I don't have a USB-A port on my laptop and prefer not to use an adapter. Also, while the mic is plug-and-play, would you happen to know if it's compatible with Chrome OS devices such as a Chromebook (both the Pixelbook and Pixelbook Go specifically in my case)?

  • @localopenmicpodcast
    @localopenmicpodcast Před 3 lety +1

    When reviewing a mic for use in a podcast setting I have zero interest in hearing the mic at distance, like over an arms length or even a few more feet away. I will never use it that way. The real trick is to adjust the volume of the mic down until the ambient noise in the room can no longer be heard. Further, if you are recording your podcast, meaning not going live, then adjust it and 'roll the tap' for about 30 seconds without speaking so you capture a true noise floor. When you put it in Audacity (come on now, we all use it at some point) you can have Audacity calculate the noise floor and remove it from the rest of the finished recording. The NT-USB Mini (I own it too along with the Podmic) is a great mic when used correctly, like any other mic. When used wrong, people think they must spend more money on a mic...which will likely turn out worse due to increased capsule sensitivity.
