunday!
I remember from years back that a couple of fast yachts, Destriero was one when the Aga Khan was after the Blue Riband record and the Yacht that was built by the late Emilio Azcarraga (possibly Eco ) had mid atlantic rendezvous with fuel tankers as their consumption at chat was more than they could carry. If a Gigayacht and a tanker both went dark it seems to me that this arrangement could be a possibility. Both stories are from Boat International circa late eighties/early nineties. I am however quite old and my memory may be a little hazy. Nevertheless......
You need a time slot on a major news channel lol love the videos and news we would never be told any another way
Great info. The putty sounds interesting too. Can you supply a link where to order in small quantities? Always handy to have some aboard.
Paid for arms /nukes in gold to HSBC. Now come to fetch nukes in South Africa.. The base that developed them just happens to be enroute where SA has logistics to do transfer. 72 tactical war heads plus highly enriched Uranium I guess could be on the shopping list.
I’ve been in the Elanora. It was a magnificent schooner. Almost a complete replica of the Westward.
Could they have appointed a secret rendezvous in the Indian ocean with another ship for refuelling? With AIS off on both ships
Rendezvous with Captain Ramis and the Red October!
No. Refuelling at sea is extremely difficult and highly liable to cause superficial paint damage at the very least. That paint job is about $10-20 million. They dont have the equipment or expertise to conduct refuelling whilst underway.
@@csjrogerson2377 I am sure if the Russian Navy wanted to help NORD and refuel her it is 100% possible without never touching fenders.
NORD is a large enough Yacht that ship wouldn’t need fuel.
That means nothing more than that they may not get the prominent spot in the front, they will find enough room for the yacht somewhere more private with enough security i am sure.
That poor Sailboat. It would have to be moved to a warm dry climate for years to dry. Massive job. It looks 💔 broking.

: ) ! then blame "the ukrainians" -
At 1800 hrs on 1st November the golden odyssey was just north of the Frisian isles heading for Hamburg at 13 mph
I don't remember where but I remember seeing a video with a model of Nord and information on a plaque beside the model. I think it has a 21000 gallon tank 3rd largest in the world, Dilbar is 2nd and 1st is an Exploration yacht I forget the name of.
Many times 21000 gallons. Maybe 210000 gallons. Guessing it burns 15- 20
gallons a mile or more at 16-17 knots.
Going from where you last had a position, off Malaysia, and that it's 7133NM from Hong Kong to Cape Town, assuming a good speed of 16 knots, then it would take about 19 days to transit. You've lost position four days ago, and I'm not sure how many days past it was from sailing out of Hong Kong, but wherever Nord is, it's not in Cape Town yet. Maybe still ten days away? Really, Nord from your last position could easily be heading for the Suez Canal, heading then on to Turkey. South Africa, according Jarad Watney, isn't a big host of super yachts. He previously commented on how rare they were in the country. This could easily be misdirection to hide where Nord actually is heading to.
Nord's route to Turkey is the only one that makes any sense to me at all. And WHY is "Nord" even on the move??? It's too well known a link to the Putin gang and too large a target. Turkey/Black Sea is the only route than makes ANY sense.
What matters to me is that it still implicates the South African government as being a Putin ally.
@@craigfinnegan8534 SA government is a Putin ally. Our government is corrupt and supports other corrupt governments. Cape Town is run by the opposition party and doesn't want the vessel docking there. Unfortunately , local government doesn't control the ports. Rest assured there will be a "welcoming "party if it does decide to dock here.
@@craigfinnegan8534 I find it quite sad countries not speaking out against Putin for this, and even the likes of Saudi Arabia who are taking advantage of the war by buying in cheap Russian oil for their domestic use, and selling their own at a premium.
@@Dwightstjohn-fo8ki Problem with that is the Turks are not letting any military shipping in or out of the Black Sea. Since Turkey is a NATO country. I find it highly likely they will allow Nord to transit into the Black Sea.
Thanks for all of your excellent research that goes into your video's 👍

Thanks also to all the folks who keep a close eye out and send in information to assist. Very good community.
Don’t know if rumour is true or not, but Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is privately owned… and would need to manage their risks
V&A Waterfront is privately owned. 50% by JSE listed company Growthpoint Properties, and 50% by the South African Government Employees Pension Fund.
Expedition Evans channel should look into the yacht. They had fun rebuilding a salvaged, totalled Beneteau to sail and live aboard.
Is "Alledgely" (from your banner under the Nord item) a veiled reference to a "Lead Jelly", and if so, perhaps it's a play on "Lead Belly"?
the V&A waterfront is a working harbour and space is limited, I can take a few large ships, and yachts, Paul Allens Octopuss often docks there, but its not suitable for long stays, I will have a look tomorrow & let you know if it is there.
Fabulous.

