Our tastes are similar . I carry one layer you don’t , being a fair/good leather worker , I wear one of several modded leather compact ( and somewhat capable ) holsters . They are great for trouble shooting , and minor repairs . After that it’s Veto bags , and the “ Mother Ship “ , is a Milwaukee “ Packout “ stack .
How do you find it in situations where you need high torque , in tight spots ? I have a bit of an issue with my right ( a surgically re attached little finger on my right hand ) [ happened incident on the failure of a medium duty ladder ] .
Whia makes a Stubby handle for their slimline bits , the handle is stubby ( 1KV rated , the blades are ( off the cuff ) about 2 1/2”. It’s the only VDE stubby set up I know of . Crescent tools makes a 1/4”hex “ Isolator” , for shock protection for drills and impacts . They also make isolators for 1/4”, 3/8” and 1/2” sockets . The “ isolator is about 1 1/2” long , and could be run on any 1/4”/6mm magnetic stubby . I’m not sure about the regulatory status in your “ Hood” , but it might protect you from a nasty bight !
I’ve found ratcheting is a really good attribute for a stubby ! For a kickoff , you are usually in a disadvantageous position when you are using a stubby !
This is true, eg. I found it impossible to screw shelves from underneath in a smallish cabinet with a normal sized one. I can imagine the ratchet coming in real handy there. Good one by wera!
Nice video! Could you tell me which wera handle you prefer? The one with or without bit carousel? (without taking the ratchet part In consideration) Greetings from the Netherlands.
Dan , you need to try PB Swiss , best Hex keys I’ve ever used . I don’t use them every day ( Wera is my default brand ) , they also make some of the World best Ratcheting drivers ( makes anything else feel like a crowbar , the best ! ) . Needless to say , not cheap , perhaps worth a look if you take a family holiday in Switzerland!
@@htr5372 True , I’ve owned many of ratcheting drivers , all I can say , is that PB is by far the most satisfactory one I’ve used so far ( I started with Snap On , have owned Wera ( my backup , and loaner ) , I prefer Wera’s ratcheting stubby to PB’s due to it’s shorter overall length .
@@htr5372 Wiha makes some pretty nice non ratcheting stubbies , I like their 14 in 1 ( 7 double ended bits ) , the Bits aren’t bog standard , but I have a large selection of them , plus their 26 in 1 , these are usually just EDC items , as the bits are not readily available over the counter . When working , they are an emergency backup . The other Wiha Stubby I’m fond of is their Stubby handle for their voltage rated Slim Vario bits ( 1KV rated ) .
@@htr5372 I find the double ended bits more of a low bulk backup , Whia makes quite a few assortments , handy for seldom used/ but much needed stuff , ie : security , Posidrive , and Metric hex bits . For more mundane applications , I prefer 1” 1/4” hex , impact rated , so I can swap ammo between my drivers , and impacts .
@@htr5372 I’m a big Toolcheck plus fan , I have both Imperial and Metric , paired up with a 1/4” drive Zyclops ratchet . That setup rides in my toolbag .
Nice comparison but I was hoping that you at least try the stubby and comment on the ratcheting function.

A wise man ( which you are ) , invests heavily restricted access tooling ! Saves you time , makes you money ! I want one of the ESD stubbys !

I like that little ESD set, not much use for ESD in my line of work though. I'll have to see if they do something similar in VDE.

I was just looking at that on Amazon
@@chrisfyfe9212 Thanks for the info, I already use the Wiha stubby, although it is a little bit longer than non-insulated stubby screwdrivers.

If you want to overpay for a tool & not have it live up to your expectations buy wera

Greetings from the Netherlands.
Hi Stanley personally I preferred the normal handle, the carousel is good but not really needed and just found it easier. Having the plain handle
Thanks a lot for your reply! I'll probably just buy the normal one then with some seperate bits. :)
The review about a stubby Wera about not a ratcheting Wera.
