Colossal Shadows: Super Tuskers of East Africa (Captions)

  • There are only 24 super tusk elephants left on Earth.
With tusks weighing a combined 200 lbs or more, these magnificent creatures are kings of the elephant world. Their near-disappearance was due to the hands of humans, yet they managed to survive by hiding deep within the African bush. Their existence today is a testament to the intelligence and resilience of mother nature.
When award-winning photographer and filmmaker Drew Doggett learned about the precarious position of these elephants within the delicate balance of wildlife in East Africa, he decided to search for and document the largest tuskers left on Earth to share their story with the world.
This short film dives into Drew’s expedition, the inspiration for the journey to Kenya, and the making of the accompanying limited edition print series titled Colossal Shadows: Super Tuskers of East Africa. This film also features Tim and Craig who were considered to be the largest two super tusk elephants still roaming the Earth. Due to natural causes, Tim passed away in 2019 a few months after Drew’s visit.
Please visit drewdoggett.com/series/colossal-shadows for more information on Drew's accompanying limited edition print series.

Well then your god has to account for the sheer unforgiving brutality of nature where allot of animals live under stress with not enough to eat and will die horrible deaths. You can’t just think there is a god because the world is beautiful, you also have to account for the the life cycles of parasites who use animals as hosts which kills the animal in order for the parasites to reproduce, and you have to also account for not only all the other species of elephant that have gone extinct but the fact that 99% of all species that have ever existed have gone extinct….some plan by god eh?

The TWO factors threatening African wildlife today is:
    A) increased poaching, and,
    B) the continuous encroachment upon, and destruction of, their remaining pockets of native habitat from the increasing demands for resources by an ever growing and unchecked global human over-population.
Btw, this guy is WRONG when he states there are only 14 tuskers left!! What he really means is: "at present we know of 14 tuskers in this park". There are plenty of tuskers in Africa, far more than those currently identified. His deliberate misuse is just a scare tactic to make the ignorant worried!! In one park, Rangers counted 25K elephant in one 24hr period.
