I worked in Archicad from version 12 to 24, but now I had to go to work in Revit, this is torment for me...due to the fact that many project organizations are switching to revit...I really love and miss archicad!
Even before this new feature you can achieve Design Options functionality using the Renovation Filters and creating different filters for each option and PINNING the elements that only appear in one and not the other. As I am also a sole practitioner and consultant I use it a lot for my residential projects.
I studied architecture and used archicad V9 - V12 during my studies. Then changed to UX design. It's amazing to see that great elements from software design made it into the world of architecture :D (dynamic spacing, fast duplicate, etc)
I really appreciated this review. I hope Graphisoft is following you... because you really point out honest points which, if addressed would create massive waves in the AEC community for both ArchiCAD and Revit users alike.
I use Revit, Archicad and Vectorworks.. If I need to choose one of those 3 software for my primary.. I'll go for Archicad. 2nd is Vectorworks. Now I need to wait for Archicad 27 for official release. Those new features seems help my workflow a lot . Thanks for the review.
@@mixmap1039 Actually they both good. It just depend on you. I like Archicad because it look professional, parametric assets library, Revit look old school, but Revit easy to learn. You need to try both then you'll know, but still depend on your need tho.
Hi enjoyed your thoughts on 27. Have been using ArchiCAD since v7. I have used the Renovation tool & achieved the same as Designs options, I think. Also want to add, in New Zealand we have construction company's using BIMx to construct the building. Any updates are pushed directly to the construction company.
I do not have any information on that. I do not see Revit coming natively to the Mac anytime soon though because the underlying software architecture of Revit is built on Microsoft and Nvidia technology.
That is a very interesting point. I do agree the renovation system would be nicer if it, like Revit, could have multiple renovation phases. Especially in healthcare, it is not uncommon to have multiple phases in the same project as mission critical operations for a hospital must stay up and running throughout construction, and to achieve this, multiple phases of construciton are required.
It’s been running smoothly for me except on rare occasions it crashes when editing text. Graphisoft already reached out to me for more info so they can fix the glitch.
@@alessiogri2166I switched to an M1 Mac Mini this January and no issues running AC26. OK, absolutely no issues would be a lie and was never and will never be true. :) I have no issues than I had with previous Archicads running on my older Imac.
Probably through your local Graphisoft reseller. It is primarily focused on MEP engineer workflows. If you are just wanting to model MEP content in an architectural BIM model, the Archicad MEP Modeler tool is plenty capable and version 27 is supposed to improve this toolset.
@@ColorBlindArchitect well, let’s hope and see what they come out with an electrical panel load calculation would be nice but then again I have too many hopes for this . I wrote them several times, telling them to update the mesh tool and rivet has done a better job at that with their site tool…
@@gerardofaustin8156 , Panel load calculations, I would think that could be done through schedules and formulas within properties. I typically have my electrical engineer do those, but I could look into setting up something like that and make a video of it.

I’ve heard of people using that but I had always used layers.
It is not solving problems with intersections and random holes in model.

100% agrre with improving the MEP capabilities. I love designig electric and plumbing in 3D

If the renovation system worked properly, design options wouldn't be needed. Or at least they would work as a Function of the renovation system.

I strongly disagree. The reno. system was a workaround for a feature not available.

I would argue stairs and railings in version 21 and building materials in version 17 were also very important major upgrades.