Which is why fuelling up is bunkering. As used, replaced by water.
It seem like that rescue vessel could have truned the steering just a litle to keep from hiting that boat.
I’m from Cape Town. The problem is likely a practical thing. A yacht this size won’t be able to fit in the V&A waterfront so it would have to go into the working harbour - hardly very pretty there - and would not be able to stay for long. I’m ashamed to say our national government won’t stop it coming here but it may well get a very frosty welcome if it does.
I bet they'll find them a berth in Simon's Town. Not the first Russian yacht to dock at a naval Base lately.
Why? China will be very pleased and will want to be invited aboard, not to mention about a few million dames.
Bring it to Durban we will keep it in Durban. Reason are just politics of South Africa, people from outside SA won't understand that it's opposition parties at war DA and ANC
Noord has berthed in the V&A if I recall. I still took a photo of it. It can berth no problem.
Go be ashamed in Europe
Very possible the V&A waterfront is full. And sadly as a South African I highly doubt it will be stopped from entering South Africa. 😔
Me too. 😔 Doubtful that SA gov. would block them.
It'll be welcomed with open arms sadly
@@alison__16 Why, what did the owner do wrong? South Africa knows better and have a powerful constitution.
We welcome it with warm hands in South Africa
@@WayneMunro the owner did nothing wrong
I have heard that the Nord is in Maldives. It was spotted by plane. The local mayor of Cape Town (Geordin Hill-Lewis) applied to block the berthing.

I hear there are still a lot of WWII era floating sea mines in the Indian Ocean. It would be tragic if the Nord were to hit one.

I miss your vlogs in random marinas..
Welcome home m Yacht is Ben long tym 💞😂😂💞💯
Victoria Alfred Waterfront is very Small and just being able to fit it into the Waterfront without disrupting the general functioning of the Waterfront which is partly a working fishing harbor also. The sheer size make longer term docking not feasible. It might need to dock in the Main Harbor. Nord would not be denied docking or safe Harbor in South Africa. The ruling Local Government leader is Anti Russia, but he will not succeed in blocking the Yacht.
Let's see. There no legal reason to prevent entry.
M/Y Octopus comes to Cape Town every now and then and one of the last times she was here it was a 20-day stay at the V&A. I'm sure they could manage to fit M/Y Nord and theres no verifiable evidence to say they won't. I'm here at the V&A everyday (work at the iStore) and the harbor looks pretty empty to me. Even for a big girl like Nord.
Local government does not control the ports so you are correct that they will not be able to prevent docking.
However , sentiment in Cape Town is very much against the Russians so expect a "welcoming" party with lots of yellow and blue.
Oh yes The Local government will arrange that, since their leader support the 14000 Russian Civilians killed in Ukrainian Genocide the previous 8 years. Majority of South Africans Support Russia and the Local Government have lost a Huge amount of their support the more the reality surfaces
@@seyisodanielmayekiso3252 Keep a lookout around the 8th to the 12th
I don't know anything about Yachts but they look so massive, My God.
What is update on Nord, also Okto, please track these 2, very NB
Nord looks an impressive yacht
My favorite of the truly gigantic mega-yachts. Probably because the prow has been sculpted to resemble a USN aircraft carrier. Like your own, personal “Enterprise”!
eSysman, did you notice the blotchy shadows at the waterline on the starboard side at 9.25 on the video about half way along the hull. Was this damage or something else? These are not evident on the port side.
M/Y Nord feels so lonely after being rejected so often that the yacht made a Tinder profile hoping at least one port will swipe right 😉
Don't worry, South Africa will be sending dickpics to her soon 😂😂
That stuff reminds me of Bush Pilots repairing floats in Canada. Keep a few beer cans on hand and what is known as Dum-Dum mixed in a plastic bag. Cut off the corner and apply it to damaged float with cut open beer cans to make a patch. Seals hard and under water. Pump out the water and good to go. Float would need a permanent professional repair.
If Nord went through the English Channel, I wonder if it would be subject to arrest?
It’s unlikely it would even try to go through the channel. I am sure you need clearance to enter as it’s one of, if not the busiest shipping lanes in the world. It’s not like it could just slip through during the night
I have just sent a mail for you to a connection of mine to see if I can confirm your story re the booking. Will let you know soonest. Cheers Glen.
Good video as usual. No idea why this stuff is so interesting to me but it is. Sadly, almost every comment I checked in the responses that had a single reply, almost every time it was from a scammer. CZcams seems to be doing nothing.
Heh, not sure if to laugh or facepalm. My comment about spam scams, got a spam scam reply. Busy little bots aren't they.
That is some good putty.
I feel an entrepreneur with a little financial backing, could clean up the Eleanora E & find a permanent dock. Then turn the lower part into 4 or 5 rooms people could spend the night, or a few nights (like a floating hotel). Then turn the top deck into a fine dining restaurant with dancing & a band.
How large do you estimate the Nord fuel tanks, water tanks, etcetera are?
Where do you find your polo shirts? Ebay xx
It’s just epoxy putty. I use it occasionally.
How many gallons of fuel are kept at the docs? I would imagine if Nord comes in for a fill up it could clear out the doc supply?
Cruise ships regularly dock in Cape Town, plus all the merchant shipping that comes through, so I imagine the fuel supply is quite substantial.
Think of all the indoor plumbing or basic education the cost pf buying and owning that yacht could have gone towards for many Russian citizens.
considering they dont care about sending their men to just die without training or equipment...
I would love to see Nord's bridge.
Thats my home!
Sit at anchor in the 'Cape of storms' in winter. LOL Does it fit in the V&A? tight fit. There is a huge cargo port, multiple KM next to it. Much safer and they even repair oil tankers there.
It's not winter in the southern hemisphere.
Nord left Vladivostok so she didn't get iced in...
Summer here now
Nord is one of the most beautiful yachts sailing.
i'm confused, if the owner of a super yacht decides to vacation on one of the Caribbean Islands and the yacht is anchored in Europe it will sail there and the owner will fly to the destination? am i hearing that right? 🤯
That’s correct
And I shove a kayak on my rooftop and drive to the lake...that's my vacation lol

