HANDS DOWN BEST INFO IVE EVER LEARNED ON CZcams! I just spent the last almost 3 hours fighting with a roll pin going thru a plastic drive cog into a steel shaft on a snowmobile and finally searched roll pin removal on the tube and this trick got my roll pin out in about 3 seconds! I'm blown away and thankful for the tip! Thank you!!!
Dude - you're a life saver! Spent literally weeks trying to get a roll pin out of the shift lever of a 1966 T-Bird. Your method had it out in about 20 seconds!
Oh Man... Wish I'd seen this yesterday morning before I spent 4 hours trying to get a roll pin out of tight quarters. While it didn't take 3 seconds, more like 30-40 seconds (it was really stuck after 40 years). It was well worth the $25 I spent for the nailer. Thanks!!!!
LIFE SAVER !!! I Just started working on a John Deere 350 Dozer and was having a hard time driving any of the roll pins out.. thats how I found your video... I will def. give this method a Try.... Thank You !
It worked! I went and bought one just for this purpose, and in a matter of 3 seconds it was out. Been beating on the pin for two days and it wouldn’t budge. GENIUS!
I second that. I had a pin stuck in my 1971 snowblower axle. The previous owner had a broke off punch in it. As well. Took me seconds to knock it out. $24 palm nailer at harbor freight and the Pittsburgh roll pin punches fit right it.
It worked! I was skeptical of this but was desperate after the first roll pin took hours to remove. I bought the $29 Banks palm nailer at Harbor Freight and was surprised how small it was. My first attempt cracked the edge off the pin. I launched two punches so be careful. Then I got a good position and the stubborn pin flew out the other side of the hole. I'm amazed!
Thanks I was thinking I had to get a hydraulic press. Just did this on split pit that was about 1/8 thick. Used my bigger palm nailer as I don't own a small unit and it worked. Careful hits until my punch was in the hole. Held shaft with a drill press press vise.
Had 4 split pins to remove from a gearbox. Palm Nailer did the job in less than a minute. Much that time was rotating shaft to get a proper angle for punch.
Bro I spent hours over the course of a 3 days trying to get a roll pin out of the steering wheel shaft and rack and pinion using a roll pin pusher and hammer. Never getting the right angle due to the parts being on the car. I saw this video and ran to Harbor Freight bought one for 25 and did what you said. First attempt the roll pin came out. I was happy and mad at the same time. Wish i would have found this video sooner
Fantastic idea Ordered pins they came together as in small one inside the other already. Question how do I get them apart My understanding when I put them back in I'm supposed to to put large in then put small one inside large one Any help would be greatly appreciated Doing gear shift linkage bushings
This is a great idea and seems effective but I've got four stainless steel 1.25" rods joined each has a joined smaller section by a spring pin and they are not coming out with the palm nailer...any ideas?
Blind Hole Roll Pin Pulling Out: Any ideas? Bore is 3/32 inch. Only thing I can think of is a very small tap: thread inside of pin and tap will screw it out when tap bottoms. OR ??????

Brilliant I have been struggling with this for a while. Used a cordless impact driver and sorted in seconds. Thanks from Down Under big fella!!

great.... ANOTHER tool I "Need". lol
Thank you! Purchased a Ridgid palm nailer for $70. Drove a groove pin out of my Toro push mower in 5 secs. Worth the money!
Holy sh*t! Working on a boat motor. This is freaking genius! Harbor freight has a palm nailer for $30. Worth every penny.
Worked perfect!! Had to remove a gas pedal pin
Thanks so much solved the stuck hood hinge roll hinge pin issue on my 95 Range Rover Classic. Replacing them with stainless dowels
Such an awesome thing to share, Thanks!!
Big hat tip to you dad! Great tip -- worked beautifully!
Really awesome tip 👍🏻

Didn’t know these existed. Thanks!
Great idea! 👍😎👍
awesome idea, Thanks! (and, thanks Dad!)
Now that was pretty cool!

Genius! Thank you
And what about rusted ones? I have tried punches, air hammer, nothing has even budged this thing, with penetrant or heat

Doing gear shift linkage bushings
life saver! for sure
my man thank you. what about when you have no air compressor or the space is too tight or simply you cannot use that tool?
Will be trying this tomorrow
This works! Punch with a hammer, I was afraid to break the rod with heavy pounding. Plier and pull, ergh no way.

Bless you
Having trouble with my CD009 transmission roll pin and I have never even heard of the tool you’re using lol
What if it’s not a through hole? Drill it out?
Anyone who has used a palm nailer will appreciate the brilliance of this. If anything will drive out the pin, this will do it.
My AR15 is held together with roll pins as well.
Yes🎉
