I thought the main draws of fighting games was prowess in play, but it feels like there's not much of a learning curve to play them much like they used to. The game can be fun outside of ranked like that for sure, but adding some of these instant punish mechanics to a ranked environment seems like a dance of who's going to sneak the super in at the right time. Tekken 3-5 were probably most peak for me. Once rage art was added I saw the downhill and am glad I stayed away from it since.

The reason why Dale get beaten in new fighting games, is that his reflexes are slowing, his ego has grossly inflated what he thinks his skill is, Dale cannot adapt to new games and new mechanics, it's always much easier for him to blame everything but himself for his failures. Combined with his simp chat gushing over the shit that spews from his mouth they all have this rose colored view of what Dale game skills are. He will never be 'pro level', but will remain a middling player, that only succeeds in his own tournaments because of sand bagging and he bans those that are legitimately better then him (which is most people).