Sounds like someone will pay for a lot of security! 🙄
If something happens to the Nord it will be that faboy from the DA. And i hope he gets arrested and f*cked in the a** in jail
What⁉️ South Africa just said it doesn't have to enforce EU/USA sanctions. Now I need to watch the video!
Well, good for the Ukrainians in South Africa. Turn about is fair play so it's nice to see a yacht intimidated.
you will swallow your words , South Africa is not Anti Russia, only DA is, but then they lost what they gained by supporting Ukraine and Gay dances in Highschool.
@Brandon Liechti The Uniformed are anti Russia. The Openminded and inquisitive one are not. The matter is, are you informed or are you just making Russia a black sheep or scape goat for your flaws and short comings. Russians have I met Russians? Plenty. I had been in Naval intelligence and my specialty had been Russia and information about them, could speak Russian fluently and had lots of interactions with the Russian Black Sea Fleet sailors as part of my work. Can still read Russian Pretty well but speaking need some revival.
@Brandon Liechti Abrasive. Well it is in the culture. They are cultured that Men still date and marry women, And family values. It is very abrasive. a Simple life full of values and morals. It is unacceptable. to most. Looking at what they have and what most got. It is only to envy them. Depending on what your mission is in life. a House in the Alps or a House in Siberia, One filled with money the other filled with knowledge and family. You do not need to be financially rich and powerful to be content.
Maybe look pass the abrasiveness, and see a different Russia.
Hate that square deck at the prow.
Why do the captain and/or crew consent to turning AIS off?
Nord may go to Crimea, as there's a shortage of ships up there
I was just thinking about what a gallon of bed liner sealant for pickups cost, there is absolutely no telling how expensive this ceiling putty is a used on that saving yacht.
⛵ 👀
love the channel, but "sunked"???
Wondering what damage a cheap RPG7 could do to Nord ?
Vladivostok freezes in the winter. Could be worried about ice damaging it?
Nord looks like it will pass Diego Garcia rather closely... AIS off and all that...
There are probably be tracked by surveillance satellites. The US/U.K. Navy would love to have Nord added to their recreational services fir the people on the island😊
I live in CT. I listen to marine radio, our docks are a fuck up generally speaking.

I think the reason for visiting South Africa, especially Cape Town, like i said a lot of tourist is going to Cape Town, a lot of history of SA is in Cape Town, like President Nelson Mandela, Robben island and table mountain. We are popular also for our Wine lands in Cape Town.
I very much doubt tourism is on the agenda
@@alison__16 well, if they dock and explore, there are a lot to do. I'm staying in South Africa, and i personally think that they want to explore Cape Town, because of the things to do, why don't they dock somewhere else in SA. But ya maybe, just a theory.
