I think an interesting thing to add is that Vaush is highly responsible for the way his community negatively acts towards Destiny, though perhaps not intentionally. If anyone has followed Vaush for the past few months, Vaush will sometimes describe Destiny as falling towards the right. He'll say things like "If you compare what Destiny has said 2 years ago compared to what he says today, you'll see a stark difference" implying that Destiny is becoming more of a conservative.
What's probably happening is that Destiny was soft to his leftist audience for a long time and Destiny made a conscious decision to go against his lefty fanbase rather than actually shift rightward. The narrative that "Destiny is falling towards the right" probably has a strong influence on Vaush's community's opinion on Destiny, especially when his takes are perceived to be that way (even if they aren't). So, whenever Destiny is clipped out of context or whenever he's perceived to be shifting towards the right, there's often a visceral reaction from these communities. I don't suspect these are collectively inspired from hatred itself, but rather a mixture of concern, disappointment, community divide, and yes, hate is in there too. I think this narrative is powerful in influencing how these people (including a lot of people in Destiny's community) often respond to Destiny's takes whereas when Vaush does something similar, it's often accepted as nothing more than a display of bad optics like when everybody used to spam the NEAT emote. There was no underlying narrative there to sort of poison the well.
So yeah, Vaush is a pretty big culprit in how his community negatively reacts to Destiny a lot of the times, despite it not being intentional. I just think this is an important caveat to consider when we're dealing with why Destiny is seemingly treated differently than Vaush for similar blunders.
It might be worthwhile for Destiny to address this narrative if he hasn't already. I'm not mega-proactive in all the shit that goes on but I can still pick up on the sort of overarching ideas that influence people's tweets and all that jazz.

@@hermithouse Vaush and Destiny have both gotten flak for some of their previous behaviour. I'm not touching on how Twitch, CZcams etc have treated either content creators. I'm looking at the difference in how both communities perceive Destiny and Vaush, and why I think this narrative, regardless of whether or not it's actually true, probably influences people's perception of them. Vaush gives similarly hot takes and is also similarly clipped out of context (for instance, the Marvel movie joke) yet we don't see the same degree of backlash within Vaush's community.

@@wisetrollman I don't even think those were intentionally meant to be jabs. I'm pretty certain Vaush is strong and genuine in his belief that Destiny is moving rightward politically. It's the underlying idea that Destiny is becoming reactionary/conservative and any indication of that would resort in greater backlash compared to any hot take that Vaush gives.

Anyone who gets dog piled enough or their funds ripped away will freak out and seek a scapegoat. Destiny said yesterday that he adapted to dog piling but the defunding he got super hurt by because he’s powerless against corporate legal departments. It sucks all around. I hold out faith that they’ll evolve past this extreme stuff about retaliating hardcore and permanently. I genuinely cannot believe that Destiny will believe forever that Vaush and his community are THIS bad. Destiny already said “maybe we WILL talk again in the future someday” in the first 15 minutes of this segment. The day before he said he’d never talk to him. Its almost like both can be wrong, and both can be mad at eachother for what the other did. That clip of destiny is bad, he shouldn't have said that. Vaush's community (HIS ROOMATE AND GF INCLUDED) should not have spread a clip, told eachother to report him, and attempt to get him in trouble with twitch. For some reason you have to take one side or the other on this issue which is fucking stupid.

@@handsomebear. Its still fair though. Vaush is something that destiny has created, the wider online left community has been something that destiny has had a decent hand in nurturing.
Vaush got his start as irishladdie trying to deplatform destiny, and after a lot of nurturing, that little irish laddie grew up strong enough to use destinys words to whip him with.
      Oh well.

Hindsight is 20-20. People in Destiny's community normally roast him when he has a bad take, but at this point it just feels like he's lashing out because he is understandably pissed.

As someone from Vaush’s community, and of course this entirely anecdotal, I like Destiny. I subscribed to him THROUGH Vaush. I have my differences with him and his opinions. But I would imagine quite a few of the non-vocal majority would feel somewhat similar. The clip was bad, and the optics looked bad, but I would happily admit that there is nuance with what you were arguing. The clipping was totally dishonest.
