  • The best hot tent wood stove is the Winnerwell Nomad Stove. In this video I provide a review of the Winnerwell Nomad Medium Tent Stove. This is an excellent stove for wood stove camping and hot tent winter camping. This hot tent stove in my option is the best hot tent wood stove on the market in terms of durability and functionality. This stove also can be used with the Winnerwell Pipe Oven and the Winnerwell Fast Fold Stove. It also has a Winnerwell double wall pipe section which can be purchased additionally. Another great attachment for this Winnerwell medium stove is the Winnerwell medium water tank attachment.

    I spent last weekend in a hot tent and used this stove. It was incredibly windy outside, gusts up to 46mph. A little sketchy to be camping, but it was in an open area and my tent was staked and weighted. The stove kept my tent comfortable, so much so that I was in a t-shirt and sweats. I bought the hot water tank and that was really great to have, coffee and hot chocolate whenever I wanted. The oven is arriving on Monday, I'm really looking forward to using it! This stove is very sturdy, a quality item. I plan to use it often so the price was worth it for me.

    Thank you! Your videos helped me to make decisions about what to buy! I needed up with the large pipe oven and not the foldable oven. As you said, I can bake, and sauté at the same time this way, the foldable oven takes up all of your cooking surface. I got the smoker too and figure I can just use that in a pinch as an oven, but probably won't need to.

      Oh you'll be toasty. I've got that tent up 100 degrees before when outside temps are in the 20s. I try to keep it somewhere between 70 to 80 degrees for comfort. First time out with a thermometer I was dying, had the stove going full boar around 5 degrees and I had to open the windows on the door. You can certainly get it very comfortable. Once you learn how much wood you need to load into it ro maintain comfortable temps you should be able to keep it very comfy for you.

    Verified Purchase on AMAZON comment:
    Bought this so we could take it touring in the camper van and to put in our bell tent.It warms the tent up in no time and being able to watch the flames from the side panel is great.It is good to cook on but unfortunetly after 6 months use ours has buckled on the top by the flu which means when we put a pan or kettle on it
    does not sit flat on the stove so takes a lot longer to cook or boil anything.Also the glass side panel shattered on ours, contacted the seller who was initially reluctant to replace the glass but
    eventually agreed which is good as its expensive, was told they are using stronger glass now.I asked about the buckling on the top but was told this can happen which I am not happy about as when I read the
    information before buying it states this should not happen.I would love to have given it 5 stars as we love it but for cooking on its not great due to the buckling.

    Hello, great review. I am in the process of ordering a Nomad stove, just can't decide between the medium or large. I want to make sure that it will heat up my space sufficiently. I am using an Eskimo Ice Fishing Shelter that I converted, it is roughly 75 square feet, little less 9 x 9. I am leaning toward the medium, but looking for opinions. I noticed you are using the luxe hercules which measures 9.8 x 11.8, which gives you even more square footage, does the medium heat your tent up well or should I opt for the large. I would rather stay with medium for weight and portability. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    i have the same stove, my question is about the removable top, which you say you will probably never use. I wont either. The question is that will removing the top with the fire going with the damper wide open cause a lot of smoke coming out or not.

      It used when u want to cook with a fire below your pan Much like your stove at home.

      Basically it's for cooking directly over the fire, which I have yet to actually do. Seems senseless and unneeded if you ask me.

    Would ya say the medium size is plenty warm in your Hercules. I have the same hot tent and plan on using the stove in well below negatives in the u.p. and northern wi. Been torn on if I need a large nomad or if the medium would be just fine.

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  Před 3 lety +1

      The large nomad I think would be pretty big space wise inside the Hercules. It also has a 3.5 versus 2.5 inch flu pipe. We've got the tent up to 103F inside in sub zero temps so it will be plenty warm for you. We are moving to Northern Wisconsin next month and will continue to use this stove.

    Does the steel on this stove warpe at all? And does it give off any smoke when inside the tent?

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  Před 3 lety +2

      The first time you burn the stove it gives off smoke so you'll want to burn it outside the tent the first time. Very, very minimal warping. We used a manufactures fire log one time (the kind for fire places you buy at home depot) and had some minimal warping along the sides because the stove burned too hot. So don't use those and you'll be fine.

    Is this better than the POMOLY T1 Series Titanium Tent Stove? I'm debating for tiny home useage

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  Před 2 lety

      So a tiny home yes. Since weight is not an issue, I would go with a stainless steel stove over a titanium stove for a tiny hone. Titanium is an expensive material and really should only be considered if you are going to be pulling it in a sled or backpacking into the backcountry with it. Otherwise the stainless steel stove is much more durable for the long run in a tiny home situation. Good luck.

      @@LoneCrowAdventures Lol, You kept saying that you were going to pan in. It’s all good. I was just giving you the proper lingo. I got my Winnerwell stove and it got banged up during shipment apparently. The glass was broken, which they replaced but when I installed it today I noticed a few other issues. I’m calling the again tomorrow They were very helpful when I first spoke to them.

    Are you sure that cook top is 20 inches from the ground?
    It sure does not look like 20 inches in your video. Could you please set it up and measure from the floor to the cooktop to see for certain because it just doesn't look like 20 inches and it sure would be nice to know exactly what the height is before I invest into a stove.

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  Před 2 lety

      I didn't measure but I'd say from my estimation that 20 inches is pretty accurate. You can also but leg extenders if you like!
