  • Imagine all your household devices like your iPhone, toothbrush and gaming controller being charged through the air at the same time, without any cables in sight. It sounds like magic. Many companies offer three ways to remotely power your device: radio waves, microwaves or infrared light. But what are some of the risks of beaming more energy around you?
I explore whether long-distance wireless charging is safe and why it may be a long time before you have it at home.

Do you think long-distance air charging will catch on?

But it is not power efficient where you are charging something over air ..as well as The power coursing through the air changer itself..

We already had this technology for decades in space projects plus solar powered from the sun is through the air. Its more logical to invent a solar "cell" phone.

I like it. Less wires means less clutter and can be great for low powered items like a smoke detector, clocks, and led lights. But I also don’t want to accidentally slowly cook myself in my home so want to make sure it’s all safe first.

In the future, we may no longer have batteries in our devices. The environment or atmosphere directly provides power for use. The concept fo charging may disappear in daily life.

Always trust the guy who shows up to an interview wearing a Guns N Roses tee. Classic indeed.

It’s interesting but I don’t think it will replace the wires anytime soon. Maybe it will have more commercial use.

2:07 I do understand you are transmitting this charge at low power to charge efficiently..but the backend region where the air charger gets power must eating power in higher rates..is it efficient?

I like the convenience this offers but what about the over all effect on one's body? This needs more study.

Safety is my last concern. What matters is that they can support a high range mode where air charging can charge my devices efficiently.

Safety is the least of your concerns while your head is microwaved 😂😂 That's a great slogan for companies! We don't give a 💩 about our customers! 😃 But at least!! You have wireless charging! 😃 I would sue so fast!

1 watt of charging to a cell phone all day would not make a difference. The battery would still be draining constantly. Try it

wow this technology is so exciting and fascinating. Except not like everything could’ve been wireless like this 100-150 year ago but the technology was suppressed for money. If only we could make tesla towers and power the world for free. but nope it’s all about $$
