- Join me as I review the Anakin Skywalker Legacy Lightsaber line from Star Wars Galaxy's Edge in Disney Parks.
This lightsaber is inspired by the saber used by Anakin during Revenge Of The Sith, then Luke in A New Hope and then The Empire Strikes Back before making its way to Rey (Palpetine) during The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and then the reforged version which was used in The Rise of Skywalker. This was the first Lightsaber shown on film in the franchise after it was passed to Luke Skywalker by Obi wan Kenobi and has lots of distinctive features and for a lot of people it is remembered as Luke's official lightsaber almost more than Anakin's.
I think Galaxy's Edge have done a really good job at replicating this particular lightsaber hilt design across all three designs but let me know what you think and which design is your favourite.
I think these are perfect editions and a credit to the Skywalker Saga.
Hopefully I'll share some information about these lightsabers and help you make a decision on whether to add this piece of the Skywalker Saga to your own collection!

One good explanation I saw someone come up with was that obi wan modified it to be easier for someone inexperienced to wield and then Luke modified it further for his needs
That’s actually a brilliant retcon explanation!! Love a bit of head canon
I seen that to, any idea who it was I can't remember
I went to Disneyland in February and bought the Anakin Jedi Knight version. I am very happy with it!
I love mine (I know a lot of folk don’t like the galaxy’s edge ones). Can’t wait to actually get to the parks in a few years though
It's a fun toy, but for 300 USD + the ticket to Galaxy's Edge is just not worth it, just might as well buy a Neopixel. When I went there I originally wanted to buy Anakin's but it wasn't released yet so I had to go for Rey's TFA version... which was out of stock at the time, so I had to go with Luke's. I was so disappointed I spent over 300 dollars for something I didn't really want. Later that year, I learned what Neopixels were, now I regret absolutely nothing. Im glad I didnt buy it as I probably wouldnt have cared enough to know what a Neopixel was. I bought Anakin's Revenge of the Sith lightsaber from Artsabers, best purchase of my life and it was only a little more expensive than the Galaxy's Edge ones.
@@order66collectiblesspeaking of Jedi Knight Anakin legacy saber, they should've made that a color changing version of it like what we saw before in Ahsoka episode 5 Shadow Warrior. Wouldn't you say or think so?
Not only that, they should also think about making both ANH and ESB versions of the Skywalker saber, what do ya think?
@@PatoChuI’m in the UK so the cost of getting to the parks isn’t an option for me (saving to take the whole family but will be years before that happens). Nowadays you can pick most of these GE sabers up second hand on eBay or Facebook for cheap (seen them go for £70 in the UK) or you can trade. That’s what I’d be doing. Equally neopixel is a good option
@@kevinmarshall410a colour change Jedi knight one like the Ahsoka episode would be epic! Could be in a special edition box which is half Jedi style and half sith/empire.
I’d love it if they made an accurate ANH / ESB version but I know some people would see it as too much of the same/similar thing. Before that I’d prefer them to make his padawan saber from attack of the clones - that’s things a beautiful hybrid of the graflex and Vader designs so has nice symmetry
The rise of Skywalker version is one of the few things I like about that movie that she may not have known how to fully make a saber yet so she repaired the one she had and by the end she figured it out and made her own!
You know what I’d never thought about it like that, that she repaired it out of necessity because she didn’t have the knowledge to build one. Love that
Actually the A New Hope version is totally different to the Empire Strikes Back version. The ANH one has the bubble style ignition box, the ignition box is on the other side of the saber and has the the grips glued like the anakin episode 3 version.
So what I’m hearing is that Disney actually have more versions of this hilt they could release through Galaxy’s Edge….?!
@@order66collectibles 🤣 disney really out here saying, "but wait, there's more!"
@@order66collectibles yesss hahaha
But for canon, it is the same saber just modified throughout the films?
@@nes4tw214 basically yes
BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONETO COMPARE ALL THESE HILTS THANK YOU AMAZING VIDEO
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed!
In ANH The clamp box would be on the opposite side with a bubble strip, ANH has 7 non notched grips and the d ring is a smaller more rough design. ESB the clamp is in the position we see on these hilts with a circuit card replacing the bubble strip and has a thin strip of chrome Mylar tape around the clamp to hide the Graflex logo , the glass eye is removed and replaced with a second red button identical to the one behind the bunny ears, the beer tab where the main red button is also missing and now there are six grips with notches screwed down with black painted screws. ROTS the machined the prop from scratch as opposed to using a Graflex Camera flash gun as the base, this hilt is much much slimmer and entirely chrome with gold and copper details. TFA hilt is a mashup of ANH and ESB and returns to the use of a vintage Graflex flashgun, it brings back the glass eye and beer tab on the emitter, the grips are now held down with rivets instead of screws and the circuit card is slightly different.
