Nokta Legend LG24: Good or Bad? My Thoughts So Far.

  • I couldn't wait to get this new Nokta LG24 coil for the Legend. Initial air tests showed amazing depth but do the air tests hold up to real targets in the ground? To find out, I ran some tests in my test garden for M1, M2, M3, and single frequencies to determine the answer. I was shocked but not too shocked at what I discovered. It was an interesting set of tests to say the least and I learned a lot. Check it out for yourself. So far I think I'll really like the coil. Do you? I was able to grab the LG24 back in February and I have used it all summer. I mainly hunt cellar holes in the woods and it is my go to coil. The size is perfect for getting around vegetation and all the other crap that is laying around in the woods. I don't feel as though I am missing out on targets. I have confidence in that coil if I get it over a target it will let me know. Separation is key for me, not depth. That legend/LG24 set up is splendid at picking through those pesky nails. Thanks for posting this!

    Man your Legend videos are really making it difficult to justify buying a Manticore. As a pure relic hunter it feels like the bases are covered with the Deus 2 and Legend. Not to mention the speed with which Nokta keeps spitting out updates. Now if Minelab would do a faster and lighter CTX3030 things would get interesting. Keep up the great videos.

      If you really compared the 2 machines, they aren't even close. The Manticore has a lot things you can't do on the Legend. However, for the price you can't beat the Legend and since they updated to 1.11, it has really come into its own. I like them both for different reasons.

    I only use mine in fresh water lakes but the Legend absolutely does amazing in the water. I have used the LG24 coil in the water as well and it helps really narrowing down the target area. I picked up the lg30 and its also a very awesome coil.
    My LG24 stays on my main machine the whole time, it's a tot lot game changer.

    Great in depth content . Great coil , for really highly infested ground the lg15 does pick it, with very surprising depth. I have a few Roman bronzes buried in test garden and the only coil on the legend that can hit the 6inch one is the lg15, just lack of coverage holds it back for me compared to the 24.

    Great vid.i think it performed like its supposed to, its a 9 inch coil, around 9 inches should be its best range, and you had a little power left to up to check a deeper target also

    Thanks for this video. For me in UK the 24 is a good coil for pre-rotted stubbles, rape stalks and fresh, un-reduced plough, same as the FTP 5x10s are, yada yada. The depth propensities of the 24 makes for especially useful coil- to- ground compensation over stiff wheat stubbles. I've found LG to be a real ok tool, but my need is for a FTP/Fisher SMF. I have long preferred FTP machines: I've used several of them over the years as well as Tesoros. The tool I regret moving on, was my UK spec Tejon, but I'm not a collector of detectors so it's better gone. Nothing beats that old-school "Zip-Zip" modulated audio of a quality US 13 kHz plus MD. T'was a sad day when Jack's two sons pulled the plug on the Tesoro brand: one of my darkest days in this hobby in fact.☘🏴‍☠👍.

      Thanks for the insight on the LG24 but sorry for your loss. I never used a Tesoro but have heard great things about them back in their time. Good luck and thanks for the comment.

    I’m sold on the elliptical coils for trash infested areas. Depth isn’t the game in the places I hunt. Separation and recovery speed is the most important. Found a Victorian era silver baby ring in a very trashy area a couple of weeks ago using the small elliptical. And yes it does get great depth for the size.

  • @SandyAndyDiggin

    Scott, kind of crazy to stumble on this video. I ran an ATMax since late 2017. Decided (from the CZcams pressure) I “needed” to upgrade. I picked Minelab after they changed VDI range to 99. (Couldn’t stand the 600/800 range). I will say my 700 is absolutely amazing on the beach. Quiet, smooth and deep. But I do not like it nearly as much on the turf as my ATMax. Have been looking for a semi-elliptical and it’s funny hearing you say, you regret letting go of the ATPro. Hoping to hear this machine is better or at least as good.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The Legend is better all around and for a bout the same price as the ATs.

    Yeah I was lied to too back in 2023. I waited around for two months he kept telling me it will be a couple weeks after I already ordered it because his website said that they were in stock but that was a lie. Needless to say I got my money back and ordered from a major dealer. I do like this detector and coil a lot.

  • @garrettmarquart6702

    On land the legend behaves much different than it does once it's submerged. I look forward to any tips or tricks in an aquatic environment because in a side by side test the AT PRO picks up smalls (earrings and pendants) much better than the legend...unless you constantly tweak frequencies and various other settings. I want to detect not push buttons and carry an outdated machine with me to recheck the ground to ensure I didn't miss something!
    I think the legend is far superior on land but in fresh water (where there are multitudinous interfering signals) I've thusly [8 months] been very disappointed.
    Thanx for the video and keep up the great work!

    thanks' for the video, I have had the LG24 for a couple months now and I like it a lot, as for the upgraded carbon shaft I have to agree with you My shaft is also loose and there seems to be a wobble when you swing it I contacted my seller and they told me to talk to Nokta....needless to say I no longer do business with them, I ended up putting a piece of electrical tape on the shaft and it locked it in pretty good so I guess I will run with that it's hard to believe no-one else is having this issue anyway happy digging.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  Před 10 měsíci

      I read another person had the same issue and they did contact Nokta and they sent him another kit and it worked out fine. Maybe that is the only way to get it fixed. I may try that route as well.

    What about auto gain makes a huge difference in bringing a deep target louder

  • @lancemcilwainoutcastmetald5398

    I may have a faulty coil. My lg24 coil is so chatty and noisy that i can’t run the sensitivity over 15 but on my lg 30 i can run the sensitivity almost wide open and its quiet as a mouse.

    Low frequency is for depth. Do the same test with Multi wet under the same conditions.

    I will give you a little secret if you hit a high tone good one way with a stable VDI meaning just one or 2 numbers bouncing around it’s worth exploring I found a 1900 Barber half dollar in my front yard that I pounded to death with many MD s and running field m1 at 14 inches on edge I got a one way high tone with VDI running between 51 to 53 so far with the legend I gotten 4 silver half dollars 3 walkers 2 1917 one 1920 and the Barber half I have found liberty nickel s at 10 plus inches IHP at 12 plus for the money it’s really good if I am in heavy iron I will pluck old coins using beach mode wet are dry with a recovery 7 IF one and stability 1 if there are a lot of old rusted bottle caps I raise that to 7 or 8 and I bet in one month I found close to 20 IHP and 20 silver s using this method the only down side it does drain your battery a little faster instead of a 6 hour hunt you may get 4 i now take my charger with me to give it a quick 20 minute charge if I am. Producing I have many photos of my finds if you are ever interested in looking great video I would like to get the 9. 5 coil I love it on the simplex plus