I LOVE your knowledge level on this 😊
Such elegant variations.
I got the Revenge of the Sith hilt, and it’s one of my favorite lightsabers that I own.
Disney did a great job replicating anakin’s saber
@@order66collectibles they really did
I think the one with Anakin is better
Thanks for the Videos, I only got the one with the D-Ring System. I love it😊
Hope you enjoy them 😊 the one with the D-ring is my favourite!!
on the ammiter on lukes its suposed to me jsut a peice of silver not having the blakc bottom peice like anikens
We need his episode 2 saber hilt its so underrated its basically vaders but more chrome
100% agree, i love his episode 2 hilt, the subtle nods they gave to his Vader hilt are brilliant
such a waste of money tbh. Just buy a Neopixel one
Tusken slayer is the best💯
While I love the Anakin/Luke lightsaber, my issue with the replicas are the rubberized grip strips. Yes, I know they were originally pieces of rubber windshield wiper blades they just stuck to a Graflex flash handle in ANH, so they're trying to be relatively screen-accurate by making the strips on these replicas rubberized. My problem is with how the rubber degrades over time and starts getting sticky to the touch. I own the Hasbro Force FX ANH saber from like a dozen years ago, and it's just annoying and even disapointing that the rubber is getting so sticky even though I've barely ever taken it out of the box. It makes me not want to hold or handle it, and I worry about the lightsaber's longevity as a collectible replica.
Yep I share this issue. I get they’re going for accuracy but plastic strips (like they did for the belt clip bit on the reforged one) would be better and have a longer life span. Hopefully these will hold up ok 🤞
For the MR/old Hasbro sabers, use alcohol and a rag and rub the sticky off. Eventually you'll remove the rubber surface, and there's a hard plastic grip underneath. It solves the sticky problem.
I love how an extremely slight continuity error from a prop department in 2003 warranted these two sabers to be considered entirely different from each other
Shhh - if you say that too loudly they’ll realise the ANH and Empire ones don’t match the ‘Skywalker’ one and they’ll release more editions 😂
No it (most likely) wasn't a continuity error . George Lucas knew they needed a slicker design for the Graflex since it would've been very hard for Hayden to duel with it, so he straight up chose a different design which was the one we all now know and love. Also, since they had lost and sold the ANH and TESB graflexes, the only thing they could base themselves on was the graflex they had previously made for Return of the Jedi (of course, the lightsaber in canon was lost by then, but I beleive it was created before writing) called the "Skywalker Ranch Graflex". It's a combination between that lightsaber and the ANH Graflex, idk, maybe George liked the design and wanted to use it but couldn't until Revenge of the Sith.
Luke Skywalker too
Is the Anakin ROTS Lightsaber sold at Disney Springs in WDW? I’ve heard this lightsaber is discontinued but wasn’t sure if that was true
The ROTS is the newest one (only released at the back end of 2022) and still available subject to stock in the parks 👍
I have the ANH and ESB versions screen accurate. But I love this version- tempted to buy. Only concern is whether it’s a chunky hilt as the Darth sidious and mace windu were really chunky so I didn’t buy. Any views?
The Disney version of the graflex is the exact same size as a neopixel graflex (I did a short recently where I showed them side by side to show how close it is) so you wouldn’t be worried about this being too chunky. The mace and sidious Disney sabers are too big by comparison
Thank you, in that case I’m going to get the Disney graflex .
I bought one used today that resembles the D ring lightsaber. Has disney and lucasfilm licensing like my galaxys edge sabers. Twist the emitter shroud off and press the glass eye to remove blade. Control box is off center. What can you tell me about it? Are there any videos on it, what would I search?
So the one you have is known as the ‘Disney parks Skywalker (or Rey) lightsaber’. It was effectively the prototype version of Disney lightsabers before they released the legacy line. It has similar features and weight to the legacy one but doesn’t have the same quick release blade mechanism, it’s more like a force fx lightsaber that hasbro produce. Here’s a really good comparison video:

Oh, a piece of candy!
In Episode V the lightsaber has a second red button not a clear one which it had in Episode IV.
I’d never noticed that!
Will you compare all kenobi thin neck lightsabers
Here’s one ready-baked for you 😊 czcams.com/video/Oe_sGq-RheI/video.htmlsi=DsjnIxqwLwh3jo8M
Is the anakin ROTS available at Disney parks?
Yeah both the ROTS anakin and the reforged saber are still available at Disney Parks in the grey crates. The Luke variation is still available but only in the black box version not the grey crate
I’m having trouble picking between the three
I get that. Personally I’d pick up the Luke (or one that is supposed to be Luke) version. You can get that in the black box version that comes with a blade so it’s more cost effective and the hilt is beautiful
Is the ROTS still available? I can’t find it on any websites
In the parks it is - so if you can get to galaxy’s edge that’s an easy option. Shopdisney have removed it but depending on where you are in the word you can pick it up either from eBay of if you’re looking for it new there’s a site called doubleboxedtoys - I’ll put a link below for you. They’re a UK based company who import from the U.S. but they ship anywhere, just contact them first so they can give you a quote on postage 👍

@@order66collectibles Thanks
Not much of a fan of the Awakens saber, since it’s a hybrid of the Hope and Empire sabers. (Bit like the film really: a mashup of Episodes IV and V). I think the reason for the change in design would have been a merch issue. No point buying a Force Awakens lightsaber, if it’s identical to an Empire one. Same reason 3P0 had a red arm: a ‘different’ toy to sell.
I wonder if Disney genuinely realised that there was a difference at all. They keep flopping between calling it the ‘Rey saber’ then the ‘skywalker saber’….don’t get me wrong I’m happy with the saber but just feels a bit all over the place
@@order66collectibles They call it Rey's lightsaber because that was the version Rey wielded during The Force Awakens and TLJ, it's not because Disney is stupid and thinks Rey is the now owner of the lightsaber.
is the Anakin here thinner than the Luke? Or are they the same size
They’re the same size as far as I can tell 👍
Appreciate the reply! I already have the Luke and a skinnyflex. Was thinking of getting the Anakin too since the graflex is my favorite saber design, but if it's so close to the Luke it may be redundant.
@@andyreyes290 any time 😊 yeah it’s physically identical in terms of size but there are quite a few design differences between the Luke / sequels version and the prequels version which are quite cool when you put them together
Do the blades come with any of them?
Yeah you can get the ‘Luke’ version from shopdisney.com or shopdisney.co.uk and it comes in a bundle with a blade, belt clip and stand. Different box (not the grey ones in this video) though if that’s a deal breaker. It’s called ‘the Skywalker’ bundle 👍

What's the difference in Revenge Of the Sith saber and Skywalker saber in the original trilogy one?
from a cannon point of view they are the same saber (and supposed to be exactly the same design) but there was a continuity error when they designed Anakin's saber in ROS which means they are now two different designs for the purpose of building the hilts.
The ROS saber has a different ignition sound set in the Legacy Line, it has gold pieces, a more polished and shiny feel, copper augments up towards the buttons, the wings at the top are solid rather than being a clip and it has a covertec clip instead of D-ring design.
@@order66collectibles ok cool. Which one out of those 3 sabers would you suggest to use?
@@order66collectibles ok cool. Which one out of those 3 sabers would you suggest to use?
@@christophersymes7511 depends what look you’re going for and if you want 100% accuracy. My personal favourite is the original ‘skywalker’ one (the one meant to look like Luke’s) but the Anakin one is good too.
@@order66collectibles I wouldnt say it's a continuity error. George knew they couldnt use the same design since Hayden wouldn't have been able to duel with it so they made the design thinner. Also, by the time they were planning for ROTS, the only reference of the original Graflex they had was the "Skywalker Ranch Lightsaber" which was the lightsaber they were originally gonna use for Return of the Jedi before they knew it got lost.
In canon it's explained that Obi-Wan slightly modified some parts to accommodate Luke's preferences when he had it in Tatooine before A New Hope.
I hate the battle damage effect on the rey saber. Just looks like a kid drew the gold lines in and it looks really cheap.
Yeah it’s such a missed opportunity. They could have moulded it into the metal and it would have been so much better feeling and looking
How long will the anakin version be around? I hard the luke version is gone
The anakin one has only recently been released so I don’t think it’s a risk of going anywhere. The Luke version is gone in the grey crates but they re-released it in the black box versions (which come with a blade, belt clip and stand) via shopdisney if you wanted to get that one
Is it legal for them to make an official product out of a fanmade trilogy?
Which one is the fan made trilogy?
@@order66collectibles you tell me.
Hide your kids.
😂
What about episode two
I’m pretty sure the saber he had in episode 2 was a completely different build (and got smashed in half)…I’m half expecting disney to realise there’s a Padawan version of Anakin’s lightsaber they can release within the next 12 months to be honest
They actually had that version in a voting round for the next legacy saber sometime in the last 6 months. A different saber got voted in, but I imagine it's on the radar.
@@PosttHumann yeah I think the Kanan Jarrus won that vote…but somehow we still don’t hVe that saber and instead we’re getting Yoda 😂
Agreed we need the youngling slayer🙌
